View Full Version : Why Am I Losing My Appetite?

Hey y'all.

Today was so weird.

Basically, I just had a green smoothie at around 12 noon: parsley, green apple, cucumber, and 2 bananas.

Then, I worked straight through the day with nothing else except water and herbal tea. At 7pm I ran a fast 4 loops in the forest (about 40 minutes). I didn't even feel tired.

For dinner I made this huge gazpacho-coleslaw type of salad. Maybe I used too much carrot or onion or garlic. I just didn't feel like eating it after I grated everything up. So after a few bites, I made a banana pudding out of 3 bananas and ate that.

And now I'm sated, ready for bed. So all I've had today, really, was a green smoothie and 3 bananas. I'm not hungry and have so much energy. Whoa! Is this good.........or - horrors - am I becoming anorexic or something?

Have any of you had this experience?

One other thing: my period is only 3-5 days away and I have not had any PMS symptoms whatsoever. Unbelievable!

Hi courtney, I was actually noticing this myself the other day. I've been raw close to three weeks. I did not really feel much detox symptons, I have not noticed an increase in enery, BUT I have noticed that i do not eat nearly as much as on sad. I always loved my two snacks a day (they were usually healthy) but now i'm not even hungry. I do still try to eat three meals (i guess i feel safe that way) but yestereday I had a small green smoothie (4oz), a avocado and some sprouts at lunch, then two bananas and some almonds at dinner. I feel that is little but just wasn't hungry. I guess since raw food contains all it's vitamins, nutrient, fiber, all in tact. we just need less of it. Glad someone was feeling the same as me ;)

Your body is transitioning. It's getting what it needs - whole, healthy, living foods. I'd say it's a good thing!

Thanks for the reality check, Sparklebread! Just curious: about how much water do you drink daily, on average? I drink about 2 liters, sometimes more. Maybe that also helps curb the appetite. Think so?

Thanks, Lucy.

I remember reading this book about yoga. It was about this 50-something, overweight man's odyssey for better health. Having recently suffered a heart attack, he started taking beginning yoga lessons. He was describing his yoga instructor who was a raw vegan. Although 35, she looked like a teenager. He said that she literally got by on just handfuls of "rabbit food" every day. She wasn't anorexic or anything. With so little food, she was still maintaining her weight. Amazing!

(Oh, and I am thinking: just think how we could feed everyone on this planet if everyone turned raw. We probably will one of these centuries, out of necessity...)

I am transitioning into raw a little over a week. I was extremely hungry the first 5 days. Now I feel a lot better and my hunger has subsided 100%. I feel less need for food now than when I was eating (SAD like) vegetarian food.
My husband is calling me a rabbit now.
I am even having energy to go to the gym. What is more intriguing to me is how a couple of crackers and almonds fill me up after the gym as before i could eat everything in my fridge.
