We do because my husband is paranoid about injuries. Has anyone seen the movie DANIKA? It's kind of like that.. lol
I'd rather not have it seeing as they always refuse to pay anyway.. so what's the point?

I found that the High Deductable Insurance combined with a Medical Savings account is a great way to control costs and save some taxes too. It covers you in a Major Medical Need (usually over 5000.00) and I pay for the small stuff out of my Savings.
Yes, I do have health insurance. However, I live in The Netherlands, and things are a little different here. For one thing, it's an obligation to have one, so everyone has one. Furthermore, we have an extensive social security system here, that's what we pay tax for, so health insurance is payable for everyone, whatever his financial status. It's unthinkable that someone here wouldn't be able to pay hospital or dental bills for example, because he can't afford health insurance. The extremities between poor and rich aren't as big as in the US either. If you're sick and can't work for example, social security will take care of you.

As a Canadian we are covered under OHIP, however anything OHIP won't cover is out of pocket, I personally don't have any other benefits.

Make sure that they are accurately denying your claims due to the plan guidelines. I say this because I worked for a major health insurance carrier for many years and some of my co-workers would deny everything and anything, regardless of whether it was an actual denial per plan guidelines. Insurance carriers have incentive plans for employees. If a certain number of claims are processed, employees are rewarded. They don't care if the claims are accurately processed or not. As long as the claim is 'gone', that's all they cared about. So, please make sure that you know your plan guidelines and they are denying accurately. I did not see the movie 'Sicko', but have seen some interviews about it and they talk about that. They speak the truth. That IS what happens. I've seen it.

My thinking is, if you can get or afford it - Better to be safe than sorry
Raw foods can help, but I'd prefer a doctor on a broken leg for example ;)
I am totally against doctors thought processes by the way and do everything in my power to avoid them at all costs if I can

We have insurance thru my husband's employer...I am against going to a Dr. to treat most disease because of their reliance on pharmaceuticals but there are times when medical treatment is critical and without insurance you wouldn't stand a chance of recovery. My stepson was in a horrible car acident......awful injuries when he was hit coming home from a gig by a drunk driver. He coded repeatedly in the ER..without the heroic medical intervention he had he would have died...without insurance he would have been destitute for the rest of his life trying to pay off medical bills he never would be able to. My husband has his appendic rupture out of the blue...he was hospitalized for twentyeight days and had every complication you can imagine. Right or wrong hospital costs are criminal and you walk away owing that money one way or another. I have thanked the powers that be repeatedly for our insurance...and the company has been wonderful to us.
In my opinion we should do everything we can to live as clean a life as possible without outside "medical" interference...insurance is a seperate issue from that I think~

Have it but use it as little as possible. Would probably use it more and go to Naturpathic MD if covered, though. Do use the dental coverage.

I have it because my husband insists and because we can afford it because it is a lot cheaper over here.
If I was on a budget and facing a choice between spending the money on insurance or buying better food, I would chose the food.

I vote "no". I am not employed (working, but not formally employed) and lost my benefits when I left my last company in July.
Right now, I'm looking for another company to work full-time for just for the benefits, but if that doesnt happen and I continue to work from home and freelance, I dont know what I will do for coverage.
I'm scared to death--raw food cant protect you if you have an accident.

We know. We hear the European spiel all the time.
