Hi! I am new to raw and I have been eating 90% raw for two days now. Today is day 3. I just can't give up my coffee w/ soy yet. :(

A little about me:

I live in Atlanta, GA but I am originally from Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I moved for work about 3 years ago to GA. I am 27 as of Monday and I am divorced. I was vegan until I was 8. Then slowly ate chicken, cheese, and then by 14 beef. I was always a "thick" teen, but now that I look at the pictures never fat. I put on a lot of weight while married. My husband was the pizza, bean burrito, ice cream master. It was hard for me to stick to a healthy diet plan with him in my life.

Now, I met a great new guy who introduced me to raw. He fell off the wagon a while ago and after talking with me about it we decided to do it for our health. We keep each other on track now. I ordered Alissa's book and should be receiving it today YAY! He already knows a few recipes from the first time he went raw. So we have been eating Flax crackers, Zucchini Spaghetti, Guacamole, and Salads. I munch on fruit and nuts. I don't eat too many nuts probably 6 or so a day. I have a breakfast drink every morning. I use apples and bananas and Superfood Plus:

Spirulina Blue-Green Algae, Chlorella Algae, Alfalfa grass, Barley grass, Wheat grass, Purple Dulse Seaweed, Beet root, Spinach leaf, Acerola Cherry, Rose hips, Orange and Lemon peels and non-active Saccharomyces cervisiae Nutritional Yeast

Hmm...I guess that's about it.

Hey hey,

We lived in Ft. Lauderdale and Atlanta when I was growing up! I remember noticing that there is someone who does the raw food certification classes in Atlanta (on the left of the screen, it says "find an alissa cohen certified..."). I really got a lot out of going to that class AFTER a little while (a few months) of trying to be raw. It was great to ask lots of questions, etc.

Anyways, welcome! It sounds like you're off to a great start, and you will find tons of good recipes in Alissa's book. :)

I am also new to going raw. I haven't ordered Alissa's book yet, but am considering it. ~ Does anyone have any advice for those who are the only "raw" person in the house. I want to go all the way with this, but it is hard when I have no real support and the fact that all of my favorite non raw foods are constantly staring at me, sucking me in. I love the way I feel when I eat live foods, but the temptations are very strong sometimes...help!
