Hello all I am on day 38 of 100% Raw and am feeling awesome!.

Over the last few days I have felt my body begging me to fast and so when I woke up this morning I knew today was the day :)

I am hoping some of you will join and support me please:D

I wil be drinking water and juice only!

I am aiming for 21days but we will see...one day at a time :)

Good luck. Just make sure you are drinking enough. I got really dizzy by my third day and could not go further. Just be prepared every day with fresh juice. Keep posting your results. Best wishes to you.

Tomorrow will officially be my Day 1, as it will be Monday. Fast will be mainly water and unsweetened tea, but have bought juice if needed for 30 days. Have done this before ( years ago ) and lost ALOT, so i have no doubt i can succeed again.

This is day 2 of my orange juice fast. I'm making my orange juice fresh right when I drink it. I add a little grade b maple syrup or organic unsulphured molasses sometimes for extra calories, since I'm very active. At night I'm taking some herbs that keep me regular. They say when you're fasting you should have at least 1 BM every day or else quit the fast.

Have you done totally orange before? I ask this cos I always start my day with citrus but the last time I fasted ( several years ago for 40 days lol) I found the acid caused me pain when I pee'd after a while so I had to dilute it a lot, ohh orange all day owch lol I cant imagine..so watch out:o Nice topivc for new friends , I hope you do not mind

I don't mind at all Yeshia. Yes I have fasted with only orange before. I know a lot of other people who have too and none of us have had any problems. My fast is kind of a modified Master Cleanse. Oranges instead of lemons and herbs instead of the salt water flush. My interest in oranges came from hearing about a doctor at the turn of the century who would cure just about any disease with a 14 day orange juice fast. Plus I love oranges!

Day 3 today. So far so good. I went surfing twice yesterday and ended up sleeping 10 hours last night. I've been hungry but have felt strong enough to deal with it. The fast hasn't been all that hard so far, really. It's funny how while not fasting cravings for bad food can overwhelm you, but you can start a fast and stay away from all food.

I would love to do the fast with you. I just started today.

Goals of my fast:
-To remove 20 lbs of fat
-To further improve upon my lifestyle diet
-To get ready to train for my second (and final) marathon in March of 2008

For the first 2 days I will have a fruit smoothie in the morning. I had one this morning and I will have one tomorrow morning if it doesn't prove to be more difficult to control hunger and cravings. As a matter of fact, if I can still control my hunger and lose fat while drinking a smoothie, then I would do it the entire fast. My my main objective is to lose fat so I want to maintain the speed of my metabolism for as long as I can given that it will slow more with each additional day of fasting. If I could tolerate protein powder in my juice I would drink it just so I could continue my strength training. But I guess I will have to put the strength training on hold during the fast but I always do cardio throughout the entire fasting experience.

Well, I love forward to fasting with you and supporting each other.

Day 2 for me.

No smoothie today because they were so delicious on yesterday that it may me think about food even more. So I am moving to all juice today.

Today I will be having my version of the master cleanse concocotion which is lemon juice and agave. If I have a chance to make it to the health food store, I will buy some freshly squeezed juice because I'm too lazy to do it myself.

Good for you Yesiha on your fast. How are you doing so far? We have about the same goal weight. My start weight was 231.4. I am at 204.8 now. I am catching up with you. I can't wait to see 189.

Thanks a lot, actually moving from raw into the fast had been very easy in terms of no headache which usually happens. Except today I am really starving lol.

189 is a great weight he he... it was sooo good to pass under 190 you will love it :) a mile stone for me that is sure!

Its cool we have the same goal weight xoxox How tall are you I am 5ft, 6 and half inches. I set this weight because when I was younger i never got less than that. I was really in shape then and looked about 15lbs lighter than i really was. I don't know if that will be the same but I figured a realistic goal was good and WHEN lol I reach it I can adjust it!

At night I take a heaping teaspoon of this herbal combination: Cascara sagrada bark, barberry bark, ginger root, lobelia herb, red raspberry leaf, turkey rhubarb root, fennel seed and golden seal root. It "keeps things moving."

I order the organic herbs online in bulk and mix them up myself. This is basically Dr. Christopher's formula to strengthen and clean the digestive tract, although he adds cayenne as well. Originally the formula came from Germany. Most people take it in capsules because they can't stand the taste. I think the best supplier of the capsules is the Barefoot Herbalist.

Day 4 has been great. I had plenty of energy today and also felt light and clear.

hello all of you!! this is exactly what im looking for! fasting buddies. i did the master cleanser for 15 days like 9 months ago and i've tried to do it againsince then and haven't found the will to do it. but this is exactly what i needed. support:D . im looking to lose about 30 lbs. and get my energy back so i can get back to wanting to excercise and look and feel good. i also have a few photo shoots that i keep pushing back because i dont feel or look good. im going to start the master cleanser tomorrow!! wish me luck. i'l be checking in if i feel like caving in.

I'm starting brikam Yoga tonite and so that will help the detox while im waiting.

The herbs are all in equal parts except you use twice the amount of Cascara Sagrada. You may want to put the herbs in capsules because not many people can handle eating these particular herbs straight. You can also order them in capsules from the Barefoot Herbalist. The juice is just fresh squeezed orange juice. I add a little organic grade b maple syrup if I'm really hungry.

Well, I made it to Whole Foods on yesterday and bought enough to last about 3 days. Since I spent $40 on the juice there is no way I am stopping. However, I might switch to the October smoothie fast after the first 10 lb. lost because I just don't want to go 30 days without weight training.

I fasted 5 days and am done now. I went to the farmer's market yesterday and they gave me 20 pounds of white nectarines for free because they were bruised. I took that as a sign. ;)

The fast was great. It was surprisingly easy and I am left with a feeling of clarity and lightness. I will be eating fruit exclusively now and will add some greens at some point. Probably wheatgrass juice.

I might switch to the smoothies too I was only staying on the juice in support of everyone , so when you switch I probably will to lol

I'm weight training too I haven't stopped cos of my fast and do not plan to!

Yeshia you are doing great. Perhaps we can really do this together all the way through. I know you are 4 days ahead of me but that's okay.

That's interesting that you still strength train while fasting. I've always read that you shouldn't.

I've always assummed the reason for advising not to is because of the muscle loss and extremely low protein intake while juice fasting. I'm afraid that when I tear the muscle fibers that it will be too hard on my body to repair them thus stalling the weight loss trying to repair. I've never read this anywhere but based on what I know about strength training it just makes sense to me. So you have to let me know how it works out for you. Hopefully it only takes to 10 to 12 days to drop 10 lbs. I want to lose the other 5 strictly via lifestyle diet and exercise. Anyway, I've made such great gains over the last few weeks and don't want to jeopardize all of my gains.

When I do weights during a fast it is strictly maintainance.
light weights only!

However, he he I have changed my game plan .I am doing only Brikram Yoga during my fast.

I just finished my second class and I love it.

It is much closer to where my head space is now:)

I feel so energized and good .

can I join? I'm 3.5 weeks raw and I started a juice fast this morning. I fasted for 28 days last year, then ate SAD until 3.5 weeks ago. (smack!) and gained TWENTY-SEVEN pounds!!! So far I have lost 11 lbs on raw. i haven't had one slip up (this is my 3rd or 4th go around with raw, so I think I've "got it" now. lol!)

My goal is to fast for 20-40 days depending on what my body tells me. I have a very important event in Dec and I want to be clear and light and glowing for it. I don't have time to just be and stay raw, so I am jump starting my detox with a fast.

So-will you have me for a fasting partner? :confused: :D

Hopefully today is the day my system will shut down. I went for a 4 mi walk yesterday, but I felt so great that I ended up running 2/3 of it! Tell me about how you are doing, feeling, what you are thinking, etc. Sorry to be so late to jump on board. Each in his own timing, no? :cool:

Yeshia, Yeshia, Yeshia... I am so sorry that I abandoned you. It's pretty tough going it alone. I know because I just finished 56 day juice fast in July. I thought I had it in the bag but I still gave in to temptation over the weekend. However, experience is on my side. I started and stopped twice the last time so usually 3rd times a charm for me.

I enjoyed a nice Thia dinner last night before starting again this morning. So I am hoping that it's that 3rd time that I needed to really get things going. However, I refuse to make any bold statements until after I've done at least 5days. Once I reach 5 days, I considered that to be too much to turn back.

Hi Zaphirah. Welcome and glad that you've been hanging in there with Yeshia. Yeshia, I've really been wanting to try Brikram Yoga. I will ask you more about it on Monday once I am really into the zone of juice fasting. Hopefully both of you will put your faith in me once more. Once I'm in, I'm in...but I just have to get over the hump. Because I recently did a fast, I don't have cravings and I've never had any type of obvvious detox but I just simply miss eating in the beginning of starting a fast.

I am still going strong. I like fasting. I am going hiking this morning with my 4 yo dd. I may be switching over to water for awhile. The juice is getting less and less interesting, if ya know what I mean?

Today is Day 9 and I'm feeling pretty good. Most of what I've been going thru has been chronicled in my RFT blog. I feel mellow, relaxed, and kind "internal"-does that make sense. What I mean is that most of what other poeple are doing and saying doesn't matter to me-I mean the superficial stuff. and the stuff that really matters like feelings and emotions I can really connect with people and comfort them and I seem to have the right compassionate things to say. It's like compassion is being channeled thru me! Now, anyone who knows me IRL wouldn't even believe it. I'm kinda rough around the edges with biting humor. Lately I have had less and less to say. It's like I am reserving my energy for healing, instead of superfluous chatting.

oh yeah-I should mention that I have lost 9 lbs and finally snuck into the 140s this morning. All in all, since Sept 7th I have lost 20 lbs. I feel pretty good about that. Yesterday I was able to squeeze into my size 8s. Maybe in another week or so I will be wearing them again! A year ago I actually went out and bought several pants, shirts and a skirt in size 5/6-my goal size. I have had them sitting in a clear plastic container in my room right out in the open this whole time. Yesterday I went thru them, knowing it is only a matter of a month or 2 before they are going to fit!

good plan. That's what I am doing. I'm not saying "I'm on day 9-so only 31 more days to go" -that puts the emphasis on how on I still have to work and does not give me the credit for how far I have come, ya know?

I am so glad all is going well for you. I know what you mean about the less and less to say I feel the same way lol. i am feeling mello most of the time with moments of agitation every now and again. I am not on a true fsat as of thanksgiving, my vitamix arrived and I am blending everything as its fastter and easier that juicing which as I am busy at work is easier right now and I am still loosing lots of lovely weight I will update you on that soon.

Day 11. Yesterday I drank just water and expected to lose more than 1/2 a pound, but this morning I got on the scale and was a little disappointed. I won't make my goal at this rate, which is a little discouraging, but at least I will gain super health. :cool:

how often do you weight yourself? i get on the scale once a week max and usually just once every two or three weeks. this way, you don't see the ups and downs and get depressed over it.

i did juices yesterday and hope to get by the 'booster juice' in the two an hour away to have some wheatgrass today.

the general rule of thumb is that nothing looks appealing.

today is day 16 for me. On day 14 I *suddenly* felt much better. Yesterday I did more house work than the the other 14 days combined! Last night I had dreams about eating meat, and chips and dip-then this morning the scale was 2 lbs UP. Better curb those dreams before I gain it all back. LOL!

i'm sorry i didn't make it with you - i've just found my life at this moment isn't condusive to fasting... although i am juicing whenever i can but being stuck in a city with no juice bar makes it tough. so i've been doing RAW as well.

day 16 wow!!!
