I saw this online the other day. The creator is Alex Stenzel I think. What he has done is create a new way to make your favorite raw dish or salad portable like a sandwich, using cucumbers. I wont try to describe it to you but here is a link:
www.gorillasandwich.com (http://www.gorillasandwich.com)
I had a hunger mishap this morning, thinking I didn't need to carry food with me. Mostly because it's hard to do. I drive for a living. (read about it in my blog (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/blogs/blog-9439/))
The gorilla sandwich gives me new hope for having food on hand when I need it.
Let me know what you all think.

great link, thank you for tipping me off. I shall try it this evening!
This is a FANTASTIC idea!
I'm going to try this next time I'm going to go the zoo and want to take a raw lunch with me... You know, those gorillas will be sooo jeaulous... Or will the Gorilla Sandwich police come and arrest me because I stole their design...?

Interesting. I don't like the idea of chowing down on the cucumber part, because it would be thick with the skin and all.. who knows maybe it's delicious!! :p

Oh how funny. Is this actually real? Don't know how they can hollow out the cucumber--would honestly not be willing to go to that much effort. Very interesting, though.

You could use one of those little melon-ballers. It's like a tiny ice cream scoop. And trinity082482, you could use a peeler to peel the skin off in "stripes." I always do that for my cucumbers for salads.

The idea is clever, but it goes a little far in my book to actually get a patent for it...
Must try it out, though. :)

Ah, I can't buy the name brand, it has onion in it! But, hm, I can make my own!
When I saw the title of this thread, I thought bananas would be involved someway. ;)

made it last night. took like 10 minutes to make and clean up. pretty simple for something so creatively interesting and different from the monotony of my green smoothies.
i used a long spoon and a knife to hollow it out, and then i put in a sweet mixture of:
dressing:
1/2 avocado
splash of ACV
pinch salt
cayenne
clove of garlic
tbsp wheat germ
tbsp dried basil flakes
mixed with 1 ear of corn and a huge handful of alfalfa sprouts, and stuffed it into the cucumber. it was fabulous.

hey this might be a good way to make an appetizer, you know stuffing it with certain things and just placing in the fridge until your ready and then slicing it crosswise...
anyhow, i can't wait to try this out...i bet it's a little sloppy to eat though..
who cares:)

I have hollowed out thick slices of cumumber to make cups. I then fill these with hummus or chopped salad. It's not hard to do. Now granted, doing a whole cucumber would be a little more difficult but certainly doable. But for something like that they probably have a machine that does it for them.

I'm starting back on raw on Oct. 1st...we are driving out to Ohio (from Maine) on the 4th,a 12hr drive(step son's wedding)
Anyway we are packing a cooler full of stuff for the ride out and I was wondering what I would bring instead of just plain fruits and veggies...now I know!! I'll make my own, I can't stand olives!
what a great idea! can't wait to try it!

I wish I would have thought of that!!!!
That would solve a lot of problems here at work for me because I love to eat salads....kinda messy at the desk.
I will try it for Monday's lunch. If it's a hit.....that will be my new easy way to take lunch to work.
Thanks for the info!!!
