Some days I get up and I just want grapes -- especially those large red globe grapes. They are so delicious for breakfast and if I'm extra hungry I also have a banana smoothie or even better a glass of fresh raw young coconut juice & pulp blended to go with those grapes. YUMMY.
Fruit - its whats for breakfast. . . :)

trinity,
that sounds delish, but can you elaborate about how to do the coconut milk? is it from young coconuts? is it just the juice, or do you add to it?
thanks!!

Here's a good hearty breakfast idea if you can get the ingredients:

1/4 cup raw granola/oats/buckwheat/sprouted seeds
1-2 bananas chopped
1 apple chopped
small handful goji berries or raisins
chopped dried fruit (figs, dates, etc)
flax seeds or cacao nibs for extra crunch

put all of that in a bowl
blend some hemp seeds or soaked nuts with water for a mylk and pour over the mixture...

That's a heavy duty breakfast huh?

Otherwise, I just munch on fruit all morning until I'm ready for something else
or...green smoothie!!!

I love the crepes in Alissa's book for a hearty breakfast. I prep everything the night before. So in the morning I just assemble them and serve. If I'm pressed for time I really enjoy the raw oats soaked overnight with chopped dates, almonds, apricots and honey. It's really filling and also not very time consuming. There are so many combinations you can make to go in them, savoury, fruity, spicy. It's all good. Hope this helps you out.

We usually have fruit for breakfast, but occasionally we might do something else. Sometimes we have cereal for lunch, which could be used for a morning meal instead. We soak raw, hulled buckwheat then sprout it, usually for 24 hours, then dehydrate it. Top with fresh, sliced fruit, such as bananas and strawberries; add raisins, nuts, and almond milk.

Another of our favorite recipes is an adaptation of Banana Pudd'n Porridge from Rejuvenate Your Life by Serene Allison. Take a few cups of sprouted buckwheat, 2 bananas, 3 lg. dates, vanilla, and whatever else you like (we have added cinnamon, coconut oil, chopped fruit (after blending), honey, etc.) and blend in processor. My children love this. It is very similar to cooked oatmeal.

I have nothing to add really as I always have a green smoothie for breakfast but just wanted to say, for yourself, that if you are finding them not filling enough, add more goodies. Here is my usual green smoothie and it keeps me full for hours...

2 cups filtered water (you can also use nut milk or coconut water YUM!)
1 1/2 T chia seeds (I let them sit in the water for a bit to get gelly)
2 T hemp seeds
1-2 T coconut oil
a bunch of nuts (brazil, cashews or almonds)
1/2 a 10oz bag of frozen fruit (strawberries, cherries, raspberry's, peaches etc)
3 bananas
3 handfuls of spinach
2 T cacao
1/2 T maca
a squirt or so of agave

... yummy and oh so filling!

I love the granolas in RFRW, if that's too much advance prep, one other strange thing I sometimes do is grab a corn on the cob and eat it raw on the go. "raw cereal" of sorts. I would say if you added some nuts and a little fruit, that would keep you satiated.

chopped apples with walnuts... I sort of started doing this as a breakfasty version of a waldorf salad. (waldorf is usually apple, celery, walnuts, then a raw mayo on it.) So I put a little creamy type sauce of whatever's handy on them.

You can do it with chopped apple-cinnamon-raw pecans... sometimes I do apples, raspberries, almonds (soaked, sprouted)... whatever's handy. You can put banana slices in it, or involve banana in the sauce.

raw crackers with raw nut butter, made in advance, apple slices or berries on it...

lots of ideas!

Do you want no advance prep also, or just no morning prep?

My current raw breakfast addiction: chia pudding.

Makes 1 serving.

2 T chia seeds
3/4 c vanilla nut milk of choice
Combine above and let soak overnight in the refrigerator.

In the morning, top with chopped fruit (LOVE a nice ripe pear on this) and drizzle with maple syrup (if you use) or agave. It's fast, it's easy, it's yummy, it's healthy, it's fun, it goes down easy.... it's addicting! I've also tried berries and bananas for the topping. Mmmmmm.

My kids love buckwheat crispies! They are really easy to make in the dehydrator.
2 cups of buckwheat groats soaked for at least 1 hour
3/4 cup agave nectar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp gound cinnamon
2 packets stevia
2 tsp sea salt

Rinse soaked groats with water to get rid of the starchiness. Place in the food processor with remaining ingredients and process until very well combined, but not thoroughly pureed.
Dehydrate at 115 for 8-12 hours or until top is dry. Flip and dehydrate for a few more hours until dry and crunchy.

This is from Raw Food, Real World except they use maple syrup not agave.

You can make it any way you like.. the idea is just to get the flavor... the banana's make this porridge nice and creamy. You can put coconut meat into a little water and then strain and use the "mylk"... I make mine as creamy as can be.
