Did you find yourself not wanting or requiring to wear makeup after being on RAW for a certain amount of time?
Right now it feels like my skin is changing..... Like it wants to reject wearing makeup. It's such a habitual thing to do. Put on makeup like putting on a pair of pants. I'm a natural red head with natural blonde highlights. strawberry blonde is what it's called. Now you might think I have really dark freckles on my face and all over. well that is the case every where on my face.
About 5 years ago I learned that it's not good for me to hang out in the sun so much so I pretty much stopped going outside in the sun for more than 20 min and I use sunscreen often. So the freckles on my face are very very light. To me they look like old pimple scars.......which is why I feel the need to wear makeup. That and my eyelashes are pure blonde. So without masacra I look eyelashless..
On some areas of my face my pores are dissapearing (sp?) I'm thinking I'm going to brave it and stop wearing as much as I do. :)
Let me hear from ya.
P.S. if this is the wrong thread PUHLEASE move where nessesary. I'd greatly appreciate it.

I have never been a make-up person. Your body may be rejecting what is IN the make-up. What brand(s) do you use? Have you tried vegan all natural, mineral based ones? I know that my skin is very sensitive. I didn't do make-up from the beginning of my raw journey (4 years ago) but wanted to try some to please my mom lol. I tried the Bare Minerals, but my face just got redder and reacted to that. Maybe it's because I"m raw and cleaner on the inside so my body knows what is wrong wto put on/in it. Just try other brands maybe first and see what happens? Who knows, maybe if you stop putting on sunscreen, make-up, and go in the sun for a bit your skin could heal some more?

I haven't worn much makeup since I escaped out of the corporate world!! But that doesn't mean I was happy with the way I looked! I just saw no need for slathering my face with a bunch of stuff!!
Now - since being raw for 6 months... what I see in the mirror is amazing. My dh used to tell me my skin looked like an orange peel.... (very large pores) and the fatter I got - the larger my pores stretched apparently! He also used to tell me my skin looked like an armadillo.... tuff and leathery, not smooth...
yea - not very complimentary -- dh is not one to sugar coat things! lol!!
but now - my skin is smooth and sooo soft! my pores have shrunk and I have a soft glow about my face. Now I go without makeup and I feel confident that I don't need it.
I still wear mascara on occassion and a little bronzer / blush to give me a sun kissed look!

I use clinique now. which is actually the best makeup I've ever used. it's rejecting in the sense that it feels like its sliding off. I've noticed this in the past 2 days. Bare minerals messed my skin up. I go outside but only for short periods of time. I'm very very very very very fair and very very very lobster skin prone. Sun is not my best friend most of the time. Plus, I refuse to go swimming sooooooo no sun for me. :)

eh, the only makeup i've ever reallly worn is eyeliner & mascara occasionally. i have stopped wearing it as much in the past 2 years. raw could have something to do with it, but i think it was because i changed schools (from a public school, to a private democratic school) :) i use burts bees eyeliner
Starfire - your dh sounds hilarious.. armadillo...ahaha :)

Everything I put on my body at this point is 100% natural. Most commercial makeup are full of toxic junk. I don't want that absorbed into my skin. I use Bare Minerals and I love it. 100% minerals - no additives.
It's a lot of fun to play with too!
Love,

I've never been much for makeup...mostly a little powder and lip gloss. I use Bare Minerals too when I go out, dress up...I ahve slight rosacea and that even out very nicely but doesn't look like makeup is there. My skin is looking good even after not quite a month.....

I don't wear make-up. Nature didn't make a mistake when she created me. :)

I've always felt like sort of a troll without makeup. I still wear it, but not as much. And foundation is a thing of the past as my face texture, color and pores are looking much better.
I too have been tossing the drugstore brands in favor of organic products. Not quite finished with that project yet.
You sound like a natural beauty. Maybe let it go for a week and see how you feel?

I quit wearing a lot of makeup years ago when I realized there was a link to it and chronic eye infections. Actually my skin is usually pretty good and I think it looks better without most foundations on it. Too masklike.
Now all I wear is a bit of concealer under the eyes, (still have dark circles) and some mineral makeup as foundation and blush. Sometimes wear lipstick and wear liner and eyeshadow only on rare occasions. Ususally special occasions. I do wear nail polish always. I just like the way my nails feel with it's on and I like the look of it.

Just keep your skin hydrated. No one "needs" make up. ;)

I used to wear makeup all the time in HS, but I became very allergic to the stuff (no matter WHO makes it) & haven't worn it since; even then it was only lipstick & eye makeup - no foundation, blah, blah, blah.
I've been on the fence about the nail polish, though. I used to wear it all the time, but I haven't been able to bring myself to actually put any on since I've been raw. I can't stand the smell!!! Most fakey chem. smells bug me now, even the ones that are supposed to smell good - like air "fresheners". I haven't tried any makeup since though.
My skin has definitely improved on raw! :D I have a glow all over, my pores are smaller, the under-eye circles are gone & my acne has gotten better even though it isn't entirely gone yet. I don't even use moisturizer most of the time & I live in the high desert country of New Mexico. If I do feel the need for something extra on my face, a tiny bit of coconut oil rubbed in does the trick.

I don't wear make up most of the time because I work from home. The walls and dog don't need to see me gussied up. My skin does look a lot better; it looks more healthy and I'm a little lighter as well which is more natural for me. The fact of the matter is I'm 38 years old and dammit my days of throwing on a little mascara and lip gloss and looking fabulous are over. I like how I look with some make up!

Even though my skin is getting better, I still feel the need to wear foundation, etc. That's the only thing I'm looking forward to needing less of in the future....I admit, I'm a bit of a make-up junkie, and I looooove different eyeshadows, etc. Even if I don't "need" to wear it, I WANT to wear it!! It's all a matter of preference, in my book.

I still use mineral powder, mascara, some eyeliner, lip balm. I make a point to use more natural brands and I haven't really had any problems with it.
I still wear make up. Funny how I used to have to wear powder and foundation to cover up my acne. Well now all my acne has all disappeared now that I am raw, however I still have acne scars from before I was raw that I don't like to see so I still wear foundation. I also like wearing blush, lipstick and mascara. I too have light eyelashes so I like mascara. I think it is a preference thing for me. I probably could get away without wearing stuff but I like how makeup enhances my features. Don't generally wear eye shawdow though - only for special occasions.

I love the artistic side of make up. I have switched to the most natural ones, Lavera, Dr Haruska and Mineral Makeups.

yeah i like to enhance too. its not so much about putting a mask on but enhancing/being creative and having some fun with it. :)
