I have been trying to sprout hulled barley. I read somewhere it wont sprout? Is this true? Also I have soaked it for 6 hours and have been trying to sprout it for around 26 hours.... Is it fine to use in the chili recipe?

I bought the raw hulled barley and soaked and used in recipes. Mine never got a tail or any indication of sprouting. Whatever the suggested soak time was, I followed it (it was a Chili recipe that someone very highly recommended on this site). Not a real big fan of soaked barley, but the recipe did turn out pretty tasty.
Alissa I believe has the raw version for sale in her store. Awsome stuff. Am eyeballing the aprons big time!

If you want to sprout barley then must use the whole grain ... hulled barley has been processed to a point where it is no longer able to sprout.

Thanks for your responses. I used the barley anyway in my chili recipe and it was good!

Hey thanks for the info, I guess that's where I've been going wrong! My Barley has been murdered!!! :eek: Better order some from Alissa then!
