Karene~
Congrats of getting raw!!! And welcome to the forum~:)
This is just my opinion but weighing in every day can make a person crazy.
Your weight can vary as much as several lbs. throughout the day depending on what you've eaten, salt content, water held in the tissues. Raw is about so much more than that. Chances are you are not doing anything wrong at all. Just keep eating raw and see what happens.

Yes ! If you weigh daily you will so a weight fluctuation of a few pds one way or another. So unless you are seeing a consistant daily weight increase over time then be concerned, not in a few days. Salt consumption (naturally in some foods or adding it ) will change your water balance. Also BM's or lack of can make a dif too. I do not weigh daily becuz it would make me crazy ! In fact if all my clothes fit the same I do not weigh, if things seem tight or looser, then I weigh in.

Thanks for resonding girls,
I am juicing in the morning, kale, cucumber, apple, ginger and spirlina (sp)
lunch, large salad with lots of veggies, apple, nuts and lemon and oil dressing
maybe a handful of nuts in between, 4 or 5, not much
tomatoe sauce and veggies for dinner
I have been sticking to that pretty much the whole time. I made one dessert that i have been snacking on all week.
So what do you think.

I am driving myself crazy with weighting in everyday. I can't help it, I feel so great and lean that I fell like I am melting away. Then I get on the scale and I am in total disblief that the number does not change!!!!
I must say I have never felt better being 100% raw. I use to feel so bloated, full and cranky all the time. Not to mention I was always hungry...yuk, what a way to live.
Alright so I wil only weight in once a week. Yes???
thanks for listening

I think I agree with everyone else. Don't weigh yourself too much or you're bound to have upswings that are upsetting. I know this from personal experience. If you track your weight in something like calorie-count.com, it'll show you a trend line that is very comforting. Yes, your weight does go up and down but the trend line shows you the overall movement of weight. Lemme show you mine:

Look at the green trend line after starting raw. I have had some huge jumps but it keeps going down.

Hi Karene,
It sounds like you already have the answer...for now focus on how great you feel and what a healthy change you are making. The weightloss will happen when your body is ready. ((hugs)):D

IMO I think you should be eating more! You have to eat to lose weight. Seriously! Add a green smoothie to your food plan to get your fiber up. Also green smoothies help build stomach acid that breaks down your food better, The fiber acts like a sponge to soak up all the toxins and carry them out of the body. Also green smoothies are way cheaper to make than juice. All you need is a cheap blender and clean up is a lot easier at least for me than cleaning my juicer. Also I personally love the scale. It gives me motivation and validation. I say weigh in if you like, but if you get down after weighing in then skip it. If I weigh in higher than I think I should I know I should check and make sure I am on track.

First of all, congrats on releasing 7lbs!! You are doing nothing wrong - it is perfectly normal for body weight to fluctuate from one day to the next (consider that 1 liter of water weighs just over 2 lbs), and it is hard to evaluate muscle gain vs fat loss. Are your clothes fitting better? Feeling more energized? (JMO) I have found that the latter is a much better way of measuring fitness achievement. ~ Cathy

The key to losing weight is definitely eating more often. It's even more crucial than exercise.

Just by looking at what you're eating, I think you need some more fats in your diet... It doesn't look like you're eating much at all.

I was feeling really discouraged as well because in my first week of raw I lost 4#'s and I haven't lost a pound since. I am on week 5 now. That being said, I have seen my body change and I look 100% better than I did 5 weeks ago without having released much weight. It's important to remember as well that your body heals itself based on what needs to be healed first. Maybe weight is secondary to something more important going on internally.

I haven't read all of the replies so please forgive me if I'm repeating something already stated. But if you can, please try to not weigh everyday...get someone to hide your scale if need be. But our bodies go through a LOT of changes, especially when new to raw. There are adjustments being made and sometimes weight will fluctuate. Also, keep in mind that weight isn't always about fat or whatever...sometimes it's water, sometimes it's muscle, etc.
Another thing I always tell people is to allow yourself a weight RANGE and not one definitive number. For example, my range is from 124-128. I "allow" that range because that is where my body kinda settled in/balanced out at.
So, be a little more patient with your body and this whole process. I realize that no one who wants to lose weight would like to see the numbers creeping back up, but that one pound really shouldn't make you feel so frustrated. Keep hanging in there!

i weigh myself every morning, i always have, i see no problem with it. but i do understand that my body will not alway be consistent. if you eat lots of salt one day, or lots of heavy food that you haven't 'let go of" yet, it will change the scale a few lbs sometimes. I think you can still weigh yourself every day at the same time and get a pretty accurate reading if you chart it like the one posted earlier in this thread, just don't beat yourself up over the day to day change! honestly i do it daily and not weekly BECAUSE of the changes...because if that one day a week i look at the scale is the one day its 3lbs higher i'll be sad, so i make sure to do it every day to get a good average. its just a tool for me, i'm far from having an eating disorder, i just like to know where i am at!
also i would add some coconut oil to what you are eating, it will help you lose and help your skin stay healthy!

what and how do i make green smoothies??
karen
I am no expert on green smoothies, but I have learned a few things. I have a cheap blender so I blend a handful of greens with filtered water first, then I add 1/2 a grapefruit(any citrus or a apple works), and 1/2 a banana, blend some more, and finally add some ice to make it cold but not frozen. I always taste it before I pour it into a glass to make sure it taste good. When I started out I made it too thick and too green, Yuck! If this happens I just add more water and/or ice. I am drinking a smoothie right now that tastes like apple cider, but it doesn't look like apple cider. Its really GREEN!

Going from SAD/cooked with sodium and other toxins to RAW will make you lose weight quickly the first few days due to water weight, not fat. Your diet sounds good to me. It just takes time! It didn't take you a week to put the weight on did it? Focus on your body HEALING and how good you feel. Don't weigh yourself . Your body composition is changing. I would say don't weight or measure yourself for a month or so, then see what happens. Give your body a chance to adjust. If you can't help but weigh yourself daily....get rid of the scale! Have someone hide it or hold it for you if you must or...just don't worry about it! If you're feeling good, why "ruin" the day by seeing a silly number??

I had to put away the scale and start measuring. I am so glad I took my measurements months ago because when I hit a plateau and started to get discouraged, I measured myself again and had lost two inches everywhere. Now I only weigh myself when I start to feel like something I wore the week before has more room.

Wow, thank you for all of the great responses. I truly appreciate the support. I feel so good eating this way, and I know that I will stick with it. The weight will eventually come off.
You sure I need more fat??? I feel like that is all i eat.

If you think you eat enough fat already.....don't add any more. Do what feels right to your body. Trial and error for the most part. Take it week by week and figure out what works for you. If you gain weight easily by eating fat, trim it down a bit. If juice fasting takes the weight off, do that for a while. If green smoothies does it for you, great! You are going to have to try a few things before you settle in to a routine and then when you get nice and comfortable, your body may want a change, so be ready for it.

Hi Karene -
the numbers on the scale are not important. How you feel and look is important....
I feel so great and lean that I fell like I am melting away. Then I get on the scale and I am in total disbelief that the number does not change!!!!

As others have suggested, since we are cleansing and releasing toxins it might be a good time for you to start getting colonics. I've never had an issue with evacuating, but I was having gas issues and feeling sick from toxins being kicked into the blood. Had my first colonic and lost 1 1/2 lbs. will have up to about three this first month.
Measuring can also be really good. It's much more fun to see the inches come off. I weigh myself everyday too. Never have been one to do this, but it is more or less an experiment for me to see what is working and what is not.
