I guess you could say deep down, I've always known that raw food is the way to go. Not only would it change my health and lifestyle completely, losing weight would be a tremendous highlight of the whole program.
I've been watching various raw food sites and have subscribed to several things online to keep in the know as far as raw food goes, but I've never been able to get past a few days on raw food. I plan to start on September 17 (my 33rd birthday) and end on December 15. What a wonderful way to begin my 33rd year of life.
For these 90 days, Although I am not part of the raw food boot camp, I plan to stick to the same rules as the participants to begin with. I am limited to 1 banana a day, no avocados, no nuts or seeds, no sprouted seeds... and can have hot tea if whether is cold. I think this is good, otherwise I would spend the 90 days on bananas and avocados, and I really need to train my body not to depend on these items, although I fully plan to use them later on. The program also requires you to walk at least one hour a day, rain or shine, no exceptions. I know this will prove difficult because I work such long hours, but I am determine to make this work.
Just some background information on me: I am currently 32 years old. I will be 33 on September 17, the first day of my raw food diet. I am 5'6" and weigh approximately 210 pounds (it goes down to 203 and up to 212). I have water retention problems, high cholesterol and horrible allergies. I can hardly sleep at night because my sides ache very badly. I think it is because the inflexibility in my back is forcing me to flex in other places. I have been a lacto-ovo vegetarian since I was 14 years old (never could stand meat). I used to run 5 to 6 miles a day and was around 150 pounds, but then a bad back and a broken foot made me give up the running.... and then, 4 years ago, I had a major back surgery. I now have rods, screws, and a metal plate in my back. I am limited in flexibility, and the fact that I have high arches in my feet add more to the discouragement that running may never be possible again. I love hiking when time allows, and when my husband will go (no easy feat!).
With this program, my dream is to be able to really "dream" again. To lose weight and be able to tackle some of the physical things I would like to, and to get rid of the pain and the allergies, lower my cholesterol, and just be.... healthy.
I appreciate any support and encouragement in my endeavor, and would love to have a buddy close by who I could share with.
Thanks!
