Hi! I have recently undergone 100% raw (as of last Friday). Before that I have been about 75% raw for the past 2 months. Besides other detox symptoms (scatchy throat, runny nose, head and body aches) I have noticed that at times I have become sort of manic and have been quite snippy at my husband too. Is this another detox symptom that will pass? How can I calm this down? Drink more water? Eat more greens? I didn't think that the emotional detox would really happen until further on down the line...
Thanks for your help!

Yes, it's been stated that when you eliminate cooked food from the diet, you go through some emotional detoxification as well as physical. It's like, when we eat cooked food, especially S.A.D. food, we are numbing and stuffing down emotions, but when you are no longer doing that and you begin eating raw foods, you are kinda "ripping off the bandaid" that was covering up all that and it will surface and then eventually heal.

I have also found that it's a part of the whole "withdrawal from cooked food" symptoms too. Ask your husband to have patience with you during this process..have patience with yourself during this process as it will pass...when, we cannot exactly tell you.

I also don't want to recommend certain foods to you as I'm not an expert at what foods are "calming" etc. but I'm sure others will/may come along and give you some advice on that spectrum. Hang in there!

Thanks Rawlinlocs! I appreciate your advice. I'll also make more of an effort to relax a bit more too with yoga and breathing.

I'd appreciate anyone else's input on foods that they may have felt were more "calming".

Hi bonbon,

I'm new to this as well, and let me tell you my son is ready to move out. I have always been a huge Diet Coke addict and I've been trying to ween myself off of it. I finally stopped completely this week and I'm out for blood. Just letting you know that I know how you feel!

Hi lore-ah!
Sorry to hear about the Diet Coke detox. I quit coffee cold turkey last year when I became pregnant - that was not fun. Before that, a few years ago, I went raw for about a month, also quitting coffee cold turkey and I remember spending a lot of time in bed away from people... Does Diet Coke have caffeine?

I guess we just have to take deep breaths before we blow up at people and maybe just leave the room for a minute while we calm ourselves down. This is a difficult time right now because I have a baby and a husband to care for whereas before when I did this, all I didn't really have to deal with anyone (my dh was deployed with the military then).

I guess we can commiserate with each other and keep going! I find that the anger comes in waves and passes soon after it appears, but it catches me by surprise!

good luck!! :)

Diet Coke has tons of caffeine, I'm dying over here without it. I'm having a green smoothie while trying to block it out of my mind.

I don't have a baby, but I did 15 years ago. I still remember all that hard work! My baby is now starting high school tomorrow :(

When I get uptight I make a glass of straight celery juice and that always brings me out of it. Try it and see if it works for you like it does for me.
