I have only been raw for three weeks, but I wanted to share my story. I'm sure you'll all nod and think "we've heard this a million times before" but I am SHOCKED!
Ok so I had a lot of bad habits. I loved beer, I loved Diet Coke too much (at least 4 cans a day, usually more) and I love food, but who doesn't. I recently noticed my blood pressure creeping up over the past year. My mom died early of heart failure and I obsess about it, but really wasn't fixing much. I love to work out and I was eating what I thought was a fairly healthy diet. Well as for blood pressure; 120/80 is healthy. 140/85 is creeping up into the danger zone and 160/90 is full blown hypertension.
I was in the 140/85 range for the past year. I noticed it going up to 160/95!! I thought it was a fluke but nope; it was up there for a full week. At the end of that week I found Alissa Cohen's site. I bought the book, fired up the blender and now it's three weeks later.
My blood pressure is consistently 120/75 at most. IN THREE WEEEKS. Yes, beer and caffeine aren't healthy and do raise your BP. I read that cutting that down will lower it at most 3-15mmHg. Mine went down three times that.
I'm pretty sure finding this site saved my life and added many, many happy years to it.
