...he told me to not say stuff like that and to 'knock on wood'...which i did...but it didn't help...i've been sick ever since...

his sister-in-law came over. she was sick, as was her husband and two year-old child. her husband had recently picked up a flu-type illness when he went to china... anyway, i minded the child for around an hour.

a couple of days later at work i felt very shakey and dizzy. then i threw up (luckily i made it to the bathroom)...something i haven't experienced in years... the nausea persisted for a few days, then it morphed into a kind of flu-ish thing, with fever, cough, sneezing, runny nose, lethargy etc etc... today i woke up with one eye smaller than the other. after checking on the internet, it looks like i have conjunctivitis. i haven't gone to a doctor, as i'm not going to take the medicine they prescribe. i will go if it gets really bad i suppose.

this is a very perculiar illness. i can ride it out and just let my body fight it naturally. (hopefully it's not bird flu!!) does anybody have any ideas on something i can rinse my eye with?

thank you...

This isn't a bad thing to get sick. Because of our body is doing everthing to get ride of invador, it flush out everything else toxic too in the same time.

Take raw garlic (shopped finely and you swallow it without chewing with water). I had pneumonia in the past and never need anti-biotic. So this is powerful. Follow your body and drink a lot of liquid. I usually would drink fresh orange press juice when i start to ge a little better.

The stress also, will bring your body acid which mean more subject to get sick. Next time, make sure to take the time to take green smoothies or green juice.

Sending you a lot of hugs to help you to feel better.

So I'm really new to raw so I have no advise as far as that is concerned. I was thinking, however, when I read your email that it does sound a lot like the bird flu... I checked out a site and the symptoms are:

Symptoms of bird flu

Fever
Sore throat
Muscle aches
Headache
Lethargy
Conjunctivitis (eye infections)
Breathing problems
Chest pains

It looks like you would treat it like any flu and just take care of yourself. I'm sure you will get over it much easier being a raw foodie and all :)

If you have strong doubt of your ailment--best to follow that and get it checked out (my opinion and what I would do). As to your question on what to rinse the eye with--have heard much success with wheatgrass juice flushes using a eye wash cup. Can be found at health food stores.

Best of luck. Please update us on your healing.

Thank you for your advice guys. I am actually beginning to feel a little better. The illness has peaked, and I am improving a bit. I woke up this morning with one eye still smaller than the other, but I don't have that uncomfortable feeling of there being a layer of glass inside. I can see that the lining of the cornea is red and swollen on one side.

I have had a revelation about my diet today. I won't bore you too much with it, but I've decided to have fruit salad for breakfast and a vegetable salad for lunch. I wasn't eating enough in the mornings - usually just one piece of fruit and then I wouldn't eat again until 1pm. I want to rediscover the knife. There is a lot you can do with it. I worry because I don't have a dehydrator, food processor or other equipment besides a blender and juicer. I will also incorporate green smoothies. When I'm travelling I can still eat well with just a knife, a plate and some fruit, vegetables, greens and sprouts.

This is what I've used for conjunctivitis-it cleared it up in one day.

Hey Queen Bean,

I am so glad to hear you are feeling better. I went through something similiar a few weeks ago and it was NOT fun!

As far as the conjunctivitis goes....and this may sound a bit weird.... but it is amazingly effective!!!! Do you know of anyone in your life who is breastfeeding? If so, have her give you a little breastmilk and use a dropper to put some in your eye. It will clear it up almost immediately. I did that last time I had conjunctivitis and it was totally gone the next day! Luckily, a good (and understanding) friend was breastfeeding!

An au natural friend of mine told me about it YEARS ago and I thought she was wacked at the time, but since I have become Ms. Au Natural myself, now I am all for that stuff! Especially since it works!

Feel better! Sending well-wishes your way!

I am nearly back to normal. That is great, as I'm flying interstate on a mini-holiday in a couple of days, and don't really want to be sick. Thank you for your advice and concern. I had a delightful strawberry, banana, orange fruit salad for breakfast and will have a romaine lettuce, tomato, cucumber, avocado, sprout salad for lunch. My eye is mostly healed. I do have a couple of friends who are breast feeding. I will mention the remedy to them...quite amusing...

Food processor can be very economical. My first one i paid $30 and it lasted more then two years.

Glad to see that you are doing better

My mother is buying me one for my birthday with a blender built into it as well.

I am much better thankfully...

Raw Angel Mom, what do you make with your blender?
