hi all:o
I was reading on another RAW site and people kept saying that their bodies were so different because of the RAW muscle vs. the SAD muscles. Does anyone know anything about this? I'm assuming they are talking about the muscle density?

I could never figure this out becuz I am an ex- Competitive (albeit Figure Division). From all the research I could find..Muscle is Muscle...it is built from working/stressing them with weight and has nothing to do with Raw vs SAD.

I think they are looking at the big competitors (who generally use steriods to get bigger) but still muscle is muscle, fast twitch and slow twitch. You either build them or you don't. You can acheive a certain desired look by training heavy and low rep. work, or light and high rep work. Muscle responds to this differently, generally that is why a Power Lifter is Big and a Dancer is lean and long. It has nothing to do with Sad vs Raw. In fact a muscle does not distiquish between meat or plant protein. By time it hits them it has been turned to Amino Acids.

You cannot "tone" a muscle either. Generally what they mean is lose fat so the muscle shows. You can short term (while on stage for example) make a muscle appear harder by increase inter muscualr water and stripping water from under the skin. That is a tough thing to master and it is short lived !

hope this helps.:D

I recall that a few years ago when I went for a massage as soon as she put her hands on me she said "you are a vegetarian".
She says that there is a big differance between the feel of the muscles of long term vegetarians and meat eaters. We are more pliable.
It is possible that the change they are talking about is from going veg and not from going raw.

I am sorry. I do not know what you mean.
I know that looking at my name you may think that I am athletic but nothing could be further from the truth.

I thought you mentioned in previous posts that you are active or were in the past. Not nessecarily a competive athlete but I consider anyone who dances, does yoga stretches to be in that category. Active people generally have more muscle ...

Sport- That is interesting what your massage therapist said. I too am a therapist and have been able to tell if someone is vegetarian. They're muscles do seem more pliable. I can even tell just my massaging my legs. The tissue feels different, more fluidity and less tender spots.

i noticed the difference on myself- i exercised a lot this summer and had some good muscles on my hands, back,legs..... i'm still trying to keep it up (though a bit more busy) and i notice that my muscles are.... smaller? they're still there, but they're more... i have no idea, i just look SLIMMER but not dry skinny;)

in a way it makes me think that maybe humans are naturally slim-looking, even with plenty of muscles

the post i read talked about less bloating (from dairy??) so there was a clearer view of muscle.............I've been RAW for 10 weeks (with a couple of falls off the wagon) and i'm still bloated or is that fat???
anyway it's funny that when you are eating SAD and gaining weight you don't look in the mirror each dayand say, yep there's another pound! wohooo!! but when you are working so hard to get in shape each day you look for differences and when you feel like you don't see them, UGH!!!
WHERE ARE THE CHANGES I WISH TO SEE?:o

No. Not me.
When I was in my forties I promised myself that I would start to exercise when I turned fifty
Then when I turned fifty I pretended to myself that it was bad for me.
Now I am fifty five and have made a start.
I guess that I now have at least 60 years of exercising in front of me so I am going to pace myself and not overdo it.
