I have only been raw for three weeks, but I wanted to share my story. I'm sure you'll all nod and think "we've heard this a million times before" but I am SHOCKED!

Ok so I had a lot of bad habits. I loved beer, I loved Diet Coke too much (at least 4 cans a day, usually more) and I love food, but who doesn't. I recently noticed my blood pressure creeping up over the past year. My mom died early of heart failure and I obsess about it, but really wasn't fixing much. I love to work out and I was eating what I thought was a fairly healthy diet. Well as for blood pressure; 120/80 is healthy. 140/85 is creeping up into the danger zone and 160/90 is full blown hypertension.

I was in the 140/85 range for the past year. I noticed it going up to 160/95!! I thought it was a fluke but nope; it was up there for a full week. At the end of that week I found Alissa Cohen's site. I bought the book, fired up the blender and now it's three weeks later.

My blood pressure is consistently 120/75 at most. IN THREE WEEEKS. Yes, beer and caffeine aren't healthy and do raise your BP. I read that cutting that down will lower it at most 3-15mmHg. Mine went down three times that.

I'm pretty sure finding this site saved my life and added many, many happy years to it.

Sooooo great! I've always had stomach issues, but worse right before I went raw. Nothing would help. Within a few days of raw, no more aches, at all. Done. Gone. Wow...

There was a study recently about 5 adults who lived in a zoo for 12 days and stopped eating crap, started eating our diets of fruit and veggies... ALL of them had gone from cholesterol levels that were dangerous to normal in just 12 days!!! Their BP dropped too.

It's so amazing that our bodies were meant to not ache or suffer or have "issues" or pain but to thrive, and all we need to do is eat well = raw.

It boggles my mind that anyone would want to eat SAD/CRAP, but they just don't know what it feels like to be raw. Someone's quote (whose???) on here "Nothing tastes as good as raw feels." That is my mantra these days when anything else enters my consciousness.

Thanks so much for sharing. :) We're glad to have you on here to share and be well!

Congratulations on your really good news! I've been on bp meds for 15 years--the highest it ever was (that I remember) was about 145/80 or something. I've been monitoring it since the end of Decmmber when I went RAW and through the 37 lb. weight loss, but it still is 126/78--that's with still taking all 3 of my meds. I have a check up at the end of next month and I'm prepared to discuss it--maybe wean off some of the stuff anyway.
I'm glad it was so easy and drastic change for you! Keep up your good work. RAW is the way to go, even if I never get off my medication!:)
