Hi,
I'm brand new to raw food. At this point, I'm about 75-80% raw for the past 3 weeks. So far so good. I feel mostly ok. Some weight is beginning to come off since including more green smoothies and less nuts/avocados. Only thing is this. Most of the time, I feel either dizzy or spacey. Anyone else experience this?
Thanks,
Danielle

What exactly are you eating on most days? I think I felt that way once or twice when I first started eating raw. I cannot tell you exactly what caused it, but I don't experience it anymore and haven't for some time now.

Hi,
I've eaten a raw smoothie most mornings. Either a green one or a fruit one. Lunch is typically some veggie concoction! Sometimes a nori roll with avocado, cukes, red peppers, carrots. Sometimes it's a raw spinach soup or a salad. Dinner, with my family, is a bit different. As I said, I'm not 100% so sometimes I'll eat what they eat which is neither vegetarian nor raw or I'll make something vegetarian but it's cooked. There's been no rhyme or reason that I can think of with anything specific. In the beginning I was eating too many nuts and avocados and I reduced that and increased my green smoothie intake and started loosing some weight. All the while though, dizzy/spacey.
Thanks,
Danielle

I've heard/read it said from a few members here that substantially cutting down on their nut/fat intake caused them to begin to feel spacey. So, that "may" be a connection, not sure.

For me... cutting out fruit stopped the dizzies... (especially fruit high in sugar, vitamin A and Vitamin E) I am highly allergic to vitamin a and e... and it wasn't until last week that someone posted a list of 'what's in your veggies and fruit'. I noticed that the fruit that I cannot eat ~ that cause almost INSTANT vertigo are also very high in Vit A and E.
yes... i know - I'm wierd  !! and lemme tell you... oh gawd I doo so miss mangos and watermelon... (sob... sniffles... and pout!!) http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/Cry_Blow_Nose.gif
hope you're feeling better soon!

Thanks Starfire. I think you may be on to something. Can you tell me where I can find that list that you mentioned?
Thanks,
Danielle

Yes I experienced this on and off for my first few months raw.
I think I was detoxing. Often I think that's a cop-out answer, but for me it's true. It just went away without changing anything.
Prior to raw though I had serious blood sugar ups and downs and was a total sugar addict, so my blood sugar had to work stuff out.
Green juice, especially with celery, helps a lot. Also eating enough, and getting a LOT of sleep. I'll notice the feeling now if I am really tired.
Love,
Sunshine

Get checked to see where your blood sugar is at. Also cut down on High Sugar fruits like cantalope water melon even banannas are high in Sugar like 25% Check into the Glycemic index and see how High on the index of what your eating. here are some links.

Try to eat fruits or foods that are under 55 on the index. or have some Seeds like chia seeds that will help to keep your blood sugar at a lower level too. This will help you not to get Dizzy too. Drink lots of water too. Doug in Calif........
