I've dabbled in eating a raw diet off and on for the past couple of years. In the past I tended to eat alot of nuts and dehydrated foods.
This time I'm taking a different approach. I've been doing alot of reading about the benefits of green smoothies. My plan is to have at least 2 green smoothies a day along with fruits and vegetables.
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone. We can do this!

I started yesterday and did great, but since today is September first I am guessing today is Day 1? I feel goooooooood. :D I just ate fruit and fruit smoothies and some baby carrots. Last night someone knocked on my door at 9pm, and I opened it and it was my neighbor asking me if I wanted a blender/juicer/food processor! It's brand new. She just bought a new one, and she kept thinking to put the "old" one (which is brand new!) on ebay, but she said she kept getting a Voice in her head, loud and clear, that kept saying "give it to Lisa". Ha. Then she kept thinking, no, I'm gonna put it on ebay, but the voice kept getting stronger "give it to Lisa!" hahahahahaha. So, Awesome. Day One and I have a brand new juicer/blender/food processor, shipped down from Heaven. :D

Just curious: are we supposed to post on this thread or the other Sept challenge thread? LOL We have a lot of excited people this month, huh?
BTW, the RAWE-O smoothie was really good and the kids inhaled it but it didn't exactly taste like an oreo or cookies and cream. But it was good!
Here's the recipe if ya want to try it:
1 Juice of 1 young cocnut
2 tablespoons soaked almonds
1 tablespoon raw cocoa nibs or cocoa powder
1 tablespoon sweetner, honey/agave nectar/soaked dates
½ soft vanilla bean, snip into little peices with scissors
Preparation
Blend.

Just curious: are we supposed to post on this thread or the other Sept challenge thread?
Well, it was a bit confusing at first, I know, but I changed the title of the other one to "September Challenge 'Sign-Up Sheet' so just post in this one for your day's events.
But a reminder to all, please allow us mods to start the challenge threads so we don't end up with multiple threads where people are posting to both. Send any suggestions of starting up new threads to us via email. Remember, we're trying something new so we'll work all the "kinks" out eventually, but for now, bear with us and the new rules! I know a couple of you asked about a new thread each day to keep things organized, etc. and I did email Alissa to ask her thoughts on doing something like that, so I'm waiting to hear back. In the meantime, just post in this one. Thanks!

That IS a good idea. Wouldn't have 50 pages of entries either. And then they could just be deleted for the next month's challenge.

The pages would be left up to read throughout the month...probably just locked at the end of the day or the beginning of the next day or something to that effect. Who knows, it could work.
Okay, my day has began and I haven't eaten yet but plan on having either a green drink or some raw cereal, haven't decided yet.
I plan to make onion bread, pizza crackers, cookies and a few other items for the week.

Great to be starting September off on the right foot with raw. I made juices today for my son who has a bad cold; I want to see if it will help him heal any faster. With his asthma his colds are really bad (coughing is hard and hoarse). Anyway...he actually looked forward to it and wanted 2 glasses. Praise the Lord - I am always happy when the boys eat my raw food and enjoy it as much as I do. My oldest makes the best chocolate pudding (raw). I get the biggest kick out of it when my oldest (14) trys something I have made raw and says "oh my God...that is so good". I don't get that type of reaction much with the SAD food, ya know? Anyway...off to try to exercise. I have Fibromyalgia and my muscles ache all the time - but I plan, this month, to work through it as much as possible while maintaining rawness (is that a word?). Good luck to everyone.
PS - I have to say I feel a kind of dumb - I do not know how to make a picture by my name, or blog, or anything. You who do are very creative.

Doing well so far. Had 2 'nanas for breakfast and an ounce of cashews so far for lunch. No idea what to eat after but I have some grapes and watermelon in the fridge.. mmmm
I was scared of doing the challenge this month because my birthday is the 19th. I know I'm going to be tempted with cake or something of the like and my Lord I do NOT want to make my own b-day cake. Now if someone else made a raw one for me.........
I decided to do the challenge cause I thought it'd be a good gift to give myself. You know, start year 23 with my best health ever...

Good day everyone!
Day one so far so good for me. I have had a apple-carrott juice and made a smoothie with celery-tomato-broc I am going to try now. I really want to do this diet the want and know why is there it is just staying away from temptations, but it is helpful to have this raw talk fourm and support. And for Lisa yea for you. I had a situation that happened to me kinda like that, but I got a nice threadmill from it. I am a runner and it will be helpful this winter.

I started the day with Banana's, then Apple and a few Almonds (directly from the Raw Grower in CA) and Spicy Pumpkin seeds that I made last week.
We are having Company for the next few days so I have the challenge of fixing to food groups, SAD and Raw.
I have planned Sushi for me, and veggies of course !! I am going to try the Almond Ginger Sushi I spyed here in a thread and the Ginger Mushroom Recipe from Sarma's book.

Just put a batch of oatmeal cookies in the dehydrator, the house will be smelling great before long!
I just threw this recipe together in case anyone would like to try it, I vary it all the time by adding mashed bananas, cocoa powder, other dried fruits, so many options!
Oatmeal Cookies
oats-Alissa's raw oat flakes
water to soak a bit, not too much
honey or agave
coconut (dried)
raisins
almond butter
You can roll these in balls or I just spoon them out on the sheets. And then just dehydrate a few hours.

Well, day one is off to a great start....raw goodness abounds! I'm expecting some detox.....actually am already experiencing a headache:( . And I'm having some intense cravings already, but will not give in.....too much is at stake, namely my health and well being! Soooo.....had a tasty fruit salad of pineapple, orange and banana for breakfast, and a huge salad of romaine, mache, heirloom tomato, cuke, celery, pea shoots, carrot and avocado with Alissa's dressing. Mmmmm, it fit into a nice big bowl and was delicious! I'm so looking forward to this month.....also trying to cut out nuts and dehydrated fruit for the month to see if that makes any difference in how I feel, and also, in the results that I'd like to see. Here's to a great month everyone!

this IS great! Sorry about your headache Shelley.
I think I've successfully changed all my habits that involved eating cooked food.. but yesterday we had heavy rain and thunderstorms, and all I wanted was hot chocolate! Traffic coing into Tahoe was ridiculous so wasn't worth it to go somewhere, which really is the only reason I didn't get some hot chocolate. BUT, I figured out something so much better!! I made hemp milk, it's a lot creamier than almond milk, then blended that in the vitamix with cacao powder, agave nectar, nutmeg and cinnamon until the vitamix got warm, OMG it was so good, I can't wait for it to rain again! Frothy and warm and chocolaty and creamy.. I can't think of anything else I'll crave that I can't have on raw, yay!!
I'm excited.. Raw September really isn't as fun to say as Rawgust tho...

I'm off to the co-op to see what they have made in the raw food deli there for dinner as I am being totally lazy today and just enjoying myself. No work, no play, no to do list, just peace and glorious sunshine.

I was looking for this thread in the main forum! Thanks Lisa for posting the link.
I am definitely happy about starting this challenge. I've been back on raw on and off for the last month but had a lot of stress (I'm going to try to keep a raw blog so you can view the whole story there). I really need some support to stick with raw for 30 days. I know if I can do it for 30 days then I can get over the issues I have with food.
I'm doing it real simple this time since I started school and don't have time to prepare a lot of stuff. Here's today's menu:
Necturine (this was mushy so tried a peach but this was mushy too - the season's way out here in TX - so took a plum)
Grapes (green and red)
Spinach, green onion, and avocado salad with curry cumin vinigrette
Raisins
Apple
Pineapple
Raw soup
Gogi berries or dried cherries
Raw fudge
The raw fudge I have to post, especially for those of us just starting out:
2 tbsp raw almond butter
1 large date soaked
1 tbsp carob powder
1/2 tsp honey (optional - only if you like your fudge very sweet :D)
Mash date with a fork. Mix in remaining ingredients and kneed into a dough. Shape into balls and refrigerate.
This is great to kill the chocolate craving and it's a single serving so if you're like me, who can't have a multi-portion dessert hanging around because you'll eat more than one, it's perfect. Also takes a few minutes to make.
Good luck, everyone!

Of course, I'll join the current 30-day challenge!! I am loving the RAW life!
This morning I had two cashew, banana, raw cocoa, agave smoothies (about 20 -24 oz?), Followed up a few hours later with a green smoothie of banana, agave, little bit cashew and lots of dark green lettuce. (I was out of spinach! Wahhh!:( )
For lunch, went to a veg restaurant and had a fabu gigantic salad of cukes, spring greens, spinach, tomatoes, guacamole, onion, red peppers, with a tiny bit of basil/olive oil dressing. I also ordered their fruit salad, which was a large bowl of assorted fruit: strawberries, watermelon, canteloupe, apple, nectarine, grapes, blueberries, kiwi and cherries. I did share this with my friend, Dennis, and my partner, Melanie, as I was just too full from the salad!!
About 3 hrs after lunch, I had about 2 TBS of leftover date nut torte (Alissa's recipe) that was leftover, so we could wash the plate!
Two hours later, I am still not hungry, but if I do get hungry, I will fix a smoothie: either with the almond milk I just made and cocoa and banana (YUM) or a green smoothie with the above and spinach (I picked up more when I was out!)

Hi everyone! You may or may not remember me from the past. I attempted to go raw starting a little more than a year and a half ago, but never made the plunge of 100%. I continued to cling to old addictions and fears, emotional blockages, and then last October I fully ditched raw and have eaten SAD since. Very SAD. Well, I have been experiencing a plethora of health problems- honestly, I have not felt this bad physically EVER!! I have had joint pain, no energy/extreme fatigue (I used to be incredibly active!), female issues, a sore throat for three months straight, systemic candida issues...and just a general "ill flu-like" feeling for 3 months.
I went 100% raw 2 days ago and the next day I had a full blown flu- fever of102 degree, terrible sore throat, and I have felt sick since but fever is down to 99ish. But I am blowing my nose constantly- SOOO much mucous. Yuck!
I truly believe that a big contributor to me feeling this way in addition to bad eating is because I have 3 toxic root canals in my mouth plus 3 metal crowns. I am getting a total dental revision very soon. Bad dentistry is a HUGE factor in health.
So anyway, here I am! I am very committed to feeling better. I must feel better. I feel like my life force energy is draining!
I have determined I am very mycotoxic, according to Gabriel Cousens Rainbow Green Live Food cuisine, so really want to do Phase 1 of his program for the next several months. Has anyone ever done that before?
One of my biggest questions is What should I eat for breakfast when I can't have any fruit or grains? I just am grossed out thinking about eating greens, veggies for breakfast.
Does anyone have any ideas on that?
I wish everyone amazing raw blessing during the month of September!! I look forward to getting to know everyone!
Oh, and so far today, i have had:
2 Tb flax oil
green juice
carrot, beet juice (not allowed on phase 1 but just trying to clear out the fridge of non-phase 1 items)
broccoli
and soon some coconut water, coconut meat with some chia seeds
Much love to you all! Have a fab rest of the day!

Lunch-Cauli-taters & a huge salad-very filling.
Snack-carrot/apple juice

Dinner..not sure as I'm not hungry, but I made a batch of watermelon soup so I may have a cup of it.

My goals for this month
* to stay 100% Raw of course. I don't want to lose sight of that and get too sure of myself!
* wait 'til I'm hungry to eat
* juice greens six days a week
* at least just one day of simple water fasting
Those are pretty obtainable goals for my second month into this. Oh, how about
* try one new recipe a week. I do anyway!

Its interesting how accepting the challenge and setting some goals to do for the challenge really works. For example after setting the goals in my post above I did my exercise for the day (to meet my goal) and then put an E (for exercise) on the calendar for sept 1st. Goals work and so does raw food. Now I am going to go make a green juice. yeeee-haaaa

I am on day 5 today of 100% raw after falling off the August Challenge :(
I am eating pretty simply lots of bananas and salads.
This month I will attempt to up my intake of water too...
I have taken a heap of before photos so hope to one day compare them to the new me! I have been on this board since January 2005 and have been off an on raw during the whole time...still find myself at the original horrible weight level...so I am determined to stick to it now. I have compared all my photos over the last couple of years and you can definately tell when I am in the raw mode. It shows in my face especially as I have been going up and down 20 - 30 lbs depending on whether I am raw or SAD.
Time to bite the bullet!

I ate SO much more than I normally do yesterday!
I had that yummy smoothie my son made for breakfast. Then I nibbled as I was making things for the potluck. Then I had four different kinds of pizza (I think I ended up having four or five slices total). They weren't big slices, but boy were they filling! Plus eggless egg salad on onion bread. Plus eggplant parmesan. Plus some salad. Then about half an hour after everyone left. I had a choc. shake! I was so stuffed!
I'm about to have a choc. shake here in a minute. I'll post anything else later!:D

Shine72 - I am so glad to see your post about the food intake because I am concerned about some of the posts of people only eating 1 piece of fruit for breakfast, or lunch, etc. That is not enough food /energy for a meal. Please understand I am not trying to be critical - I am just very concerned. I know when I started raw several times I was not eating enough and got bored and quit. Also I got run down from not enough food/energy. Anyway...I'll get off my soap box - just being a concerned person.
Yesterday eats:
Smoothie with spirulina and banana
fruit (snack)
soup - tomatoe based with herbs and veges
green salad with o.o. and lemon; falafel; blueberry salsa
dessert - cashew butter and a piece of raw "chocolate"
exercise: 30 minutes treadmill
Today exercise:
40 minutes treadmill
Have a deliciously raw day everyone :)

i'm soo glad Day 1 is done and over with :p
the hardest day for me is always the first day.. if i keep my promise that day, then 99% of the time i keep it till the end :)
for breakfast i had 3/4 of a pineapple (shared the 1/4 of it with my mom lol), 2 kiwis, a banana, and some blackberries from my garden...
i feel so good! i've never lasted more than day on 100% raw food, and i know that things are looking good for me thanks to this september challenge:D
anyways, i was wondering what you guys do for Vitamin B12... do u worry about it at all? cuz i read this article http://rawfooddietsecrets.com/blog/12/no-such-thing-as-a-b12-deficiency/ and they say that the body produces its own vitamin B12 when it gets enough of the other stuff from raw fruits and vegetables.. does anyone agree with this??

It's night even 9am here. Foods so far:
Apple
Matt Amsden's Shake Your Money Maker breakfast drink, which I'm having trouble drinking. It tastes like chocolate cake batter! A wee bit too sweet for me, but I'm drinking it because it's full of good stuff.

Good morning all.
Lavendar,
This is the place to post the other thread you see was just to sign up for this months challenge. So you are in the right place with us girl!
Breakfast
1 Nectarine
I was going to have a mango but not perfectly ripe yet so I'll have to wait.
Lunch will be 1 apple and maybe a green salad and dinner is going to be a salad for sure.
Have a great day everyone.

Rawk - good for you for following it up with something with more consistency to it. You are not JUST eating 1 apple until lunch. You have nothing to worry about.

I'm finding when I eat raw I'm just not very hungry. Also all my craving for sweet stuff have gone away.
One piece of fruit is all I can eat for breakfast and I feel stuffed. I'm usually not hungry again till sometime in the afternoon and then I have an apple because that is easy to bring to work. If I get hungry during the day I'll also have a salad. Night time is salad for sure and that's about it. I like simple. I feel so clean and light eating this way. I'm sure at some point I will feel like eating something denser and when I do I will. I'm lucky enough to have a food co-op in town that has a raw deli so when I want something different I just go there and get what ever goodies they have that day.

Okay, I'm going to lock this one up because I don't want people who are just now coming aboard who may have missed my post to think we have two challenge threads going. This was the initial challenge thread as started by Alissa (remember all, WE (mods) will start up the threads in this section until further notice. But someone started up another one because this one had gotten started like 2 days before the first and it was mostly people saying they were in and going to participate. So, I changed the title and made it more of a "sign up sheet". But now that Sept has began, people are still welcome to join in, but instead of posting it here, just start writing in the other thread.
I also took the liberty (hope you don't mind Alissa) to do a thread each day per the suggestion of a couple of our members here, and see how that goes for this month. If all goes well and Alissa says it's okay to keep it going, then we'll try to implement this monthly...if not, then it's back to the way it was with one (extremely) long thread per month.
Those new to the challenge for this month, if you haven't already, please refer to the rules in the sticky posted up by the Admin. Thanks!

Day Two:
I didn't report yesterday as I was soooo tired at the end of the day from being in the kitchen slaving over a warm dehydrator making all kinds of stuff for me and the family and I'm STILL not done!
So, I ate mainly taste-test/sample nibbles of stuff I was making that included:
- onion bread
- Italian crackers (some with pizza sauce and cheeze dehydrated on top)
- grawnola
- sweet potatoes
- cookies
- cinnamon rolls
- ice cream
and I also ate:
- green smoothie (well, drank that)
- pineapple
- grapes (lots of grapes)
- marinated greens
- trail mix
So far for today I've only had a few grapes as I not too long ago got up. I'll try and report in later what the days events brought about...

Glad to see I'm not the only one confused about what's going on with the challenge. But it makes sense to start a new thread for each day, since so many of us are undertaking the challenge.
Did great yesterday and have some wonderful news. The past year has been so crummy that I gained about 15 pounds and went from a size 6 to a size 10. I had to buy all new jeans because the old ones weren't fitting  . So when I went back to try and do raw in Aug I periodically tried on the size 6 jeans to see how my weight was progressing. Despite my stress eating in between all raw days, the jeans were increasingly fitting, though tight in areas where I wouldn't be able to walk with them (crotch, etc.).
So this morning I decided to try them on again just to see where I'm at. They all fit great! I was really surprised that despite eating poorly on Friday, the whole week that I was raw seemed to do some good. That's really motivated me to keep at it (that and the general clear-headed, energetic feeling I'm having which I desperately need right now!)
Will post today's menu in my raw blog. But so far some watermelon and probably some strawberries later.
Forgot to post my Sept raw goals:
- To stay 100% raw (or as close as I can) for 30 days
- To exercise every day at least for 30 minutes
- To do yoga at home at least 3 days a week
- To keep up with my counseling appointments to work on some issues
- To stay positive even when things are going badly!

Hey, I'm a bit confused! The Sept challenge thread I posed to yesterday seems to be closed. Is there just going to be a daily thread for the challenge then?...
Yeah, we're gonna try that out and see how it works out
Got my exercise out of the way earlier today. So that makes me happy. Now I am hungry and need some energy. I made Alissa's marinara sauce yesterday and think I will put it over some mixed bell peppers for lunch. I also froze a batch because I had so many tomatoes. I think I will grab that right now to eat as I am hungry!

I had a GREAT day today! 100% raw and feeling fine. I LOVED the mock salmon pate and ate it for lunch and dinner. One day at a time. That is my mantra. That, and, IT'S ONLY FOOD! If I'm tempted I just tell myself it's only food, and if I really want it I can eat it next month. It's all a mind game. I'm a runner and it's like running a marathon. Just one big mind game. Hopefully the longer I do this the more my body will just want to do it and thrive on it and then the mind will just be synchronized and at peace w/ my body. Make sense?
Have a great night everyone. See ya tomorrow for day #3!!!!!

So here's today's food:
I had a fruit and greens smoothie for breakfast.
3 peaches
I made some recipes from Ani Phyo's book: portabella steaks, brazil brocoli mash and mushroom gravy (all pretty rich food if you ask me, but tastey).
3 oranges
Lots of water.
I am decaffeinating big time and do I have a whopper of a headache! I'm planning to get to bed early and get some quality rest.

Breakfast: Green smoothie -- 2 bananas, 6 strawberries, kale, half avocado, almond mylk, coconut oil. Yummers!
Snack: handful of raw macademia nuts
Lunch: Salad -- Spinach, romaine lettuce, tomato, basil, drizzle EVOO.
Dinner: Half of a nice, cold watermelon. That's what I was craving after working in the yard all afternoon, so I just went with it. LOL.

1cup of oats (soaked) blended with 1 banana and almond butter with cinnamon on top (Gold Mine sells oats labeled as 'raw')
Alissa's Broccoli soup (added dash Braggs and ginger to it) + 1 falafel
1 nectarine (unfortunately it was terrible - what a disappointment)
small salad of greens, green olvies, oo + lemon and sea salt
2 falafel + 1 yellow tomatoe
Contemplating a small dessert - need something with chocolate - not sure yet

I had a great Raw day. :) Actually Day 8 here for me
Breakfast-Pinapple/raspberrie smoothie
usually I have 2 green smoothies, but I was soooo craving a salad that I had a salad early in the day with Alissa's jalepena olives & vinegar & evoo & tomatoes & hemp seeds. Must have missed the greens from my usual green smoothie.
had 1 orange/goji berrie truffle
Lunch-made eggless egg salad with diced red peppers/celery & scallions & put it on a bed of greens. Also a few carrot sticks & some strawberries.
Dinner was a blowl of avo/cuke/kale soup with lemon, cayenne, curry, dill, sea salt & pepper.
Also walked first thing this morning for 45 minutes. I'll report that in the fitness thread~unless I already have..I dont' know anymore as the days are starting to run together...LOL;)

Raw is tops as we head into September!
We went to the farmer's market yesterday and got our fill of tasty tomatos.
Our weekends are laid back with lots of fruit lying around the house. It is so nice and tasty to pick up ripe fruit and suck and drip juice. Avocados have rippened around the house today as well - they go exceptionally well with those ripe tomatos.
Tomorrow we go out of town to visit my mom. It is so easy to pack for being out of the house now - throw some fruit in the car and we are off.
Rawk on!

Okay, I already said I had a choc. shake this morning. Then this afternoon I had a salad at lunch time!
Well..... I made the "Super Candy" that's posted in the recipe section. It's GOOD! I am going to tweak it some to make it a bit more to my liking the next time I make it. It does some funny stuff though! Made my eyes feel really weird, but in a good way.
I had a little bit of mango when we got home from the movies tonight. Can I just tell ya'll, the smell of movie theater popcorn is REALLY gross! I don't remember it being that gross!:D So that was cool!;)
I'm in the mood for another salad, but I don't really feel like making one right now, so I may or may not have one of those.

Today is almost over for me and it was a great raw day! I did some more food prep making: the "deviled" eggless spread, strawberry ice cream, Alissa's tortillas, and kale chips.
So, today I've eaten:
Grapes
onion bread
onion bread topped with eggless spread
cinnamon roll
Green smoothie
Strawberry-banana ice cream
A couple of dates stuffed with cashews
A bowl of grawnola in nut milk
I didn't mention, my little brother (14) moved here with us last week. This is a kid who claims to dislike ALL fruit except bananas (and since he's been here, I have yet to see him peel and eat a banana). At first, I was somewhat catering to his "cooked food needs" but then realized it was only starting to sabotage the progress I was making with my family in terms of being raw. Soooo...I decided that the kid lives here, he's now a part of my family and therefore he will eat raw. So, I've been in that kitchen more than I've EVER been since being raw making all kinds of stuff and thankfully, he's been trying it out and finding things he actually likes! So, I'm starting there and HOPEFULLY he will begin to desire fruit and veggies as his body gets cleaner from no longer eating cooked food.
So far he has liked: onion bread, Italian crackers, vanilla ice cream, peanut butter cookies (yes, I used organic peanut butter that isn't raw, but the cookies themselves are unbaked/"raw"), kale chips (he LOVES those) and smoothies as long as they're semi-frozen. So, we're coming along. He has some weight to lose and he has asthma so I'm looking forward to the improvements he will experience!
=======
OH...and just a quick reminder, please remember that in accordance with the new challenge guidelines we won't be mentioning our "slip-ups" with cooked food here in the challenge threads. Just keep on going and sticking with raw from then on out! Thanks guys!

Breakfast: Raw Oatmeal
Lunch: Big glass of pina colada (made with coconut, pineapple, banana and almond milk and ice) This was sinfully good!
Another Lunch: Eggless deviled Egg Spread in celery Chuck could not get over how good this stuff is! It is so wonderful Do try the recipe if you haven't yet.
Went to Huntsville State Park and took the kids swimming at the lake. We all went swimming and had a great time. Before we went home, we had a picnic with apples, grapes, eggless egg spread with celery and mushroom caps. Was a very good day. We were all exhausted when we got home but it was so worth it! And no spideys on this trip!
Hey, does the swimming count as part of my exercise today?!!! Huh huh huh??
I have to tell you that earlier I was feeling weak with cravings but I thought about y'all and was strong. I didn't want to have to report that I had been bad and eaten some old SAD food. Thanks for being there to keep me accountable.

Mornin' RAWbies!!!
I just got in from working a flight to Los Angeles...happy to say, still RAW BABY!!! I did great on my trip!!! I am more committed than EVER to stick to RAW!!! I did not eat ANY of the dead animal flesh on board! YEA!!! I nibbled on Grapes, Onion Bread, Flax Crackers, Oranges and Celery Sticks!!! Everyone kept asking me why I bring food with me... :) Of course, I was more than happy to tell them about the RAW diet!!!
A really gross thing happened this morning...one of the other flight attendants let loose a seriously fowl smelling "bomb" in the galley!!! YUK!!! PEE-UUUU!!!! STINKY, STINKY!!!! I told her..."You know, when you eat RAW, your gas doesn't smell like that!!!" ...needless to say, she wasn't real happy with me after that, but oh well!!! It's totally true!!!

Have a great day on raw today everyone. I've been invited to a friend's for lunch but I think I'll decline since I don't feel ready to be invited to a SAD lunch party quite yet.
I'm starting the day with a gs made of kale, mango, almond milk, flax, and hemp protein. My 6yo enjoyed a glass with me. We also both ate a banana. Plus my dad passed this June and I wanted to make sure my mom is not alone so she can be with us. My husband has been perfecting his BBQ's EVERY weekend. Last night was tough - but I did not succumb at all! Even though I was unusually hungry yesterday. I am looking forward to another raw day. Hello -
I'm new. Just starting my 30 day challenge today, I'm afraid. I train horses for a living but also want to do 30 mins. cardio and 30 mins. weight training on my Bowflex every other day. Do you guys do your workouts on an empty stomach? I've heard both ways: eat/don't eat before workouts. What's the concensus?
Also - I'm trying to limit my cravings so I'm eating lots of nuts (cashews) to start out. A) Shouldn't they be soaked first? and B) Is it bad to eat lots of nuts? I've seen other posts where people are trying to go completely nut-less and dried fruit-less. I'll probably put away 2 cups of cashews a day until I'm "over it". Will that slow down my weight loss? The rest of my day is big salads and fresh fruit (not together), flax seed crackers, dehydrated potato chips, guacamole, salsa.
Are olives bad? I guess marinated artichoke hearts are cooked, right? What's up with me, that I'm craving those things? Is is the olive oil I want?
Can someone tell me their experiences with taking enzyme capsules after eating heavy/cooked meals? Does it help? I bought a bottle from GNC yesterday and had a couple after a SAD dinner. Got gas real bad. :o
Thanks in advance for your support; sorry for all the questions!

I don't have any picnic plans today so I will probably go to Whole Foods today and pickup a a raw pizza for dinner. Have a rawtastic day everyone!!!!!:)

Hi Raindeer! Ok, I'll try to help you out, although, everyone has their own opinions about things, so this is only mine! As far as eating before a workout....I usually have a piece of fruit about 30min. before....but that's just me...and then have a smoothie with protein powder afterwards to help with recovery. I'm one of those who are cutting out nuts for the month (or trying!)....when I first started, I overate them, and ended up gaining weight...but that's not true of everyone....depending on how much you have to lose, and what your diet was like before, eating more fat may HELP you lose weight.....it's a process....just eat what you want, as long as it's raw,and if you find you're gaining weight, then tweak your diet. As far as soaking, it just helps activate the enzymes in the nuts, and also, some find that soaking them first helps in digestion. You can get raw olives....the ones in the grocery store are not raw. Generally, the thought is that if it doesn't say raw on the package, assume it isn't. Artichoke hearts are cooked:( I love them too, and am very sad about that! I myself take 3 enzyme capsules a day....one before each meal.....I haven't had any problems with them thus far. Hope this helps!

A fresh new day and feeling great. Started the day with a yound coconut (need to find a use for all the insides, now). This seems to have very easily replaced my former morning decaf.
Polished off the eggless spread last night. Very tasty stuff. Am craving a mixed green salad today and want some avocados in something--one of my favorite things.
Happy and rawlicious Labor Day to everyone.

hello! i'm enjoying the third raw day! except for my cold, my nose doesn't feel all that great- what to do!? i don't want to take any pills :S
uh other than that, i had a great "broccoli & bacon" salad (with sunflower seeds and raisins mmm
Hello everyone, this morning I just drank water, don't really want anything else. The little dog took me for a good long walk.
GlimR, you and I must have both started back 100% Friday before last. You are doing great and that 7 lb down is a good bonus huh?
Had bloating and gas all night from the flaxburger in the pasta sauce I made for dinner last night. It sure did taste good at the time though. I took a picture that really didn't do it justice. It was beautiful, substantial, and full of flavor. I’ll have to look into a burger mix without flax.
I'm going in a few minutes to get some lemons so I can make some more potato chips. The last ones were so good. The lemon, olive oil, salt, potato flavor all mixed together reminded me of buttered baked potato in a chip. I definitely want to have a large baggie of these on hand for when cravings hit.
Also I really need to get to one of the larger cities to get a variety of raw nuts and seeds to make ahead some other recipes as craving satisfiers. I'm down to a few almonds and that's it.
Teri :)

Hello everyone! Today is going well. I discovered that I simply LOVE Alissa's Tortillas made into tortilla chips! I spread it (the "batter") thin on the teflex and then after they were flipped and cut, I dried them until crunchy. I seasoned them with some chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, etc. and they are da BOMB! My kids and my dh are lovin' 'em. My youngest daughter was eating the plain ones with salsa (not raw, it was a jar I bought when my lil' brother first came here) and she said it's just like eating the "regular" tortilla chips.
So we're happy campers 'cause chips are a major downfall for ALL of us in this household and now we are satisfied in that department!
Aside from munching on tortilla chips, I also had so far today:
a bowl of grawnola with sliced bananas in nut-seed milk
half a banana
cup of green smoothie that also had some maca and cacao in it
a strawberry
a bite of my son's strawberry-banana ice cream
Thank you for the well-wishes with my brother, Hawaiigal!

Hello all! Well, today is day one for me......so far so good! I actually worked out today for the first time in a verrrrry long time....it felt good afterwards, but during I thought I was going to die! As far as food goes, being Labour Day and all, I woke up late, so had lunch for breakfast.....Alissa's kale salad....and after my work out, I had a smoothie with banana, papaya, spirulina, hemp powder, maca and flax. Not sure what I'm going to have for dinner...I made lasagna yesterday, but I'm not sure if I even want it.....I haven't really been all that hungry. Anyway, I'll figure it out! Have a great day everyone!

Good day to you lovelies.
Today went very well. I have noticed my mood improving and energy up. My skin is already clearing up. My body is so happy with me.
The other day I was talking to my daughter about going back on raw and she told me that that was great and she thinks I will just have to do raw for the rest of my life. Well, out of the mouths of babes. Also, my dh took my older 2 kids camping and evidently, as they spied various animals, they were remarking on how raw each animal ate. After dh told me this, the kids and I were talking about it around the dinner table. They were amazed when I informed them that actually, humans are the ONLY animals that cook their food. So sweet!
Today's diet:
3 bananas and romaine smoothie
sliced tomato with eggplant "bacon" roll-ups
olives and tomato
kombucha drink
strawberries dipped in chocolate pudding
milkshake made with choco-pudding blended with ice
napa cabbage/carrot/tomato salad
ohhh, yeah. Life is so good!!
lodestar, I love the quote in your sig line.
Riiiya, your salad sounds good. I just saw the recipe for that a few days ago. Hmmm ... may be making that soon.
Rawkie, I'd often thought of using Alissa's enchilada wrap for chips. I'll have to look up her tortilla recipe. A bag of SAD was staring me in the face earlier next to the produce. Boy, they're putting those displays in strange places now. Don't remember them being in produce before. So I walked straight to the bin of corn and got some. Got distracted after getting home filling the dehydrator with potato chips. Think I'll get up and go start some kind of spicy triangular corn chip.
Been drinking water all day. Had several mild catastrophes in the family today. Ya know the kind that make one want to grab something and stuff the feelings down. Did eat a few of the thinnest chips that were mostly dry. Stifled the urge to drive to the local this or that. Drank some water. Breathed.
So that's all I've eaten today.

Wow, it amazes me how full this thread already is by the time I get to it - guess I should try and post earlier :D.
I'll start posting my menus here since this is where everyone does it and I get so many inspirations.
Yesterday's menu:
Watermelon
Pum
Grapes
Cabbage, red pepper and green onion with asian tahina dressing (basically tahina with a touch of honey and asian spices)
Dried apricots
apple
tomatoes, celery and broccoli with apple cider vinegar and braggs and spices (I've been trying to eat raw veggies in the evening without adding fat, which is tough, since I've always had the mentality that raw veggies = salad = oil-based dressing. I've tried using just lemon juice but that's too unexciting for me. I love vinegar and the ACV/braggs combo is great. I know braggs isn't technically raw, but I use only a dash of it for flavor)
Mango (this has been one of the great benefits of going raw - I used to ration my intake of mango, probably fed by the idea that it has a lot of sugar - now I eat the whole mango!)
Dried cherries
Today's menu:
Watermelon
Banana
Strawberries
Romaine, celery, and green onion with guacamole dressing
Pineapple
Mushrooms, green pepper, and carrots with ACV/Braggs and spices
Dried mango
raw fudge
Forgot to add that I'm getting exercise in. Yesterday I did some pilates and resistance band exercises, as well as walked to the univ and back (30 minutes each way). Also got some yoga in. Today I got the walk in but I had a late start and plenty of homework to finish so I don't think I'll get to yoga today.
Sounds as if everyone is doing great!

Hi SoulSistaRaw-
I am in CT too! Right by the Cainos... Is the Hartford CT Whole Foods the one that has the raw pizza? Do they have a whole raw section or deli or something? I usually go to the Providence RI Whole Foods because the traffic is less but I will drive to Hartford if they have raw stuff! That would be great. Do you know if there are any rawpotlucks around in the CT area? I would love to meet some more raw people.
Thanks for the info!:)

It seems pretty common. It really depends on the individual and what kind of diet they're coming from, methinks.
I don't lose weight when I'm raw & I have a bit to lose.
