I am so happy to have found this forum, so I can share being raw with others of like mind and spirit. I live in a very small town, where raw is something that seems to be viewed as extreme and dangerous sounding, so I don't talk about it too much. Even vegan is regarded with suspicion here in cowboy country. I think it must be somewhat similar to in Alberta, when kd lang came out as a lesbian, they were ok with that but when she announced that she was a vegetarian, they were scandalized, because Alberta is cattle country after all and so she was viewed as kind of being a traitor.
I have been heading toward raw for some time now; I have been vegetarian for year, and mostly vegan since January of 2006, and getting more and more raw, and am about 95-99% raw now. I still eat nutritional yeast, wasabi sometimes (is wasabi cooked?), braggs sometimes and a bit of a curry paste now and then. Once in a while if I am in a restaurant I will have a vegan sushi, and of course that has rice in it (white rice even). I don't know if I will move toward cutting these things out or not. I am still really enjoying them, so I am happy with that at the moment. Who knows what changes the future will bring.
I started out last January (2006) weighing 260 lbs, and today I weigh 184.2 lbs, so I have lost 75.8 lbs, and am feeling great. I have more energy, and get wonderful compliments from people all the time. I was even told recently that I glowed!
