**if this thread breaks some protocol, I apologize in advance**

Hi everyone,

I found this site last week and immediately ordered Alissa's book. Well thanks to the holiday weekend it's not here yet and I was hoping for a little help/encouragement.

I have always been as close to a vegetarian with out actually being one as you can get. I really don't like meat of any kind, but every so often it sounds kinda good. I spend half my time living on veggies and the other half living on garbage like bread and cheese. I've gained a lot of weight over the past two years, my blood pressure is up and I'm worried I'll do permanent damage.

Finally the question: I immediately gravitated to the green smoothies. I could live on those. What other things can a new person do while she waits patiently for her book? I don't have a dehydrator thing; I see a lot of recipes calling for that. Is that something I should get ASAP?

Thanks :)

Just eat as many raw fruits and veggies as you can. You'll be fine. There's also a ton of recipes here just using your Food Processor and not dehydrating anything.
Dips (the raw deviled egg "egg-less" spred is good.
Wait until Alissa's book comes - you'll flip!

Oops, forgive my ignorance. WELCOME!!!

Welcome..:)

Like VFL says, click on the recipe section & you'll find a bunch of recipes that don't require a dehydrator.

Wait until you get the book..You will LOVE it. Did you order the DVD as well. I highly recommend it!

I have checked out the recipes section. I found the ground walnut "taco" recipe and made that last night. I'm going to check out the deviled eggless thing right now. Thanks guys!

After the Book comes....After making all the RECIPES, using your NEW Dehydrator. You will propably want to go back to a much simplier Life. Which is drinking Smoothies....eating Salads. Keeping Fruit on hand.

MOST times after being here a while, we revert back to the Simplier way of doing things.............

Go ahead and live on green smoothies, if you want, LOL (although you may want to exercise your teeth some each day ;) ).

A dehydrator can be very handy, but not necessary for becoming a raw foodist. If you can afford it, and can see yourself putting it to good use, go for it.

Bumping this to say my book came yesterday, so I'm not just a forums mooch!

I'm totally convinced I want that dehydrator after reading the recipes. My husband even said he'd go along for the ride, and a total meat and potatoes guy.
