I am a newbe and sometimes things go not as smoothly as I wish.
I've been sprouting wild rice in a sprouting jar for three days. Now according to Alissa 's book it should be ready, however, it seems rotten to me. It looks like a bunch..of worms (I am sorry ladies:eek: ) and it smells funny, like yeast. Is it suppose to be like this?

And, could someone PLEASE guide me step by step how to sprout wild rice?

If the rice is chipped in any way, it won't sprout. So it sounds to me like you just had some bad luck. You are right - if it smells weird, it's not successful. The easiest things for me to sprout are mung beans or lentils - they have a hard outer shell so they don't chip.

Wild rice will not sprout, as it is not truly raw. If that doesn't bother you, you need to change the water at least twice a day while soaking the wild rice. It will get soft and a little chewy after 2 or 3 days. If it smells bad, I wouldn't use it.

Good luck.
