fROM 2000 UNTIL LATE 2003, i WOULD ALWAYS END UP IN THE ER. It's the worst feeling in the entire world. Anyway, yes the raw helps but I know that when You are having panic attacks, you want something right now--personally, I even develped a fear of fearing about it.
Magnesium is one of the first nutrients that depletes under "state of emergency" myself and others I have met that use it for the sake of PA, it worked great wonders.
At the same time, RAW is going to help you assist the body in indentifying the source of the problem--I knowfor me, my thyroid, kidneys and gallbladder were needing detox.
So what has you diet been like??? any other health problems???
www.vitex.com has the powder form of magnesium called CALM--the raspberry lemon is awesome! :) :)

Here's a suggestion about the smoking. Don't concern yourself with it. Get Alissa's book and vids. She is in top shape. Check out her pics. Then, get yourself on a 100% raw food program. I would also suggest you take a yoga or qigong class. In my experience, between the two ~ consious movement and a good food program, the smoking will just drop away.

i figure whats the point of eating raw if I smoke ....terrible....but I will make the adjustment I need to find a book of some sorts thats goes into eating raw and fitness.....

Viaxana! OOPS  :D I was just ranting about smokers yesterday ! :o ;)
What do you mean about gaining weight on raw????
I forgot to mention adrenal glands--those were big issue with me and my panic attacks--none of th ER doctors mentioned it but my on eof my healing practionersn did---I was at the point, I could not even be aroud the smell of coffee, eat gier, eat chocolate, teas or anythig that would stimulate me--other wise my shakig ad PA would set in---do you also have probems with stimulants??
Alrighty,. I think our lives are parallel, I too have history with ED's so yes, the RAW food lifetstyle will help you in so many ways. :)
I know that early on, if my sugar levels get low, my body starts that "feeling" of PA. I've met oe other PA sufferer who says the same thing. Keep in mind, I no longer have PA! :)
YOu will be amazed at all this RAW thing---just keep in mind that part of RAW eating is also embracing the healing and detox process.

I'm a smoker... soon to be ex-smoker. I've been 99% raw for 32 days (100% for 12 days) and I've been doing Yoga as regularly as I can at home w/a beginner's dvd. My original intent was to quit smoking prior to raw to help my lungs with the detox. But my stomach forced me to go raw after one weekend of fruit binging so, here I am, still smoking.
After a week, it started tasting not so good and feeling funny. It continues to feel weird and is tasting worse and worse every day. I mostly can't get through a whole cigarette. I'm not putting too much pressure on myself to quit this instant because I know I will soon. I'm just smoking less naturally and that's a beautiful thing. I've tried a number of methods over the last year but raw, I think, is going to be the winner! :D :D

hey all... thanks for the responses ..you are all soo wonderful...
Miss Linda I meant by gaining weight by eating raw ...was that my body tends to hold on to weight if i dont eat enough calories ...but also i want good definition for my body and when i went raw for a week i felt really puffy and bloated.....On another note i havent had a smoke all day :D
i have yet to commit to eating raw for 30 days straight ...i'm afraid of how my body will look after ...i live by the normal fitness mentality (protein protein protein) but I also worry about my strength in the gym ....being able to lift weights makes me feel great :p--- about the stimulants ...well I drink coffee everday and if i drink more than one cup they seem to be worse.....if i smoke during an attack ....oh my gosh its ten times worse....but the other day i too zantrex 3 (a diet pill) no ephedra but A lot of caffeine....on my way to the gym after i took that i thought i was going to die.....so yes i think they do trigger them

I too was a soy/whey (protein) junkie. I was the type of person who worked out until I felt pain otherwise I felt I didn't workout hard enough. I use to have a obsessive coffee habit and would at times make my coffee so strong that it was muddy! That deadly potion plus strugglig with anorexia and downing capsules of Hydroxycut (had ephedra), ended me in the ER.
I really belive our liver/kidneys suffer from these habits--those organs are trying so hard to remove "toxic" matter and foreign substances that when slowed or damaged by poor diets and high protein in higher percentages than what is really needed, the function is not there at healthy levels. Then it affects other organs, ourpoor adrenals and a whole list of "issues."
I know waht you mean by feeling bloated on raw etc. The whole purpose for the raw food diet [lifestyle], is to enhance and assist the body in what it 'naturally' needs to cleanse, detox, purify, metabolize and function at HIGH EFFICIENT LEVELS. Imagie healing this nightmare of PANIC ATTACKS--ya know? I was so tired of meds and sleepig pills.
Imagine how much TOXICITY is in you and around you. Cosmetics, water, air, food, plastic, clothes, detergent, most foods are boxed in plastic !!!! UGHHGHGHHG  A poor environment + poor diet= malfunction :D Anyway, while you are on raw, bloating is one fo the common effects--not permanent at all. Your body system is makig all sorts of adjustment and beginning the healig ad cleansing process.
I know alot of folks are drawn to the weightloss aspect of raw (which I was guilty of too at one time) but there are so many intricate details: bowel movement, breathing quality, moving better, just plainly feelig great, eedig less sleep --OH MY GOODESS the list goes on ad on my good friend!
You really can be fit adn toned with raw--I've seen photos as Todd is one of them........Have you visited Alissa's direct site with her photos ad other transformation photos? :)
Sorry I gibber jabbered :p

Vixana -- I so totally agree with Revvell's advice to you!! Let go of the worry about these things. Get Alissa's book and DVDs, read and watch, and it will happen for you. Let go of your fear -- after all, how can eating raw be worse for you than the things you're doing to your body now??!! Alissa has been a weight lifter since she was a teenager. Believe me, she answers ALL your concerns in her book. You need more than some posts in this forum in order to get started -- but how great for you that you've arrived here!
Warm wishes to you as you start this journey.

I have only had 2 panic attacks . . . at work. I didn't know what was happening. I became very ill shortly after that and had to quit work. I started eating high raw and I've never had anything like those attacks, ever again.
But like someone else mentioned above . . . adrenals. I had my adrenals treated, so that may have helped, but I'm no longer on cortisol (1 year on it, off 2 or 3 years now) and I still don't have any attacks, so I know the high raw food is helping in this area.

I also had panic attacks while driving (only on the freeway though, i was fine on the street), it was horrible. I haven't had any since going raw. I think greens are important for the nervous system. Also, I know quitting smoking and caffeine is soooo hard, but think about it, they are both stimulants, the VERY last thing that someone with stressed adrenals and an out of whack nervous system needs is more stimulation. Best of luck to you!!!

Hi!
Yes I had them a while back, mild panic attacks. I find that excercising and eating well helps. No coffee or alchool also. Anyhow for myself I think the panic attacks came from the fear at losing control or going crazy. Last time I had one, a few years back, I was lying in bed and I said to myself, instead of trying to make it stop (which creates more anxiety and makes it worse) I decide to let go and let myself be submerge by the anxiety, telling myself that if I'd loose control or went crazy I'd deal with it after, well guess what it stopped completely and I haven't had one since then. I think for myself it was the fear of not being in control and accepting this that released me of it. Seing that even if I didn't do anything about it nothing would happen. Does it make sense? Hope this helps!!

About being bloated: I was like that in the beginning too, but after about a month or so my body got used to all the roughage and I had no problem after that with my digestion.
