Hello ya'll,
I was wondering if any of you have experienced or know about whether fasting (or juice feasting) helps the adrenals.
The last fast I did was in January when I did 21 days (7 days juice/7 days water/7 days juice). I had wanted to fast more frequently but when I stopped losing weight (still 40 pounds overweight...at least), I thought perhaps the fasting had messed with my metabolism and so have been trying to deal with that. Nothing seems to change that situation so now I'm back to wanting to fast (both water only and juice) as a part of a regular cycle of life.
Any info ya'll might have on adrenal fatigue, how it might be helped with fasting, etc. would be very appreciated.

Hi Frecs,
This may not be helpful to you but no one else has responded...
I have/had borderline adrenal and thyroid probs. I have done the master cleanse in the past and felt that it slowed my metabolism down greatly. I wanted to do another fast/cleanse but my body was telling me not to do a master cleanse or juice fast. I decided to do a green smoothie fast (for 12 days) as it seemed less harsh and extreme. I ended up revving up my metabolism, dropped weight (among many other benefits) and the effects have lasted so far. I worked out a lot during the fast and my metabolism and blood sugar never seemed to drop. I also added flax and hemp seeds and coconut oil to the smoothies. I'm kinda thinking coconut oil is a miracle. It helps you shed fat, build muscle, feel full and it makes your skin soft.
I'm starting another smoothie fast today and I hope to work my way towards a juice fast if my body's up for it in a couple of weeks.
Good luck to you!

Hi Frecs...
but it also depends on how bad your adrenals are....it seems to me that mine are kinda the worst around here  I know for me, I tried the master cleanse before I knew I had adrenal problems (but I was very symptomatic) and it was just awful. coconut oil is great for adrenals, they need fat, sea salt and vitamin c to repair. your stalled weight loss can have more to do with adrenal issues and less with metabolism. My adrenals knocked all other hormones out of whack, so my insulin and glucose went haywire.
I would definitely stick to the green juices and healthy fats. good luck :D

I have found that juice fasting is beneficial for my adrenals, but only if I quit all stimulants (caffeine) ahead of time, not on the same day I start fasting. I tried to quit caffeine and fast on the same day once and I felt so exhausted--much worse than normal. Also, it is very important to not have any stress during the fast. If you have an adrenal problem and you have stress while you fast, that's not good at all. I add energizing coconut oil, himalayan crystal salt, and maca to a smoothie in the morning and drink juice for the rest of the day.
