Hi all,

I posted this in the Oil-pulling thread, but I'm anxious for an asnwer so here goes...

I've been oil pulling with sesame oil for almost 2 full months now. 1-2 times a day. For the past two weeks, my gums have been bleeding like crazy whenever I brush or floss. And random sore spots keep popping up throughout. I think it's supposed to get worse before it gets better. And I'm a little excited to see the positive results. But how long should I expect these negative results? I'm not sure if I can go through 2 months of this stuff. People are discouraging me from continuing pulling, stating that it's obviously not helping. I'm supposed to go to the dentist for a cleaning but, I don't want to go in this worsened state and make it seem like I'm not taking care of my teeth. Should I go the dentist anyway? Has anyone experienced something similar?

How were your gums prior to oil pulling? You might take a break from it and see what happens.

I was having some problems with my gums until I started using an electric toothbrush. For some reason the brush doesn't hurt my gums like the other one I had. I don't use a glycerin toothpaste anymore either because I felt it was making it worse.

My gums weren't fabulous. But they didn't bleed this much. I have early stage periodontal disease. I thought oil pulling would help this.

I would start swishing with some sort of green juice like wheatgrass or any greens.

Thanks! What do you think that would do? Do you think I should stop oil pulling?

Greens have Chlorophyll. That is why I recommend them. I'm also thinking maybe chewing on some parsley would be good.

I can't tell you to stop the oil pulling because I don't have any experience with it. It sounds like you have been doing it religiously. If you're noticing other benefits from it, then maybe you should continue. You can cut back for a couple of days and try the greens, then start oil pulling again while also doing greens and see if you notice any difference.

I found this:

Chlorophyll has also long been famous for its ability to heal infected and ulcerated wounds. Indeed, as Steve Meyerowitz says, ‘studies prove that tissue cell activity and its normal regrowth are definitely increased by using chlorophyll’. It comes as no surprise therefore that wheatgrass is effective at healing bleeding gums, ulcers, gingivitis and sore throats and makes a great mouth wash. It's also a good eliminator of body odours. Taken regularly it will eliminate bad breath, smelly feet and perspiration odours.

personally -- I would continue. Only b/c I think it's pulling poisons and toxins out of your system. I would also switch to coconut oil - I think its a bit more gentle. And I would only use about 1 teaspoon in the morning and at night b4 you go to bed. also -- make sure you are brushing at least twice a day and continue to floss!

but -- also ... go with your gut feeling... what does your intuition tell you?
keep us posted okay? :D hope you are feeling better soon!!

Hmmm...thanks for the advice StarFire! I think I'll continue. My intuition is telling me to continue. I think I will. Hopefully there'll be an amazing testimony to come of it!!!

I agree with StarFire,

Having had periodontal surgery many years ago (thanks to penny candy and bad 'not flossing right' habits), best to try to do anything to help. Oral surgery is no picnic. Keep up with the flossing is most important. I do tongue scraper gently morning and night and use an electric toothbrush and natural toothpaste with COQ10. Doing the oil pulling about every morning using the sunflower oil. Seeing some difference, but overall my mouth just feels better. Best of luck to you.

Sorry to tack this on at the end, but wheatgrass is awsome. Would definately try if you feel it would help. I is an awsome liquid energizing force that can do wonders.

Hi Quajo,

so I have been oil-pulling consistently for about 1 month with sesame oil. When I started 4 of my front bottom teeth had gums detatching/receeding? and they are almost totally healed but I am having the same bleeding that you describe.

not every time I brush but at least 3 times right after pulling, when brushing, I would bleed A LOT ....it happenned again last night, I did 2 15 minute sessions in a row while watching a movie....it seems to come from those same front teeth

I am going to keep going.

in chinese medicine, bleeding gums are attributed to heat in the stomach, in western medicine that would be bacteria or ph imbalance
to help with infection, I would suggest swishing with warm sea salt water after you pull and I think the liquid chlorophyll idea is an also excellent suggestion:D

I'm having the same problem -- I have an empty space where I had a molar pulled a few years ago and man-oh-man is that thing sore!

I had to buy a softer soft soft toothbrush and I still squeal when I brush there.

I hope this gets better.

By the way, I think the saltwater solution is a good idea.
Salt will toughen the gums.
Thanks for the reminder.

do you think you could be allergic to the sesame oil? check the oil pulling websites, there are other oils you can use; i think sesame and sunflower (cold pressed) are the most recommended

Thanks for the info guys! It's really nice to know that I'm not alone in this. I haven't gotten around to buying the chlorophyll and wheatgrass yet. But I was looking at a website about oil pulling and people said adding a few drops of oil of oregano to the oil helped their pockets close up and their gums stop bleeding. I'll keep you posted.

I have been putting oregno in my oil for the last month. It does help. Seems to help sinus to.

I had the same problem not long ago, and I treated it without going to the dentist.

I used Lugol's Iodine combined with ozonated sesame oil, and my gums stopped bleeding in a couple of days. But I also used Oil of Oregano and

Sesame Oil has bacteria in it that may be giving you problems. Try sunflower oil or safflower. or ozonating it.

Unless the situation is dire, I will never go to a dentist, not even for a cleaning. After what happened to this person (http://curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=914659#i) , I stopped going.

No dentist is going near me:eek:.

Thanks Rhazula! I didn't know sesame oil had bacteria in it! How do you ozonate the oil?
