When fall is around the corner, I get all giddy. Many stores here are already stock piled with Halloween "goodies" and the weather is getting slightly cooler in the morning and chilling off at night. Days are getting shorter and soon the leaves on the tree's start to change.
Fall will be a challenge for me to stay high raw. Roasted marshmallow's and Halloween candy are soo naughty. I must stay away! Far far away! I will be making many raw pumpkin pies! Mmmm Yummy!
How are you dealing with the season's change, the different foods available during the fall after summer's crop such as watermelon is scarce?

I started raw in December, so I really don't think about it. I just eat what I eat. We didn't "do" Halloween anyway. We always went to dinner at our favorite restaurants as a family instead. It's our tradition. So we'll probably be heading to the cafe this year as opposed to a SAD restaurant (so the kids can get their raw favorites). HTH!:D

I just see it as a new season with new produce to incorporate! I would look up one of those charts to see what is in season, but fall always reminds me of winter squash! Time for pumpkin pies and soups!

It's been hitting 110 degrees here... not even thought of it. Halloween? Ummm, just another day.
As far as what to eat? Probably more raw pies. That sounds good. Probably not pumpkin... too much like work. Apple though. Uh huh, uh huh... nod, nod, nod. :D

Same here as far as eating what my body needs or desires. Of course my green smoothies are a yearly/daily staple. Won't know until my co-op boxes arrive and then I'll see what becomes of it. I had a present at my doorstep a neighbor dropped off some red peppers and a butternut squash. Gonna use half the squash as "pasta" and the other half I'm thinkin' of a caramel/butternut squash cookie (recipe is formulating in my head)...

We don't do Halloween here, either, but I am looking forward to using all those lovely pumpkins and squashes in some raw recipes!

Some of us do Halloween in a more traditional sense, and pay our respects to our dead. Do a little research. It's a lovely holy day. And not one based on the senseless consumption of mass produced chocolates ...

Oh yes, I love the traditional Halloween lore. It is a pagan holiday co-opted by Catholics and has become a ridiculous excuse to eat lots of candy and dress up as anything you want.
Traditionally, on All Hallow's Eve you dress up as ghosts, goblins, etc.. only to scare away the dead who are searching for bodies to possess. Not to offend anyone, but you are not supposed to dress up as princesses and "happy" things!:p

My kiddos love halloween. Not to gorge on candy, but they love getting dressed up (scary or cutesy), they love walking around seeing everyone else dressed up, they love talking to the people who are handing out the "treats".
We will *Trick Or Treat For Unicef* this year, and every year that follows, so that the tradition of getting dressed up and beng out and about doesn't get lost just because we're raw. My kids love heling others, so that makes it all the more worthy. We never ate any of the candy, anyway.
I'm drooling over pumpkin pie right now!! Yum. And apple pie! Mmmm. Tell me, is there a way to make either of these without a dehydrator??? We don't have one, and have no interest in getting one any time soon.
