I really don't know for sure why you are so thirsty...maybe you should have your blood sugar checked? Excessive thirst is one symptom of diabetes. Since you are eating raw, I doubt that you have diabetes, but it would be better to know for sure.

I love your quote...Albert really was a wise old man, eh?? ;)

This is just a thought, but perhaps your body is needing extra water to cleanse the cells? Or if you are consuming a lot of dehydrated foods?

The only other thing I could think of is the electrolyte balance between sodium and potassium. If that is the case then you could add some celery into your diet for the natural sodium.

The increase in dietary fiber also leeches water from your body, so just keep drinking lots of water..it can't hurt, right? Whatever's going on electrolyte- or fiber-wise, I've been craving more water as well but I seem to be doing alright otherwise.

I was drinking a ton of water when I first went raw. I think it was good for the detox process anyway. I was VERY thirsty, so I think that was a way of my body telling me I needed more water during that time. Though I still drink a lot of water, the thirst is not excessive.

are you sweating more than usual? is it hot where you are? that can account for some increased thirst.

are you sure it's actual thirst and not dry mouth? it's really dry here and i find myself sucking down water just to wet my mouth often when i'm not all that interested in the water itself.

the other thing that popped into my mind is that maybe you are now able to discern thirst from hunger. supposedly that's a huge issue for a lot of people and i believe that raw can go a long way to helping people identify the two.

if it keeps up, there's no harm in having yourself checked for diabetes, just to put your mind at ease.

I would say detox. How much were you drinking before this "excessive thirst" thing came on? I think people really do need more water than just 8 glasses, even on raw. Water is THE most important thing for the body. Maybe like some that eat a lot of fat, and then none, it could just be your body going through a phase at the moment. Just try to listen to it!
