Sorry about the mis-spelling - I can't correct it now, LOL I want to get a dehyrdator, but am confused about where to put it. A raw food speaker that I watched suggested putting it in the garage since I live in the hot humid south. My problem with this is that the dehydrator looks like it really doesn't close. Will I have to worry about "critters" getting into the dehydrator if I put it out in the garage? Will it really heat up my house if I keep it inside? Thanks so much for your help!

confused about where to put it.I think most people put their dehydrator in the kitchen.

Put it in the garage and you'll forget about it. Keep it in the kitchen and you'll probably use it.

The little critters won't forget about it though. :)

LemonFlower,

If your saying the dehydrator doesn't really close then I'd keep it inside. The one I have is a bit noisy so I keep mine downstairs so I don't hear it all the time. Mine does close though.

What kind of dehydrator do you have? Are you talking about the excalibur hanging door? If so, critters will definitely get in there.

Aloha!! I got my excalibur from Alissas store - and it has the hanging door not closing thing... Here in Hawaii we do have critters... but when the dehydrator is running - the critters, including flys do NOT go near it. When it's not running - I make sure it's clean and I've never had any problems with critters.... nor does it heat up the house.

I even have a resident mouse that I've been having conversations with for a while now... telling her she must leave... she's gotten into dh's cookies (sad) and his cereal (sad again)... but never touches the dehydrator!
(but she still must leave...) grrrr....

I ended up getting a 9 tray Excalibur and I made a place in the kitchen for it. I should get it today! Thanks for the suggestions. I really appreciate you all!
