I think I finally found a breakfast cereal I like! :p I used to eat a mixture of soaked oats and buckwheat, but I can't stand the taste of oats anymore. They have that bitter grain taste, that all grains have.

Anyways, here is the recipe I came up with .... I call it 'Hazelnut-Vanilla Grawnola' .....

1 cup of buckwheat, sprouted 1 day (didn't have the patience to wait any longer this time :D, but in the future I will sprout all the seeds/grains 2 days)
1 cup of pumpkin seeds, sprouted 1 day
1 cup of sunflower seeds, sprouted 1 day
1 cup of hazelnuts, soaked
1 cup of dates, soaked
freshly ground vanilla bean to taste
was going to add some chopped apple, forgot though, but I think I will like the apple added fresh better anyways.

Flatten the buckwheat with a rolling pin and mix with pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds. Chop hazelnuts to desired coarsness (I left them pretty chunky). Cream dates with a little of the soaking water to a puree. Pour over nut/seed mixture and mix well. Add vanilla. It already tasted soooo good!!

I have it drying in the dehydrator right now, so I will let you guys know how it turns out dried. I have almonds soaking and hopefully will have a scrumptious grawnola with almond milk to eat in the morning. I might add chopped apples or raisins, depends on, if I like the grawnola better with or without it.

I'll keep you posted! ;)

Karin, that sounds so good, I can almost smell it dehydrating!

I made some granola last night myself -- sprouted buckwheat, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, almonds, chopped apple, lots of cinnamon and date puree. It was good and chunky this morning. I blend together 3/4 C. purified water, 1/8 C. hemp seeds and a banana to use for the "milk." I only eat this occasionally as I'm doing green smoothies and/or fruit in the morning but sometimes I get a craving for that old granola in the morning which was a habit for years. So, this hits the spot. I'll have to try the hazelnuts and vanilla bean next time.

(By the way, it's my understanding that pumpkin seeds are one of the seeds/nuts that don't need soaking.)

I just love it when people share their recipes :D

Wow, your grawnola sounds like pretty much the same I made! NOW you tell me about it, when I was getting discouraged about a good granola! But I have to admit, it was fun putting together my own. Especially since I'm picky, don't like bananas, or cinnamon, most kinds of nuts and of course didnt' want oats in it, which most of the recipes had as main ingredient.

I won't be eating it first thing in the morning either, as I usually feel like fruit. Probably will most likely be brunch or even lunch.

How strange, I remember reading just the other day, that soaking pumpkin seeds, will take out the bitter flavor they otherwise have? I'll have to research this some more. :D

Wow that sounds good!! I think I'll have to find some place to get buckwheat or something similar. :) Thanks for the recipe!

Oh, the grawnola is great! Has become a family staple. My non raw husband (who is very supportive though) eats more of it, than I do.

Wow,

I can already taste these grawnolas.

Before I became a vegetarian and started considering to go raw I used to make my granola in the oven and eat it with very thick greek yoghurt. However, I will try to make the grawnola, I am still looking for a dehydrator. I also wonder if there is any raw yoghurt substitute, because I miss the yoghurt a lot.

Thanks,
