My cycles are usually 35-38 days long, but now I'm on day 44 and my period has no arrived yet. I did have every PMS symptom known to man so I figured it should be here at any moment.
1. Does detox cause late periods?
2. Is it possible to not have a "bleeding" period on a raw diet?

I seriously doubt I have low body fat. I am getting slim and and can feel bones in places where I couldnt before, but, I still have "meat" so to speak.
From what I´ve heard and read it is not very healthy to bleed every month. When your body have healed there is no blood, pain or other problems connected to menstruation. You can still have babys without bleeding. Ovulation does not depend on it. :)

Weird! If that's true... that would be awesome!

Has there been a lot going on this month? Your ovulation day could have just been delayed. I know that's what happened to me!

That could be it. I did thought I "felt" ovulation several weeks ago, but it could have been my body gearing up for it, but not following through. I guess Ill see what will happen several days or weeks from now.

I still get PMS symptoms, but I don't bleed.
I refuse to get all worried about it, but at the same time I wonder if it's hormonal imbalance..etc...
If the only "bad" thing about it is that I wouldn't be able to conceive someday or something, that's fine..I don't want kids, and you'll never hear me complaining about not bleeding...
But if the health effects would be more detrimental, I'd wanna have it checked up on. I never know what's serious or not, because pre-raw alot of things I had were WAY MORE SERIOUS than the doctors/media would tell you (or they didn't know), and then things that aren't that huge of a deal, they're advertising like CRAZY (Gardisil? If you're not sexually active, it's not necessary!)...

I guess it would be a bad thing for me because I do want children (for years) and have dealt with infertility in the past so this would have me concerned. The problem is I have totally given up on OBs, except when I need to get a pap (and I can get that done through a midwife). OBs have never been much help to me at all. I really wouldn't know where to turn if I think I have a serious problem.

"Experiments on animals have conclusively shown that the frequency of ovulation, and consequently estrus (corresponding to menstruation in humans), is a DIRECT function of diet. Over-feeding, especially on protein foods (and of the wrong kind of protein), has the tendency to accelerate (stimulate) the growth and bursting of the Graafian follicles [which produce the eggs] by creating an excess of follicular fluid. In women this results in menstrual discharge.... Undomesticated animals do NOT menstruate.... But under conditions of domestication or captivity, these sexual periods become more frequent, and the genital congestion attending them becomes more intense, until it finally manifests as a menstrual hemorrhage. It is now agreed by most observers that the cause of menstruation among domesticated animals is the food they receive at the hands of man. In other words, after the non-menstruating animal is captured, the pro-estrum becomes transformed into a bloody flow as a result of unnatural foods and artificial conditions of living." (2:37)
Is the cause likely to be any different in humans? No. The effects of congestion on womb tissues and the fine capillaries, or arterioles, which nourish them are the same with all creatures who have those structures (15:230). And the key is live food.
"Women who eat a vegetarian diet containing mostly raw food experience only brief periods, scarcely noticeable, with hardly any loss of blood. Dr. H. G. Beiler in his book, The Natural Way to Sexual Health, explains that women experience troublesome periods only because of the toxic condition of their blood brought about by the high fat and protein Western diet." I know there are some women who "lose" the bleeding periods on a vegan diet, but I doubt I am no where near optimum health for that to happen. I might expect in a few years, but not after just several months. Oh well, there could be a million reasons, including stress. :) :(

I have my doubts...but I don't know. Intuitively I don't think they should be long or painful, but I do believe you should see blood each month. That's just my uninformed opinion though.
There is a raw midwife, her name is Dixie. She is around and used to be on this board. I know I've seen her before and after pics frequently. She'd be a good person to ask.

Oh well, so much for not bleeding LOL. Not only am I bleeding, but passing huge clots. No, I'm not pregnant, I tested this morning. My guess is that it will be at least a year (raw) before my cycles are more "normal".

keep an eye on your menses, especially with how long you've been raw.
i was skipping a month or months and then experiencing long, heavy periods as "make up"s for over a year when i was 100%.
now i'm 80% and 20% cooked organic "healthy" vegan since mid july and my last 2 periods have not only come on time for the first time since going raw in august 2005, but theyve both been very light and the most recent one was 100% pain free. the little half moons on my nails have come back, too.
everyone's different, though. just be careful, especially since you're dealing with pcos (which i was diagnosed with last month, btw, after all those issues and still after 18 months raw :( )
