Hi again, still new to raw food. With that being said....is Agave, carob powder, almond milk, and ezekial bread considered raw food?
Oh and an occasional cup of coffee? Is that bad?
If these items are not raw, will eating a little bit of them every day derail the benefit of weight loss?
Also, if I am not 100%, but more like 90% will I not even experience the weight loss benefit?
Sorry for the questions, I have scanned posts and just did not find the answers.
I have also posted before about large consumptions of the raw nuts...oh are cashews bad ? ....I am so engrained with 'dieting' knowledge that I keep second guessing the calorie/fat content with nuts and weight gain. If I am only 90% should I not eat very many nuts. I also take probiotics and 1/2 Tablespoon of flax oil daily, in addition to eating almond butter (organic, raw, expensive! hahaha)
Thank you once again.

one more thing....
does anyone have or had those protein deposits in your eye, kinda like a black speckled spot in your vision, worse on light surfaces (at least for me)...and if you had/have them did they go away with raw. my eye dr. says they will go away but it will take time, well I have had this spot for 4 years now. I freaked out during a CT scan (panic attack) and then this thing appeared.
thanks again.
I have seen a huge difference in my level of peace by not having coffee, but I've had a couple teas with caffeine and cacao which has been okay.
I find that there is a huge difference between being mostly and completely raw in terms of the cravings (although I can't quite seem to manage it consistently these days...), but if it works for you, then great! Have as much raw as you can, embrace it, but realize that you will get the most benefits from being completely raw...
That said, most people (myself included) see lots of improvement just by being high raw, which is way better than the alternative.
I think it's great you're asking the questions and making the effort for yourself. :)

Agave is raw only when it says it is RAW on the label.
Carob...ditto.
Almond milk - if you make it yourself with raw almonds yes, if out of a carton no.
Ezekiel bread - sorry no. (but there are many good bread recipes in Alissa's book)
Sorry, no info on the eye thingy, but there are many ailment healed with RAW! PS. WELCOME!!!!
PS concerning carob... I got mind from Alissa's Store (definitely raw and a pretty good price), and I've been pleased with it. I use it in an amazing coconut fudge recipe I got from goneraw.com. My kids go crazy over it.

Yes, Alissa's products are the highest quality. If you want to be sure...order from her. PS I tried the agave on Alissa's site and it totally blew away the kind I have been buying at Whole Foods! PS. Have you tried cacao? (raw chocolate) It's so good!

Hi,the black spots are called floaters. You may sometimes see small specks or clouds moving in your field of vision. You can often see them when looking at a plain background, like a blank wall or blue sky. Floaters are actually tiny clumps of gel or cells inside the vitreous, the clear jelly-like fluid that fills the inside of your eye.
Floaters may look like specks, strands, webs or other shapes. Actually, what you are seeing are the shadows of floaters cast on the retina, the light-sensitive part of the eye.
Eye Floaters and Spots: Symptoms and Signs
If a spot or shadowy shape passes in front of your field of vision or to the side, you are seeing a floater. Because they are inside your eye, they move with your eyes when you try to see them. You may also see flashes of light.
Most spots and floaters in the eye are harmless and merely annoying.
They are very normal and nothing to worry about. You should get an eye exam a minium of ever 2 years. Discuss the floaters with your doctor and he/she can monitor them for changes. I have some that I have had since I was a teenager and they have not changed.:o

with all things I think moderation is key. If you are mostly RAW and making good choices I think you will loose weight and see differences in your body and how you feel.
Honestly I've been concerned with some things I've read that have been posted on this board. Someone posted that she was going to discontinue her medication because it was in a capsule that wasn't Raw, that is crazy!

I have read that raw carob is toxic. So, just in case, I am now using the roasted and it tasted better, too. After using raw carob, I never felt right, sorta sick to my stomach. So roasted is the choice for me,anyway.
Agave is somettimes even heated (not raw) even if it says it's raw.

Coffee is bad.
It is not good.
From what I have read is that it is a dierutic drink. Meaning that it steals nutrients from your body. One example is that it drys you out. The reason you get such energy is not because the caffeiene is an energy giving drug. It is because caffiene steal from your adrenal glands. That is where the energy is coming from. It is sucking it out of you.
There is an experiment that can prove this. Get off coffee for a week and observe the withdrawal symptoms (cravings, and especially the most noticeable are headaches)

I've been off coffee for a little over 2 weeks. My withdrawal symptoms were INTENSE: headaches 24/7, craving caffeinated sodas...and anything with caffeine in it. I find that coffee dries my mouth out. Made my gum problems worse:eek::eek:.
You can definitely live without caffeine. I put it in the same category as Canola and Corn oils: none are good for you.
