One of the guys I work with had a big box of delicious looking chocolate covered donuts and he walked right up to me and held the box open and tried and tried to get me to take one. However, I had my green smoothie in my hand that I was drinking. I was kind of tempted but knew I would regret it if I took one. No thanks, I'm totally happy with my smoothie, thanks anyway! ;)

Hi Garden Granny,

Good for you for sticking it out... sometimes it is hard to find the will power to resist but when you do, it is so empowering.

I was at a party a few weeks ago and couldn't believe all the junk food, and people were woofing it down. I brought my green smoothies which people bulked at ... but I just kept on my path and didn't give in the the temptation. And felt so good after that I didn't.

P.S. I did give in to some wheat a few months ago thinking its only a bite; but boy, that bite did me in. I was in bed with my head poundnig for the rest of the night. I won't be doing that again anytime soon!

Keep it up and don't ever give in!!!!
Cheers (with a green smoothie, of course!).

Good for you! :D That's great. I had a green smoothie too, so you weren't alone!

Big Hugs.

Unfortunately, I gave in recently ... but I paid for it...GI issues all night.

Good lesson....

garden granny,

Oh good for you. I know it's tough. I've been raw for almost 4 months and still struggle with temptations.

As yet, I haven't given in. A few weeks back I went to a Raw potluck my first one and was so excited. So I get there and I sit at a table with people who were new to Raw and almost everyone I met wasn't 100% and I'm cool with that. So then I go and try a bit of all the food that I assume is 100% raw and went with my mom and sister and we all got sick from it so something in there wasn't raw. I was kinda bummed and realized I just have to prepare everything myself from now on.

Yesterday went to a grand opening of my favourite grocery store. They opened one up near my house. Oh the temptations were difficult, they were handing out cookies, cakes, cheese, etc. Now none of that got to me but watching them make personal pan pizza's in their new wood oven was tough and their breads looked good. I know once I tasted it I would be disappointed but it's overcoming what you see a lot of times and remembering the old tastes.

It's hard too because sometimes people get offended when you don't eat their food. Everyday you are going against the grain of society and what the ads on TV try to sell you.

donuts mean 1 thing to me...HEARTBURNThat happens to a lot of people and acid reflux too and also a lot of people get a bad after taste. By law they must change their cooking oil every 30 days so they just keep putting the donuts (muffins too) into the fryer. The problem with that is that the oil goes rancid rapidly after it is in use. When they finally throw out the old rancid oil it smells so bad its enough to gag you. If a person is going to eat that stuff the least they can do is make it fresh themselves. By the way some people re-use their frying oil at home and I have heard that might possibly cause stomach cancer.

Donuts are easy for me to turn down. Although quite oddly, they smell good, they do not taste good to me. Like sweet grease. And with my food allergies, I know how sick I would get if I took just one bite. Nope. Not for me.

I am so impressed I think I would of ate the donut. I would of had a hard time saying no to the person, and even a harder time saying no to the donut. But, I am still new to raw foods and green smoothies. But the good news is that I probably wouldn't have chase the guy down for another donut!
