I'd like to lose about 20 lbs. Is this a good way to do it?
I understand that I don't need to really count anything, and can eat to satisfaction?
I ordered Allyssa's book...but can someone help me out in the meantime?
Thanks!
And yes, I love green smoothies. :)

IF you indeed have 20 pounds that needs to go...it will...like magic. BUT, the real reward is in how AMAZING you will feel! :)

Raw foods will bring you to the exact weight that your body functions optimally at, whether that is twenty pounds less, forty pounds less, or ten pounds more (usually not the case in our society), only your body knows. Six months into the diet I am quite certain you won't care how much you weigh anymore.

Oh, Yes! If you're 100%, you will definitely see the weight go if it needs to. I lost 17 lbs in the first 6 weeks and have kept it off. In a couple of days, I will be entering week #10. My skin is glowing, allergies are history, and sleep hasn't been this good in a long time!!! Go for it! :)

In just two months I lost 28lbs and I felt so healthy it was unreal.
if you don't have Alissa's book and video yet it really helps, I found that it was full of tips and recipes that you can eat and enjoy raw from the moment you start.
good luck and you know we are all here for you.

Now for the other side of the coin. Don't get crazy if you don't lose the weight as fast as some of the others. So much is going on inside that it may take a little longer to show on the outside. Weight loss can be achieved by ANY diet program. Health is another matter. Get healthy eating raw (whether you feel sick or not--we all are in this world!). The weight will come off as a consequence. Don't look for the magic bullet in raw.

Ok I will add to this after years of dieting this is the first time I have felt good about my body, I have stopped thinking about my weight and started thinking of my health. I think you will feel so good on raw living food that your weight will not be an issue for very long.

I have been high raw for a couple of weeks and switched over to 100% like allissa suggested. It makes a big difference imo. I have not been doing this for a long time but I am seeing instant results with my weightloss. My belly has gone WAY down. I am going to focus on working out so that my muscle mass will not diminish too much.
Welcome and don't forget to post your success

Yes, raw is a good way to lose weight, but a better way for optimal health. Losing weight was secondary to me. I am healthy now. I am living pain free now. I am energetic now. I sleep well now. I wake up refreshed now. I am living now.
As others have said don't expect miracles to happen overnight. Every BODY is different. If you are looking for a quick fix - it may not happen and then if you go back to eating SAD/CRAP foods, you will jeopardize your body - send it back into an unhealthy mode and probably gain the weight back and then some.
This is a life-long commitment for optimal health not simply weight loss.

You have gotten a WHOLE LOT OF REALLY GOOOD ADVICE here MusicalRawLady....
Read Veganforlife's testimony.... check out her progress photos... its right there above - just click on the link ...
it will change your life if you are patient, trust the process and respect your self and love yourself enough to allow yourself the time you need to heal and lose the weight. The weight didn't get there overnight - it didn't get there in two weeks, 30 days or even 3 months... its not going to leave overnight! BUT IT WILL LEAVE... if you are patient and if you are willing to jump in and give it 100% of your effort....
good luck!

Thanks StarFire! MusicalRawLady - read HER story - StarFire's! Talk about a transformation! And if you're still not convinced, read ALL you can and look at all the testimonials you can here on Alissa's web site and any other raw books, web sites you can get your hands on. You will see how healing raw is. Give it 30 days a true, 100% 30-day raw challenge then YOU decide how well you feel.
OH - don't obsess with the scale. They are evil things. They lie. Your body doesn't. It tells you how it feels. What it wants to eat, when it wants to rest, when it wants to play, etc. You will learn all of this..
good luck!

Well just look below and Click on the link that says all 3 pictures in one. I lost 154 lbs so far on Raw food eating. I started May 24th 2006 The best part is how good you feel too. I was border line Diabetic when I started and after one year I was back to normal. So it really Improves your health. It goes to show you, If you give your body what it needs it will heal anything. There is no medisine that can come close to that.

IMO, going 100% raw is the best way to lose weight and regain health at the same time. For me the key was to go 100% raw rather then trying to eat some cooked food along with the raw food. The cravings for the dead foods will soon stop if you don't keep teasing them along with ANYthing but 100% raw foods. Join in the monthly raw challenge:

and get the support and help you need to make it happen.

MusicalRawLady,
Yes, you will lose weight probably. The thing I realized maybe a month ago was you have to be consistent. I've been raw for 15 weeks now and I've lost about 22.5 pounds but started at 199 pounds. Now that's great and all but I had the notion that I would lose bags of it quickly. I think most of us are conditioned to want results right now so I was a bit discouraged if I had a week where I lost nothing. Like last week and this weight I gained a pound and got really upset. I had to take a step back and say you are eating well, you are feeling better and you just need to keep going. Now I'm losing inches so trying to not be so weight focused now and figure my body will get to where it needs to be when it wants too. This is a learning process for me.

Hi,
I'm trying to lose about 25 pounds, too, and from everything that I've read here and on other raw food websites, raw foods is the BEST way to do it!
I'm so new here...About 30 minutes new, that I posted a question in my blogging area!! I'm also about 30 minutes new to blogging!!
I've heard that it's a great way to loose weight and what's more, everything tha's out of sorts with your body (fatigue, health issues, allergies, etc.) can't survive in you once your body becomes healthy...
Your mind, too, becomes healthier & more clear...
I can't wait to to see where my journey takes me....
Thank you MusicRawLady for asking this question, and also everyone else for answering it! This is the exact thread that has re-motivated me to give 100% raw another go! I have just started my first blog here just like you MangoMyst! :) And I'm also hoping to lose 20-25lbs.
Here's to reaching a healthy weight the raw natural way, and also to just being healthy overall! :D
