I am interested in finding tips on how to stay raw when eating out. My husband and I used to eat out a lot, but now that I am trying to be raw, we haven't gone out as much. We did go out tonight unexpectedly, we were out running errands and it was getting late. I had a hard time finding something raw....even the salads came tossed with dressing ..etc. I had to ask for a special order and even then it wasn't quite right.

What do you do? I don't think there are any raw or even vegan restaurants where I live...should search for that.

My husband and I like to frequent a Mexican restaurant by our home. I take a sliced jicima to dip the salsa. We order fajitas. He gets the meat, beans, cheese, sour cream, chips and tortillas. I take the guacamole, pico de gallo, and lettuce and make a salad with it and top it with salsa. I grab some of the bell peppers and onions before they sizzle too much on the fajita skillet. Works great for us. I'm full, he has leftovers, and we had our "date".

Thanks for such a great response! Mexican food has always been our favorite, but I really didn't know how to even approach one! Time to buy some jicama!:D :D

I only order Salads and if I am SOL I get a 100% fruit smoothie. And that's it.

youraw,

Great question as I just don't eat out at all. I only ate out once and awhile before RAW but now I just find I don't want to pay for a salad and go through the trouble of a special order when I can make it at home.

I get salads and I always ask for them with no dressing. I prefer them that way. If there are things on the salad that I don't want, I ask for them to be left off. If they get it wrong, I send it back. I prefer places with salad bars that have a lot of different kinds of plain raw veggies, but those seem to be few and far between any more.

I agree with the Mexican places too. Most of the ones around here have an assortment of salads that are wonderful. And I love pico de gallo.
