Hi everyone.
My apologies to the guys on this forum...but can any of the women here suggest any RAW comfort foods and any other remedies for menstrual cramps? It's really cold in this apartment (in Siberia)....I'm actually missing a window!....and I'm feeling really crappy right now. I'd say I'm probably suffering from that weather-related type of depression - seasonal whatever-it's-called - 'cuz it's grey and rainy outside, too.
I hate to have to take meds, but I took an ibuprofen and I have a hotwater bottle.
It's hard not to crave hot foods! Right about now I could go for some hot coffee with cream and sugar, plus a big omelette....Help! I can't let myself eat that SAD crap!
Well, if any of you can suggest something to help me resist temptation, I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

I feel like a pro with this....
- eat as little as possible. If i fast during the day and drink a lot of water, my cramps usually cease
- CRAMP BARK - it's a miracle worker
- Raspberry leaf tea (I make pitchers of it as sun tea and drink like 8 cups a day)
- Green juice
- downward dog yoga pose
- hot baths and the hot water bottle
- rest and cherish your body!

Thanks Sunshine! Thanks all!
Still feeling sh***y today, too, but this should be the last big day. Times like these, I really look forward to menopause. Hot flashes couldn't possibly be as bad as cramps, could they? He he.

Baths and warm naps help. I pile on the blankets!!
I up my cacao intake. When I realize that I've started I take a magnesium supplement, just in case. I used to get really bad migraines from magnesium deficiency during my TOM. Iron is good too! Take iron with OJ, iron is better absorbed when in the presence of vitamin C.
I also eat a lot of heavier foods, dates, nuts, cacao :) It helps. If I'm craving salty, I'll drizzle agave on some walnuts and add some sea salt. Soo good!! Cashews help too! Just plain :D

Magnesium is the key...you can do a sun tea of RRL and Nettles and that should take care of it nicely. Infuse about 1/4 cup each in a quart of water for several hours. Drink and enjoy!

This seems to require consistent use in order to work; wont work instantly, but my housemates and i found that if we took magnesium supplements CONSISTENTLY throughout the month (or maybe could get away with starting 2 wks before period, i forget), it virtually eliminated cramping, and i used to get bad cramps. i havent had the same effect just taking the supplements a day or two in advance though, seems like it has to be in your system

Right. IT's not an aspirin. The idea is to correct the deficiency which doesn't take two days. If you're good about taking it several times a week you should be fine for next month. Good luck!

ahhh, to be rid of that.
i read many times that sticking to 100% raw diminishes the problem a little more every month till it doesn't make a problem at all.
one thing i noticed makes my cramps waaay worse is drinking something cold. if i don't do that it's much better. warm rasberrry leaf tea is a wonderful thing.
i am looking forward to the end of this too....
but if i stick to the raw, maybe relief till then. :)
feel better darlin!
