Hi,

I have a question , why are Wise and Kettle brand Potato chips  advertised on this site. I was reading the post by vegiemom dated 4/4/05 titled Potato Chip Attack. Great Recipes, but at the bottom of the page there are links advertising both Wise and Kettle Brand potato chips.

Anyone know why this is?

Thanks
Sondra

Hi SJ,

Well, I believe the ads you're referring to are the Google ads? I don't see them because my computer has ad/pop-up blockers. But what I'm gonna assume is that there is only so much control that Alissa has over what ads will circulate via Google. I'm sure she chose for "Health-related" ads, and to my knowledge, Kettle chips are supposed to be "healthier" than most commercial brands; don't know anything about the Wise brand (perhaps the same?).

So, rather than advertising Frito Lay brands, they advertise what is supposedly the healthier alternative. But yeah, that's not good to have ads for potato chips of ANY brand, "healthy" or not, on a raw foods board...but the ads are here to help eat some of the cost of running the board.

I almost wrote "but you would think that google would be a little more sensitive" but I realized just how stupid that sounds, since we are talking about a large corporation

I will just ignore them. So there :D

I don't get them either, but that's because I refuse to use Microsoft whenever possible, so I gave Internet Explorer the boot and use wonderful marvelous Netscape as a browser -- its builtin pop-up blocker is terrific. Also, of course, a firewall and another pop-up blocker in addition to virus detect protection on all the times. Can't be too careful these days!! hee hee

yes netscape is good! my brother worked with the founders when it was a tiny company in a small office ,we got it free then -but it went out in the late 90's and we lost our free access.......He is such a computer nerd  ,lol :p ! but I love him for it :)

Maybe im not suppose to announce this but *and im whispering here so the google people don’t hear me* when you click on the adds it helps Alissa pay for this site. that is why she put them here. Just clicking on a bunch of them every once in a while i feel is my contribution :D

I didn't know that, considering all that she has done for us, I too can click, click, click away :D

I think she's great, so anything that I can do to assist, I will.

Thanks again
Sondra

Netscape (the browser) is free still, VeganVixen. If you want to use Netscape (the ISP) to access the internet, no, it's not free -- this has been a fairly new addition to Netscape's services. But ... you can always download the browser, or it's newer version -- Mozilla, for free.

when you click on the adds it helps Alissa pay for this site. that is why she put them here.
Are you sure about this, veg-one?

Yep, she's correct. Just clicking on the ads (don't have to buy anything) generates money for the site. Alissa had mentioned it a while back
