I've fallen off raw. I had a full on cooked binge today :( All vegan and all organic, but it was just horrible. I feel SO gross and crappy. In the beginning of the binge I got REALLY shakey and my heart started to race. Now I have a headache and feel nauseas (sp?). Would it be best to do raw tomorrow or fast? Which would get this stuff out of me the quicket and detox the most? I feel kind of guilty and like I let others down. Mostly I just feel ill.

Dream! You didn't let anyone down. I would recommend a fast.... give your belly (and yourself) a break. Day by day we do our best. ;)

Do you have any enzymes that you can take in the meantime. It may help.

Don't make such a huge deal out of eating cooked....I mean sure, raw is better, but it's NOT the end of the world or your health if you have a cooked meal. If that were true, all of us would be dead.
You haven't let anyone down...if you put raw on this HUGE pedestal, then when you "slip up" you'll feel awful! Don't do that to yourself! It's not a religion, you won't die or go to hell if you eat something cooked.
Relax, eat an apple.

I'ts more that I physically feel horrible than guilty. Sometimes I forget how bad cooked food makes me feel until I eat it....then it smacks me in the face.

No I don't actually. I may go get some later, but it would have to be tomorrow because the HFSs are closed today.

In my opinion, the healthiest thing to do at this point is to forgive yourself and move on. You'll feel bad enough as it is without the added guilt trip. And besides, it seems to me that "lapses" or "binges" like this are an important part of staying raw; they really help you realize how much you don't want cooked food anymore.
People sometimes ask me if it takes a lot of willpower for me to stay raw. Not at all, really. I just realize what will happen if I eat cooked food, and I don't want that to happen.
So lighten up and relax. You've learned a good lesson. And if you let this influence your future behavior for the better, then it's really a positive experience, right? After all, if you had never touched a stove when you were a kid, you never would have really learned why it is that you should avoid such a thing.
As for fasting vs. just back to RAW, I'd just stick to RAW. If you fast, you might be tempted to think that you've corrected your mistake, much in the same way that SAD-eaters might eat a whole cake and then "walk it off" at the gym. RAW is quite healing in its own right, don't you think? And after all, binging and purging is a bad cycle to fall into.
So, go make yourself your favorite raw treat, relax, and enjoy yourself. Let the detox begin!

Don't be so hard on yourself. Everyone has times where they've eaten or drank something and regretted it the next day physically. I'd say make sure you're really well hydrated today, do a nice big green smoothie and fall back to the raw foods you know your body really does well with.

Two words: GREEN SMOOTHIES now! Oops, my bad - that's three, but you get the picture. And water to help flush the crap out.

Just eat raw when you are hungry next. Fasting after a binge feels like a punishment for being "bad". You aren't...you are just on a path toward your goals like everyone else. You might not be hungry right away after heavier food...when you are eat something to nourish yourself~

I agree with this. Get a hold of your favorite raw foods, fruits, veggies, etc. and when you are hungry again, eat them. I know how you feel...it's a gross feeling and you feel all bogged down and crappy. You'll also feel better after a good BM (sorry, but it's true!) so eat foods that you know will help get those bowels a movin' - probably green smoothie as Veganforlife suggested as well as anything else that you find helps you "move"...apples, flax crackers or flax period, watermelon, etc.
Just rest or perhaps maybe getting active and moving is best to help get stuff moving and don't worry, you won't be feeling like this for long.

yes, cleansing is important after eating all cooked. Feeling crappy afterward is a good thing too. I think it's about why you are eating cooked. I know I do not want to eat any cooked veggies or grains, but I am not 100% raw yet, so I am still eating some fish and poultry. Though I do not want to eat it, I am not there yet getting the protein balance right, as I have so many food restrictions. Not being in bondage to what you eat is most important in this, knowing you are doing your best to eat raw for your own health, no one will judge you if you eat some cooked food. I know the feeling when you are torn because you feel like you are in sin if you eat some cooked food. Just give yourself some grace, and keep on trying.

Todays a new day so set your course straight for raw and don't look back except to try to learn as much from the experience as you can and then forget about it and move on.

It is so ok to be human and humans make are never as perfect as we think we should be. Thank yourself for that healthy reminder that you really do feel best on a raw diet and keep on keepin' on.
Ok, this is goofy but it has really helped me lately, on Oprah (slight cringe) she had on a man who has a PHD in happiness, he has a websight, "the happinessproject.com" and he said, all babies are born happy, we all have that happiness and joy within us every second of every day. It is only a matter of tapping in and connecting, remembering and then we will be in happiness again. Goofy? Sure, but this has helped me so much. Like the happiness is actually bigger than me and my tired old cranky ego!!
We love you, Dreamrawwaltz. This too shall pass.

in Fruit the Food and Medicine for Man, Morris Krok recommends doing a water fast (or any fast you see fit, in my opinion) when an unfavorable food(s) is eaten. Although I don't always follow this, if you're feeling the need to cleanse after eating something unfavorable, a fast and/or enema can be taken.
And, of course, keep the raw and Loving spirit. I haven't been eating raw really at all lately, and I still think of myself as a raw foodist :D I'm just..dabbling in other areas

Confession time.
I did the same thing today. I haven't had a meal with my family in three months and since it was Labor Day, I made field peas, organic corn bread, potatoes and onions. A real southern meal. I prepared everyone ahead of time so I wouldn't get "the look" and then I ate 1 slice of corn bread and lots of potatoes and onions.
Now granted my side hurts (where it used to when I ate meat) but times like these are few and far between. I needed this time with my family and we all had a great time. I don't feel bad about this one meal but I am glad I don't eat like this any more. It makes me feel yucky. Green smoothies for me all day tomorrow!!

See on Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinners, my grandparents make us a lovely huge dinner, they spend pretty much the entire day in the kitchen and really put a lot of love into it. They don't approve at all of my brother and me being raw, and I know that they are offended when we don't eat the food they spent all day making just for us. So I do generally eat some cooked on these holiday dinners, but I usually just stick to things like their salad, maybe a roll or two with butter, fruit saaaalad, maybe some yams :) and maybe some wine
And I love making a raw dish too to bring so everyone knows it's not just carrot sticks and bananas. Last year it was stuffed mushrooms
sooooo good

I got over my family's disapproval of me & my choices years ago.
This is also why it's so easy for me to work on holidays. Double pay and I get to avoid the drama. :D

Oh i'm totally over their disapproval..it's mainly just my grandparents
I'd never give up the dinners, though, it's a big family gathering that I've been attending since I was born :)
Sooo good

Thank you everyone. I had the thought in the back of my mind to eat xx foods tomorrow too, but I won't. I know the next 3 days will be rough with food trying to detox (not to mention the heaps of salt!), but I can do it. I'm at the point of craving the raw foods again.
At the moment I'm just dealing with very very deep emotional issues and situations I've never faced before. Not sure what else to say...Way too overwhelemd to form words at the moment.
