Hi, everyone. This is fun, reading RFT. I have had Alissa's book, CD and every single appliance since her first website went up several years ago. I started out for the first two years with a bang. But, for the last year and a half, I had eaten all organic and vegetarian, but reverting back to many boxed or packaged foods, albeit organic, ha! As a result, I gained 15 pounds and was just not feeling good. Anyways, I have a lot less stress in my life right now and am able to focus on myself more. I have gone from no exercise to cross training 6 days a week. I am eating all raw and loving it soooo much. I think in the past, I was making it waaay too complicated. When her book first came out, I had made over 40 recipes in Alissa's book and had a blast, but found that I was in the kitchen for hours on end. Alissa is incredibly gifted and constantly amazes me. My problem was, I forgot the "simple" things, like eating a handful of raw pumpkin seeds for a snack, or just bananas for breakfast, etc. I was always doing complicated things and almost got burned out. I have been married to a wonderful husband for 12 years and have a 8 and 9 yr old. I am very blessed. My husband is extremely supportive and thinks everything I make is great. He does all the daily juicing (as long as I keep up with the laundry, that is our deal, ha, ha). I have a very compliant 9 yr old daughter as to whatever I make and a not so compliant son (8 yrs) who I have to make him eat what I fix every day. Well, as a result of my new path, I have lost 10 pounds and 13 inches in 5 weeks!!! That is exciting to me. I am sleeping much better, too. Thanks for reading. Have a great raw day. :)

Good to meet you! I live a little south of Houston.
Wow, you made 40 of Alissa's recipes! That's great!
Simple is nice. It is also a lot easier to stay raw, in my opinion, if you can keep it simple.
Copngrats on the weight loss too!:D Doesn't that feel great?!
Keep it up. You are doing great.

Welcome - from another Texan! Sounds like you've already had lots of experience in the raw realm, so maybe you can teach some of us newbies a few things! Isn't Alissa's book just the best!? I'm actually having withdrawal, as I've loaned my copy to my parents and they haven't given it back yet!

Wow, how fun to get to my computer and see all the welcome notes. Thank you all!!! This is great. I see how getting on RFT daily to read and write is a great accountability tool. Thank you to everyone who wrote to me and I look forward to our journey together. I am 37 years old, 5', 5 1/2" and currently weigh 147 and feel much better weighing in the 130's, so that is my goal by Thanksgiving. The thing that is new for me is building muscle at the same time as the pounds come off. It is neat to read that muscle built on raw foods is so much better than when people build muscle on fake foods or a meat diet, etc. I have never been very strong, so this is exciting to not just eat healthy, but to build my body on the best ingredients.

Hello, Raw Princess! You are just up the road from me. I live in Nacogdoches. Being able to read what others have to say about their experiences with the raw food lifestyle has helped so much to keep me on track and motivated. When I feel like I'm going to slip up I can log on and find the inspiration I need to keep going. I will look forward to watching your progress. :)
