School is getting closer.......What do you guys pack for lunch? I'm in public school so they have a cafeteria but I'm going to bring my own food cause all they have is like wilted lettuce:(

I too work for a school system, but not in a school - in the central office. Do they have a fridge? You could make veggies and dips. Or onion bread or cracker and tomatoes and avocados and sprouts. Fruit salad. Burgers (which freeze well). Or wraps - using collard greens as the wrap and fillings of your choice. The choices are endless.
Or - my famous last words: Green Smoothies

Dried fruit and nuts. The combinations are endless. You can make up your own snack mix, or buy it raw at a HFS. Some of the raw mixes they have are really wonderful because they store well and are easy to eat.
Also, the raw chili floating around here is really tasty. You could pack that in a wide mouth thermos. The corn salad is very good, as well as salsa and chips.

Trail mix got me through high school. I usually made my own. Carried a bag of it in my purse and then I didn't have to worry about food for the day.

Clementines :D
or tangerines...or mandarins...tiny citrus!!
I load up a paper lunch bag with them and eat them throughout the day. I lived on these last semester!! Theyre so tiny and cute and fun to eat! I mastered getting the peel off in one piece! haha

I also like taking brownies---equal parts walnuts and pitted dates with cacao powder. I did this the other day and it was a very nice treat while I wass studying between classes!

Apples, nuts, bananas, peel-able clementines. Thats what I live on during the semester. No joke.
Thennn I come home and make an exquisite salad :)
I like making the refried bean recipe with the sunflower seeds (it doesn't need to be refrigerated). I also pack salads, trail mix, and fruit. Today I had the summer corn salad and also some broccoli salad.

I usually take a bunch of chopped up veggies such as carrots, capsicums, cucumbers, peppers, celery. And then I follow it up with some 'nuts and bolts' (cashews, almonds, cranberries, goji berries, whatever's in the pantry).

In a small cooler I just pack a big salad with mixed greens, red cabbage, all different kinds of sprouts and my favorite dressing on the side. I also pack a piece of fruit like an apple or banana and some sunflower seeds because I'm usually in school for long hours. I think bringing more food is better than less and it's best to keep it balanced.

I love larabars, a bit too much. Not the fruit pie ones. Cinnamon roll is my favorite. I tend to skip lunch on school days.

You guys are amazing. I'm a senior in high school this year (5 weeks until graduation :D) and when I previously went raw I thought packing school lunches would be so difficult. Everyone here makes it sound easy! But, let it be known that I (even with a slow metabolism) eat a lot. I like small, frequent meals, and I never skip any. So taking something like those clementines would be great, in my opinion. Also, the fruit leather looks gorgeous! Unfortunately, I don't own a dehydrator :(

I sometimes like to just make a simple avocado or tomato soup with a few herbs here and there...my school is very strict about no nuts whatsoever. It would be nice to make something more variatixed, though , wouldn't it?

I made myself a cute sweet and savory bento for Thursday's lunch. I have class from 9am to 9pm, so I don't have time to eat and I usually starve, but I got ready this time.

I usually bring a Larabar (I just love the spicy chocolate one), an apple, and some carrots with nut butter. The whole experience is so good.
BTW that picture of your bento lunch looks so fantastic I bet that everyone is just amazed at your lunches!

Fruit, salad, flax crackers. Whole avocados are great...bring a plastic knife and spoon and just scoop out the middle. Keeps you from getting hungry for hours.

Holy makarel. Marissa that looks so freakin good.
The avocado thing is good, and thats what I did last year, only sometimes they get warm and mushy in my bag D:. Also, I fail at thinking ahead and I HATE mornings. Natalia Rose (my idol) says that she rarely eats during the day anyway, and usually just drinks her green lemonade and some fruit at noon. I think I'm going to do the same thing this school year- only I have to make sure I eat huge scrumptious raw dinners the night before and pack fruit. I'm seriously starting to live off of my green lemonades (which everyone except for me in my family HATES... not my fault I like abnormal amounts of ginger in everything...)
All these lunches look SO FREAKIN good, unfortunately I dont think I'll be able to do that since it takes time to prepare... My best bet is a good liquid and some fruit. It's not good to load up your body early in the day, anyhow.

My grandma made tis and I was surprised how good it was... white onions in vinegar with sea salt and black pepper! The onion wasn't strong at all because the vinegar neutralized it!

I either don't eat anything and have a kind of "mini-fast," or I just bring a raw foods bar or something. You can make homemade Larabars by just blending together dates and cashews in the food processor, and those are delish! If you can't do that, just bring a banana or something easy like that.

I've only found 2 flavours that I like. The rest I don't really care for... but I know MANY people who love them...

i like to make a smoothie in the morning and eat bananas/larabars throughout the day during school days. guacamole is also easy to prepare in a food processor and i sometimes make that and bring some celery to scoop it up with. it COMPLETELY fills me up, and i have a pretty large appetite.

Super fun lunch:
Take a small watermelon, and slice it in half. Wrap a half in plastic wrap. Take a sturdy spoon to scoop the innards out later. Ta-da, portable lunch is made. ;)

NEW SCHOOL YEAR!!! :eek::p
Anyways, I've been been a little more interesting with my lunch than last year. So far I've mad big batches of beet-carrot-raisin salad and spanish yam rice. :) The rice is for tomorrow and the next day (the rest I ate for dinner), and the BCR salad I got 2 3-cup meals out of, with leftovers that I mashed some bananas into and am now dehydrating to make cookies. ;)
I'm growing out of my fear of letting food sit in the fridge more than a day~ (the BCR salad actually tasted better the second time, too)
If I get off my lazy bum I'll take pics eventually.

for breakfast I just put fresh fruit in a produce bag and eat it. Like apoples, bananas, pears, nectarines, peaches, plums, mostly anything. For lunch I bring a airtight bowl of salad with sprouts I fixed before I left for school. I also go in the lunch line and only grab the fresh fruit. It's not very hard.

Healthy food and milk are my school launch. Needless to say I send a lunch from home daily. I do get him milk from the school for .85 daily. The only reason schools have to comply with this crap is if they take federal dollars.
You know this is a raw VEGAN site, yes? Milk, especially pasteurized is not even close to healthy.
