Last year after a partial hysterectomy to give birth to an alien tumor and after lots of blood tests I was also told I had anemia. Took a bunch of the suggested iron by the doc ie: ferrous sulfate. Finished it off. Never took anemia seriously and have always had symptoms of it, but the older I am getting (45) I am starting to feel it. I am not sure, but I think I am having anemia symptoms on raw and here they are: very tired, very irritable, low energy, a little depressed...does anyone have any advice? Maybe I am missing something in my diet? I have never eaten so many fruits, salad, avocados, or fats in my life...could it be a vitamin B12 thing that I am missing?

It's possible you still have an underlying medical condition that is causing the anemia. If I were you that's what I would be looking for. I've had anemia off and on. The cause? Dairy allergy. I gave up the dairy and the anemia went away. It was that simple.

But there can be other causes of anemia. One is internal bleeding.

not all anemia is caused by iron deficiency. It can be caused by a sluggish liver, lack of B vitamins, allergies etc. In these cases iron won't help. Best to find the underlying cause and treat it accordingly. :)

You need to know what type of anemia you have in order to treat it. Ask your doctor to do some blood work. I am a nurse and you can PM me with your results if you want.
