I love stevia. It really punches up the taste of smoothies however everytime I use it over an extended period of time I begin losing hair. Lots of hair. When I stop using stevia the problem goes away. I suspected this some time ago and have experimented several times. Each time I start using it my hair begins falling out.
I am just putting this out there for anyone who might be experiencing hair loss. The first thing people will say is our hair loss is related to missing nutrients. In my case this was not true. It was stevia.

Oh my gosh! You may have just helped me with a problem!
A couple years ago, I lost my husband. Not long after, my hair began to fall out. I always assumed that it was stress (because a couple grey hairs popped up at the same time lol) but now I really have to wonder.
Diabetis runs in my family and I have always craved sugars/sweets. Going raw has helped me with that immensely as I'm taking in natural sugars now. But maybe it's all the sugar that's making my hair thin! Holy moly!
Waiting eagerly for responses.... :D

I dont think stevia doesnt have a ton of natural sugars
No, stevia doesn't have any sugars but sweet tastes do cause insulin spikes in some people, even without the sugars. (my diabetic mom gets sugar spikes from stevia *and* artificial sugar.)
That's all I know. Wish I knew more to help you.

I should clarify... lol I know that stevia and fructose are not equals. But I just got so darned excited thinking that maybe something I was EATING was causing it. And if stevia causes it in someone else, maybe fructose or sucrose causes it in me. Could be a major revelation for me!

Sucrose will cause issues with hair. I am glad for the info on stevia -I use agave nectar and it is wonderful with my diabetes. I do not get the spikes.
