Hi Everyone,
I posted a while back about the Fettucini in Alissa's book. I loved it so much...and I ate probably half the recipe.THen I went to bed with a sick stomach half an hour later. So last night I made a Pad Thai recipe from Ani Phylo's book, and I LOVED it..the sauce was IDENTICAL to that peanut sauce in Thai food that is so amazing. Starting at 11pm and straight through until this morning, I have had the worst stomach cramps...diahhreah....sick to my stomach, sharp knife-like stabbing pains in my belly.
The thought of another almond or cashew is making me gag. Any suggestions what I should eat to calm my system and my poor belly for the rest of the day?? I have to go and teach in an hour and feel like a tight knot of .... ugh, something awful anyway.
I'm scared of any pasta dishes now.

I so sorry to hear that your not feeling well, especially if you loved the Pad Thai.
For your tummy you could try something minty, like maybe a mint smoothie with some banana and either mint leaves or pepperimint oil/extract. Or if you don't want a smoothie just some mint tea might help....mint always calms down my stomach.

Hope you feel better soon

Do you have a juicer? make apple and ginger juice if that's possible. Or even applesauce with some ginger blended in may help.

Oh dear I hope you feel better! You could also try pineapple or papaya the enzymes should help your tummy too!

Great...thank you....It hink for me those sauces that are so rich with nuts just do not sit well in my stomach. I love the taste....but the consequences are not worth it....so this is an example of how each body really does react differently to all types of foods, and the point is to find what works for you. Maybe the tomato marinara next time.....

thanks ladies.

How soon after eating these things did you go to bed? I know sometimes if I eat something heavy and then lie down soon after, it will make my stomach upset and/or give me heartburn. Just a thought. ;)

Cut down on the nuts. If the stabbing pain is on your right side, too many nuts are difficult for your liver. Takes one to know one.

Two ideas:

Take a nice walk after a heavy meal, helps digestion. If you lay down, you're almost asking for a belly ache when you have a lot to digest.

Peppermint tea.

Hope you feel better soon. :)
