I bought a ronco dehydrator and after reading forums, I checked the temp of mine. It went up to 120 degrees. Is that too high or could I vent it some more to release extra heat?

I also wanted to know how to make the flax crackers in that particular dehydrator and can you use parchment paper instead of waxed, I do not have the teflex sheets.

I also would like to know about the onion bread, I saw the recipe once but cannot seem to find it again on the search.

are the pepperoncini peppers raw? the spicy yellow ones in vinegar

I am getting bored with my food and really need to add some more variety.

Oh and one more question, is the black forest cake recipe sacred? I search for nearly an hour for it last night and only found posts about how it is so good, lol.

Thanks!:)

I don't really know about the heat issue. If I had the ronco or any other round dehydrator I think I would buy the teflex sheets and cut them to fit..would save a lot of hassles. Here's the onion bread recipe...

Onion Bread

2 1/2 lbs sweet onions, peeled
1 cup ground sunflower seeds
1 cup ground golden flax seeds
1/2 cup olive oil
3 oz. Nama Shoyu

Put onions in food processor with 's' blade and process until small pieces, (but not mush). Put in mixing bowl with the other ingredients and mix thoroughly. The flax will absorb liquid. Smooth onto teflex sheets* about 1/4" thick and place in dehydrator for 5 hours, turning over for another 3-4 hours or until dry and crispy. Either break into pieces or cut with a pizza cutter, and store in refrigerator in an airtight container.
*If you don't have an Excalibur dehydrator, any type will do - just use natural unbleached parchment paper instead of the teflex sheets.

As for the black forrest cake..it's in Allissa's book....

thank you so much for the recipe, as for the Ronco dehydrator, what a p.o.s. LOL I am taking it back, I will go without for now or rig up my oven like Alton brown demo'd on his show.
