I'll be staying here: http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/wascc-crystal-city-marriott-at-reagan-national-airport/ over the weekend.
Anyone know the area and if I can find real food to take back to my hotel? Bringing personal blender and knives.
Thanks all...

Have fun Revvell! My husband and I used to visit the DC area all the time when we lived in VA. We would park in Crystal City and take the Metro all over the place. I wasn't raw then, but I do remember some neat health food stores in the Georgetown area....not real close to Crystal City though. Sorry I can't be of more help!:o

That's o.k. YouRaw. I appreciate the response.
I think I'm getting in about 8 p.m. tomorrow and the workshop will probably start around 8 or 9 a.m. so, not a lot of time to figure this out. No worries. I'm gooood! I'll find SOMEthing!

maybe something here will help. The only thing that stood out by Crystal City was a TEX-MEX restaurant that had vegan guacamole....

Vegan guac is good. LOL
Thanks for the links. It seems I wont have much time to travel and, unless I meet someone who's got a car, no transport... could grab a cab, maybe. Just received the itinerary...Start at 8 a.m., end at 5 sooooo, something might just work itself out.

Thanks EZ...hmm. Well "raw food" doesn't register. "Restaurant" does. Have a whole list of those. Cool. For the ones that have "Ads" I can get the map as well. Thanks!

I know that you can take the metro to DC and there is a restaurant called Vegetate that is vegan. They may have some raw dishes; you could probably call ahead. If you call them, ask them what metro stop they are on. I know it is metro accessable but I am not sure what stop it is.
I know sunflower vegan restaurant in Vienna has one raw entree and options for side dishes. They also have salads. I have never ordered the entree but I like the restaurant--it is quaint and funky. You could take metro to the vienna stop (orange line) and then you would need to take a taxi to the restaurant.
Sorry I could not be of more help.

Thanks Andra. I'm hoping there are other (is raw too much to hope for?) vegans w/in the 250 or so people at this workshop. Maybe they'll have a car; know about metros or SOMEthing! LOL No fears. It'll all work itself out. Just going to empty that silly wet bar they have in the hotel and then add me own food... got knives, personal blender... what more does one need? :D

The metro is pretty easy to navigate--there are different lines (red, orange, blue) and lots of maps to help a person find out which line to go on. Plus, people are generally helpful and used to tourists so asking somebody for help should not be a problem.
If you cannot find anybody to go out with, Lucy's idea of Whole Foods is good because they have a huge salad bar and also lots of fresh produce so you should not starve. If I did not have to work late I would have offerred to pick you up at Vienna metro stop and I would have taken you to sunflower. They also have fresh juice and smoothies (I think).
Good luck!

O.k. Andra, tell you boss... heh!
Thanks for the info. I'm pretty sure I can figure it out comes the time. May just wander all over the place when I get there as hmmm, 8:30 p.m. there will be 5:30 p.m. here and I will bet I'm not going to be anywhere near ready for sleep.
Thank you for all your assistance. I appreciate it muchly. :)
