Hello my name is Kelvin.

I stumbled onto raw foods by happenstance. Here is my story in a nutshell. I'm 32 going on 60 bc knees, lower back, shoulder--all are in a state of dysfunction from years of playing sports, running and weightlifting.

Seen a few orthopedic surgeons and doctors but rejected the standard voodoo of cortisone shots and anti-inflammatories. I like my liver and kidneys and chose not to take the garbage symptom masking remedies.

Anyways my teammate is 55 and moves around like a gazelle. He runs full speed, covers ground in yards and throws gracefully--all pain free. His secret is raw food. I'm giving it a shot.

I'm making the transition slowly meaning 80 percent raw, 20 percent cooked. I still eat bread and a little bit of meat with friends or family.

I see some benefits already but my question is what are the full benefits of eating raw and what vegetables do you recommend?

Thank you ahead of time for the advice.

I am still eating bread and a little bit of meat. When you are around conventional company its hard to get away from it.

What is the payoff from going all raw, all the time?

And is bread alright?

Check out this thread for some of the benefits of being all raw. http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=32908 It's quite a way to live. You won't feel the full benefits of this way of eating unless you give it a 100% shot. You owe it to yourself to feel and enjoy life the way it was meant to be. G'head - you can do it - give it a shot for 30 days. G'head - you'll even start feeling a wonderful difference in as little as a week or less :)

I think giving up bread was the best thing I ever did. It made me feel sluggish and it kept extra weight on me. I went 100% right away and glad that I did.

There are lots of addictive habits. Sometimes a person can see benefits in giving up an addiction like cooked food but simply is unable to get them selves free. Are you still with us Kelvin ?
