So WHO is up for doing a little liver cleanse this week???
I know lots of us have talked about trying it, so let's quit the talk and walk the walk...
Let's follow, the plan that Alyssa has left outlined for us. Here is the link: http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?p=255204#post255204
Let's start on Monday, remember it takes six days to prepare and then on the 7th Day, that's when the real fun begins!!!
If you've never done a liver cleanse before and have always wanted to or you've done one in the past and feel it's about that time to do it again, please join in!! NOW IS THE TIME!!
Check in and share your experiences at any stage in the cleanse!!
Gegeh... I did just do one two days ago!
It was my very first, last week I suddenly felt an urge to do it and just couldn't neglect it (really, it was like my liver was pulling me by the hair to dó it or else...!). Never in my life would I have thought I would ever do something like this!
I didn't do the whole preparation thing and I didn't do any parasite or whatever cleanse beforehand. I think it depends on the person (your health, how toxic your body is, etc), but I just felt I could do it like that. I figured that the whole raw food thing that I had been doing for weeks now, has been a good preparation by itself (most of the people who do this flush actually don't eat raw), so I didn't do all the apples and the applejuice (I haven't got a juicer and didn't want to drink the pasteurized stuff from the store). I did eat two apples but left it by that (I'm not really an apple girl).
It was an interesting experiment/experience and I would probably do it again, and although it's too early to say yet what the long term effects will be, my liver feels a lot less clogged, and I've already noticed improvement in my digestion. In general, I found it very easy to do, and I passed a lot of stones and stuff.
If you have questions, just ask. Not that I'm an expert now, but as a 'normal girl' (meaning no cleansing experience or whatsoever except for the 2 or 3 times in my life I tried to fast half heartedly and 'failed' :o), who just did a liver cleanse, I just thought it wasn't scary or difficult or anything weird at all.
http://curezone.com/cleanse/liver/huldas_recipe.asp has a lot of information as well, especially in the forum (Alissa posted the Hulda Clark recipe from that site).
If I notice any other health benefits the upcoming days, I'll post!

Thanks Judy, for sharing your experience!
I am very suprised that no one else is interested in doing a liver cleanse right now??? Maybe I should post it in another category? Maybe the "fasting" category??
Hmm....

I am doing one next week! It will be my first. I REALLY need one and want to do it after reading Andreas' book. Somehow I cannot do the apple juice. I am going to susstitute with Malic acid powder for the 6 days and then do it. I was going to do it a few weeks ago but I was too scared and didn't think that was a good state to be in to do this. I feel so ready for it now.
My body is not in a good state at all so I need to do this!!

Little Mango,
I am so glad someone else is going to do this with me!! Please check in on how it goes!!
And I'll keep you posted!!
Now, come on everyone...where are you at?? We can't be the only two that are ready to do a liver cleanse?? It's not all that scary!
In fact, somewhere I was reading a poll that said most people that tried it, said they'd do it again and that they liked doing it and saw much benefit from it. So it can't be that bad, if they'd do it again.

OK I have been thinking about doing one this week. I have done two in the past. The first one I prepared a little more in that I drank a quart of apple juice over about 3-4 days before hand (not exactly what they recommend but it was something at least) and I did pretty good getting lots of stones. The second one I just jumped in and did it and got very few small ~tiny~ stones. So it seems better to prepare for it correctly. I have lots of apples right now so will start tomorrow eating them...how many do you think?
So shall we "prepare" all week and make Sunday THE DAY? It will be good to have some support and to compare results etc!:)

Ya!! I'm still in! My Malic acid came yesterday so I will be starting the 6 day prep tomorrow. Cleansing between the 12th and the 27th of this month is the best time coz we will be between the new and full moon!!
P.S...I am scared:D
PPs. Which regimen are you guys following? Is it the only Alissa posted? I'll be following the Andreas Moritz one. Also I am wanting to get a colonic a few days after

Hi Little Mango!
I am planning on taking my Olive oil concoction on Saturday night. Its the only day I can be sure I dont need to leave the house the next morning.
I need to be eating more apples though! I am going to get a gallon of apple juice and start drinking that over the next few days.
Dont be scared! I was too on my first cleanse but it was really no big deal. Have you ever done a master cleanse? if so you will be fine and will know what to expect. I didnt have any adverse effects at all and felt great afterwards. I would suggest going on curezone and reading up on their liver cleanse thread so you get comfortable with the idea.

I tell ya- i go to work for a few days and I miss all kinds of stuff!! so... there's a liver cleanse going on - okay... I'm a bit behind here - so.... what is this I'm reading about eating all these apples? I can't eat apples I'll go into a very bad place!!! I don't recall reading anything on Alissas liver cleanse to eat apples.... maybe that's why I had such a hard time when I did my liver cleanse?? It literally kicked my arse.... I was down for about 3 days.... Yikes!!!
I want to go on a cleanse too... but I'm now thinking how can I do this without eating apples??
hmmmm... any ideas rawbies??

You don't need to eat the apples.
It's all about the pectine (to soften the 'stones' if needed, but most of them are soft anyway), which can be found in all fruits and vegetables (so that's why raw food usually is enough), only apples (esp. tart ones) have a lót of it. Other fruits that have lots are oranges (and I believe other types of citrus fruits as well), plums, cranberries, gooseberries and pears. So you could eat those as well.
Remember that most people who do a liver flush, aren't raw foodists. So they may need those apples more ;).
Prior to your flush, you can aid the liver by drinking lemon water (lukewarm water with juice of half a lemon) first thing in the morning and maybe again one hour or so before lunch, grapefruit and orange (whole or as juice), eating low fat and more fruits and greens, drinking herbal tea especially for the liver, and do liver packs with castor oil (google it up). Alternative health practices like affirmations and visualizations, dealing with certain emotional issues, acupuncture etc. may help as well.
The flush is different for everyone, depending on age, health etc. For me it was rather easy, however I have been tired for a couple of days after and needed extra sleep. I also couldn't handle fatty things very well the first days after. It dóes have an impact on your body, so you have to take a lot of rest and extra care of yourself on the days after the flush, but in the long term it's all for the better :). I'd certainly do it again, because I do feel the benefits. After the flush I also started incorporating some of the things above like grapefruit juice, liver tea and liver packs, to take extra (after)care of my hardworking liver...

Hi Hawaiigirl. I wouldn't want to go into doing a liver flush if I hadn't researched lots and lots. I have been reading about it for months but have been too chicken to do it. Oh and I am a few days behind you:( I'm gonna take mi olive oil/G juice a couple of days after you!
I'll try not to be scared about it!:)
Starfire, I agree with everything Judy said. You can susbtitute for cranberry juice, it works just as well. You can also do ACV. Mix one to two tablespoons in a glass of water and drink 4 servings per day for the six days. (This is from "The Amazing Liver and Gallbladder flush" by Andreas Moritz)

So I started the cleanse yesterday afternoon - did not eat after 2pm - took the epsom salts at 6pm and again at 8pm - olive oil and grapefruit juice at 9.50pm ~~ I was tired and decided 10 minutes wouldnt hurt....after lying down my tummy was rumbling alot and I had a couple of twinges which I envisioned as being stones releasing.....I slept well and woke up at 7am
took my epsom salts again....
It is now just after 8am (Hawaii time)and I have an hour to go before I have my second dose of salts. So far I have passed alot of "chaff" which apparently is a good thing too and about 12 stones the size of tapioca seeds...
The last two cleanses I have done I used the bathroom probably 7 or 8 times before I was done with it and this will take me the next couple of hours or so...
I will check back in a little later on ;)

Well - I didnt get rid of a whole lot more stones etc after the second dose of Epsom Salts this morning. But feel really cleaned out. My energy has sky rocketed and I have had the most amazing afternoon - tons of energy and I feel really peaceful at the same time.. This is how I felt the last two cleanses I have done - they lasted for a few days with that feeling of well being and lightness.
So go for it Little Mango! I hope you have a similar experience to mine!

Question...is it ok to juice all of the lemons at once and just refrigerate the juice? Anyone know???
StarFire
09-17-2007, 07:29 PM
Hey beppa... I (in my star logic) think you should be able to juice a bunch of them and just refrigerate -- but I have read in several places ... that they should be juiced fresh EACH TIME... same thing with the master cleanse - they need to be juiced fresh each time you mix the drink!
so you goin on the liver cleanse??? kwool... :D

Hi Beppa. ES is Magnesium sulphate. If it says that then it is food grade. When I got mine I was too a little cautious so I asked just incase....lol. On my box it says use for constipation so I am guessing its ok.:D
I am cancelling my liver cleanse until Oct 11th. I am doing the kidney cleanse first. I have some pain in the little devils. I'll still want full accounts from everyone!!!!;)

My husband and I did a liver cleanse this weekend. Although we found an easier recipe in drinking apple juice for 2 days, then on 2nd night starting at 9pm you drink 4 oz. of olive oil and 3oz. of lemon juice and repeat 2 more times if you can.
I did some malic acid capsules too and could only get down one glass of the olive oil....
My husband had great results. TONS of stones and they were huge!
I only saw 2 for me but this is my 3rd cleanse. Unless I didn't see them. I'm pretty jealous cause I know they are there!!
I cannot loose weight at all so I was hoping this would help. Maybe I need to repeat the cleanse again.

Lydias, don't be jealous, two stones out is better than two stones clogging up the liver! You did great! And yes, once you start to cleanse don't stop as the stones will keep travelling forward. You'll get there!!!:)

Well, maybe it was the same! There's only one type of epsom salt as far as I know and you can use it for many things: for internal use ánd baths ánd plants and much more.
It could be however, that the bath salt has additions to it besides the epsom salt. It couldn't hurt to ask next time or check the label...

is it good to do colonics after the liver cleanse?

Ya, also I learned that some stones may get lodged in the colon after a cleanse and cause you to not feel too good so a colon cleanse a few days after a LC is a good idea.
Starfire....I didn't mean to scare you. Does it/did it say Magnesium Sulphate on the packaging?
Yesterday/the day after I did another liver flush, my second one.
It wasn't as easy as the first one, meaning I suddenly and strangely enough didn't like the taste of the epsom salts and the olive oil, plus there was one moment I felt terribly nauseated and regretted I had ever started, but that was the moment it all started 'happening' and as soon as I went to the toilet it disappeared.
Besides all this, it went the same as the first time (it was all very predictable and I almost felt like a liver flush veteran), I passed lots of stones, and like then, I am feeling really tired. I noticed some emotional upheaval as well, that probably had to do with the fact that I chose to do some major inner work during this flush and symbolically let go of all the things in my life I didn't need or want anymore and think about everything I'd like to change.
O yeah, things I did differently this time (besides the letting go work): I did a second dose of olive oil and grapefruit juice the next morning (on the Hulda Clarke site it said you'd pass more stones that way) and kept drinking water (the first time I didn't, followed the instructions exactly and felt really thirsty and kind of deprived). The water thing was really a good tip, I read it on the curezone.com forum, just make sure you don't drink like at least 20 minutes before and after each epsom/olive oil intake. I also did it on a full moon's eve (I'm investigating if and how the moon cycles have any influence on my life). I don't have the idea that I passed more stones than the last time or anything, it was more or less the same.
Honestly, I have mixed feelings about the liver flushes. On one hand, I believe it dóes something and it really unclogs your liver, on the other hand my skeptical part says those scientists who say the stones are just 'soapified olive oil and made during the flushing process' are right. Not that I will give them the benefit of the doubt, but I've just noticed a part of me that objects to all these major lifestyle changes! And the flushes, even though they aren't really that big a deal to do, they are kind of... well, not really 'slow and gentle' to the body...
I don't have any serious health problems, and the only thing I can think of this would be great for is better health and energy overall and that's what I'm striving for. I really don't know what this whole thing will do for me eventually, but am willing to give it a try for a couple of flushes (say, like ten or so, I figured I'd have to go through with it all the way even if I wouldn't notice immediate results, before I'd prematurely make a judgement and deny myself the 'wonders' that could happen) and see what will happen in the long run.

Hi Crawmommy. Foof, thats a loada questions!
-Epsom salts can be purchased from any pharmacy. If you are unsure just ask someone there if it can be taken internally. My packet says for constipation so it is edible.
-The Gallstones are coming out your bottom. You don't throw them up.
-It is recommended to do the liver flush on a weekend so that you can recover if you have any nausea or some tiredness.
CM, all your questions seems like you are rather unfamiliar with liver flushing. Even though you will get a tonne of support here I would seroiusly recommend that you read up on it and then read up on it again either from a reputable liver cleaning site or from a book. I can recommend "The amazing liver and gallbladder flush" By Andreas Moritz. It is a fascinating read and will tell you everything you need to know and more!
Much Love x
Yay, I've ordered 'The Liver and Galbladder Miracle Cleanse' by Andreas Moritz, which is basically the same book as the one you've mentioned Little Mango, only cheaper and a bit simpler in the graphic design department, I believe.
I'm really looking forward to it, it will give me more insights and a better understanding of the whole process (my rational part probably needs that) :).
Thanks for the tip!
