Is it true that this is an aid in weight loss? What kind? An how?

Lots of people say it is, but to me - excess calories act as excess calories in my body. So while it may taste good and fill you up, overeating coconut oil past what your body needs isn't going to magically make you lose weight.

I have been taking approx. 1 tsp. per day of Nutiva brand, for about the past 3 months or so...sorry, no weight loss. Once my jar is done, I don't plan on getting any more.

On Alissa's plan, we don't worry or count calories. There's no such thing as "excess calories" when eating 100% raw unless you're eating outrageous amounts. Balance! If you aren't 100% raw, coconut oil/butter or any fat *may* even make you gain if you're eating cooked foods in any amount.
There's no magic one product for weight loss. Eating 100% raw living foods is the key!

okay, coconut oil can help with weight loss. i would say you have to be taking more than 1 tsp a day though, more like 3-4 tbsp. you would also have to be subsituting the coconut oil for other fats in the diet. the reason coconut oil is reputed for weight loss is bc the medium chain triglyercides in coconut oil are converted immediatley into energy for your body to use. unlike other fats, coconut oil isn't stored as fat nor does it circulate throughout your body. coconut oil also helps raise the metabolism and is said to be good for people with thyroid issues. i personally find it very satiating and the more coconut/oil i consume the less i eat in general, the more energized/well i feel as well. its also absolutely amazing for your skin taken internally an externally. do some research on it, there is loads out there. you need to use it correctly if you want weight loss, it CAN be a very helpful tool.

Okay - samariah -- that was such an awesome answer - I actually copied it ... cuz this question is posted often - so if you see me answering this question and it looks familiar -- it cuz it's yours!!! I will also be posting your name and giving you credit for such a great answer!!! ;)
for me... I think I'm known as the coconut oil queen around here! (and a few other things too!!! hheheeeee :D )... Yes... for me-- coconut oil has been an amazing addition to my life!!
I oil pull with it....
I moisturize with it...
I eat it.....
and my weight had been at a plateau for 3 months - as soon as I started taking the coconut oil 2 to 3 times a day like samariah suggests... I broke through the plateau.
$$ is a little bit tight right now - and I've been out of coconut oil... my weight has gone up about 5 pounds!! beleive me -- as soon as I can - I'm going to get more!
as far as brand -- Alissa has some in her store you can order on line -- everyone that tries it raves about it! I use the Nutiva brand - Raw Organic extra virgin coconut oil and I buy it at the hfs. I don't mind the taste. Some people cannot stand the taste - but they love the taste of the coconut oil Alissa sells!
hope that helps...! I think everyone is so indiviudal - what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another!
good luck! http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/c20ch4.gif
