I seem to be at a real spot that I am spinning my tires. I have been doing raw since the beginning of May 07, the first three months were wonderful, dropped 40 pounds and was craving the greenies and fresh foods etc. But since the very end of July beginning of August the smoothies have lost their effectiveness, I followed the rules about changing the greens so I wouldn't get bored or toxic from them, I also have been sneaking in some crap food almost daily, not a lot but enough to sabotage my efforts.

I guess my question is why aren’t the green smoothies doing their job anymore? I drink over a liter of stuff in the morning and feel hungry twenty minutes later, and same at night. The other kicker that has gotten me a bit bummed is that my blood pressure has gone back up.

Any suggestion on getting back on track and get the smoothies working again

Cheers
Jo

No green smothie is an island. You probably need to look at your diet in general and make sure you're getting everything you need. If you are still hungry after downing a smoothie it means your body is 'looking' for something else it didn't get. Perhaps your needs now that you've dropped weight are different than before.

What do you put in the smoothies? I add hemp protein powder and that helps. I haven't tried, but many add coconut oil, fat helps you to feel full...

All of the above and also, seasonal local foods. Where do you live? Is your body trying to stock up for winter? Maybe sprout grains?

Make sure to use also Kale, dandelion, wheat grass, the greens of the beets, spinach of course beside Boston Salad.

Also, follow your body and just eat and don't worry. Of course, i am talking about raw food. You may need more protein which will come with hempseeds, nuts and seeds. Of course you need to soak them. Adding hempseeds in your smoothies will make them more consistent, etc... Some people needs 50% protein some others only 20-30%. Raw food is so new and everyone is different with different DNA or nutritional physical needs.

We all are different and you need to follow your intuition. First you need to train your body by introducing as much of variety of food as you can, so it cans send you the right craving signal.

Add also more omega 3 oil in your diet, you can take 1 table spoon every day or most days (flax seed oil, pumpkin oil, hempseed oil, etc....) We need the good fat in order to loose the bad one.

Don't be afraid to eat good fat or fruits, follow your craving. I have lost all the extra pound and i never deprive myself. I am still clearing.

Best wishes on your journey!
