Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this: I had been drinking at least a qt. of gs's daily for nearly 2 months. The last few weeks I have not been able to tolerate gs's AT ALL no matter how I mix it up - different fruits, different greens, different nuts, no nuts.... My body just rejected it all if there were greens in with the fruit. I had one a few days ago & was fine but I haven't been able to drink another since. :( I'm at the point where I start getting the icky feelings when I even lay a hand on greens with the thought of adding them to a smoothie! It's a very strong feeling that can't be ignored; it's my body's typical "no go" signal. I ignore this feeling at my own risk....

I stopped drinking gs's & tried plain fruit smoothies - with & without nuts. No problems at all either way. I tried blended veggie soups with greens; again no problems. The only time I had "issues" was if there were greens in my smoothies. I still crave greens like their going out of fashion & eat them abundantly & with relish, but I just can't tolerate them in my smoothies no matter how tasty they are. Anyone else have problems tolerating gs's?

It would be interesting to replace your green smoothie with green juice and see how your body responds to that. If you do I would recommend straight celery juice, straight romaine juice or a combination of those two for an RAWlicious drink. Your body may jump for joy when you give it green juice. :)

Anastatia, it could be as simple as your body saying " We've got all we need from this food source for the time being." This could shift as your bodies PH shifts. I bet if you tested your ph, it would be highly akaline which is good. Also, I've read on the post that it's very good to switch up on the type of greens you use in your smoothies. Someone said that there is a slightly toxic chemical in greens and if you eat too much of one type, your system will build it up and you can grow intolerant. So perhaps, you need to switch the greens you use. If your using spinach, try something else.

Really good question to bring up. I adored white grapefruit a while back. Ate at least 3-4 a day. Absolutely could not get enough of them. This lasted for about two months. Then one day--could not even think of eating one. No way! My body obviously did not need or want it anymore. Naturally it had moved on to whatever it was that my body needed next (wish I had thougt to journal this). Sometimes it is greens, sometimes sweets, other times spicy--I am learning to follow and have really been feeling better doing so.

Hope some of this helps.

hmmmmm-I don't buy it. Her body isn't rejecting greens, she's still eating a ton....just not in smoothies. That is super weird. I'll have to think on it...

have you tried Alissa's super green powder? it's all i can use for green smoothies. I love it. I just can't do the 'fresh' leaves. The powder is just freeze dried, crushed greens, a perfect blend if you will.:o

This is very interesting. You know, I think I would listen to my body on this one. I did the same thing when I went raw a year ago and could not even think about green smoothies without getting nauseated. So I stopped drinking them for a while. Turned out that my bod really didn't want the kiwi that I was adding to the smoothies. Not sure why though.

Have you tried digestive enzymes?

I go through spurts of loving green smoothies for a while, and then practically gagging at even the thought of one. Salads still sound and taste completely delish during my "off" time, it's just the green smoothies that effect me. After a while (ranging from 2 days to a month) I start craving them again. I just go with it ;)

Sorry I dropped off the face of the earth there for a bit; life got REALLY hectic & I was barely able to keep up on my emails! :( I have been able to drink an occasional green smoothie since I originally posted, but still not quite a "go" on daily gs's like I used to. Oh, well! I have still been eating greens like they're going out of fashion & I've really been into banana-cacao milk shakes lately. :D

I think I'm just gonna go with my body on this one & not concern myself. As the weather has gotten cooler, I have been craving more sweet potatoes, winter squashes, soups & the like. I've been interested in somewhat heavier, starchier fare & can actually tolerate large quantities of nuts without a hitch. I digest them very quickly as compared to when I eat them in hot weather! So it seems that with the change in seasons has come a change in what my body asks for. No need for me to concern myself with "raw winter" after all; if gs's don't figure into my body's regular plan for the cooler seasons then so be it! :D

Thanks for all the responses everyone!
