Hey everyone - had a crazy few days, but am here. I'm still 100% raw - am trying to get more green smoothies in. For some reason, I get lazy & just don't make them... argh!

Well, I have some good news - my dh is officially employed after 2 years of unemployment! The whole family is rejoicing :D I'll feel a lot less guilty spending the money on raw food now that we'll actually be having a paycheck! I'm going to be tutoring too to help supplement since his new job doesn't pay as much as his old one did... It's a good fit for me after being a math teacher & then homeschooling my dc for the past 16 yrs. I'd love to figure out a way to make money from my raw food obsession!

OK - today's food choices.

Breakfast: flax cracker with almond butter & a date
Lunch: Big salad with avo, sunflower seeds, raisins & tahini dressing from Serene Alison's raw cookbook.

Have a wonderful rest of the day raw!

GlimR - I know exactly how you are feleling. This week I have been VERY moody and irritable - also craving booze and cooked meat (hamburger). Did not cave, thank God, but I still know how it feels - kind of anzy like you need a 'hit' of something.

I need to confess to all you dear ones - I did go on the scale after all. I was looking for some inspiration/motivation since I have been 14 days raw. And with 75 pounds to lose (when I started initially) I thought I would see a big number change. I have only lost 3 pounds in 14 days. I know, I know it is better off than on and Thank God for something. But I cannot help feeling really insulted and down about it. I have a LONG way to go. And I have really done well as far as the food and movement is concerned. Plus I have been having alot of having to run to the bathroom after eating (I wanted to say it as politely as I could) and I thought for sure since I am not keeping it in very long I must be losing quickly and more.

I will say that my typical behavior would have caused me to quit right there and then, but I must go on. There is no other path for me. I know that raw is the way to go - the ONLY way for me. I just need some positives to happen. I hope I have not discouraged anyone - I do not mean to do that at all. It is just my 'humaness' and sometimes things get really tough.

My plan is to keep going on. Drink more water every day, move a little more every day and see what happens.

Thanks for 'listening'. Onward and upward...

Yeshia & Beppa 66 - congrats on your weight loss this far. You guys RAWK!

Vegan Princess - thanks for the recipe I can't wait to try it!

Rawdemption - Yeah! I am rejoicing with you! I know how hard it is to have a husband that is out of work for so long. We went through those dry spells ourselves. Thank God! He is Good!:D

Rawjewlerylady - Hang in there! I know it is hard. My schedule is so crazy right now too. Have had little time to blog! I am so swamped right now that I can barley breathe! Also remember that eating raw food is what enables us to have energy to get it all done!

Rawfigure - thanks

Raspberry4 - hang in there kiddo! And remember 3 pounds is a lot of weight to lose. I know it is difficult but be patient. Just trust the process and keep on keeping on. Your body will respond eventually. 3 pounds here and 3 pounds there - it all adds up! I understand your struggle - I really do but these are the times when we don't see the results to just keep being faithful. Also if you are not exercising already you need to add it in. IF you are, maybe could up the amount slightly. The main thing is stay here with us as you need to keep staying focused! Just think about how far you have come and be proud of what you have already accomplished! You already have lost a small person!:D

And , BTW...I feel the same way as you, Raw is keeping me going through all the chaos!

Raspberry4~about the scale..try using the *pants-o-meter..are your pants feeling looser? That's the true test..not the scale. I know it's tough, but my scale was moving alot at first, but then my pants are getting looser MUCH faster !

Rawdemption~congrats on the DH !

I had a GREAt Raw day.

Food was green smoothies, corn salad on greens, peach, truffle, & lava soup loaded down with greens. I may still have a few strawberries.

Yes, God is very good! I honestly am thankful for this season - God transformed my life & taught me so much about trusting Him! Being raw really helped, too! I was really struggling with depression before switching over - now, it's just not an issue!

Missed a couple days checking in--what a crazy hectic week. Could have easily been cloned and still busy.

Have absolutely adored my green smoothies the last couple days. My usual green of choic has been spinach but I switched over to collards and flat leaf parsley and really liking it. Anyway, my energy is staying up and my attitude right along with it. When stress starts in because of deadlines, etc., I have really responded differently lately (haven't hit up the pastries and chocolate). More thankful and happier about things and more grounded I guess.

Salads, world's greatest meatloaf and a batch of mixed veggie soup have been keeping me satisfied and happy. Shared the greatest meatloaf (included a packet with some washed collard leaves and a nice avo) with a mom at work whose son wanted desperately to try raw. They both enjoyed it wrapped in collard leaves. She came back and told me that they both gave it a thumbs up. Good for them.

Yeshia--CONGRATULATIONS! Awsome. You will so enjoy the dehydrator--so many recipes; so little time. Look forward to hearing what you make.

GlimR--My feelings were so in line with what you were going through. Seemed to have turned a little corner and lifted a thanks of gratitude. When I get bogged, I try being thankful for things going through the alphabet--can't help but feel better about halfway through. You are such an inspiration--my thoughts are with you.

Raspberry4--Three pounds is great! Saw your stats listed and all I could think of is WOW, she is really on track and making progress. Agree with others to use your pants to determine. Have only shifted about five pounds overall, but my clothes are fitting so much better and people who see me all the time and less often have all been commenting that I look skinnier, happier, etc.--nice to hear.

Hello, everyone!

Well, I've blown it a couple of times since starting, but I think I look a lot better. I've lost 7 lbs. so far, but haven't been working out like I should be. Do you guys find the weight loss really gets going once you're working out? I set a goal to be 7 lbs. lighter than I am now in two weeks. Any suggestions?

I haven't gone completely organic though, so is that why I don't feel as good as I did last time, when I was 100% organic? Is there really that big a difference when you go organic?

I'm still sticking with mostly green smoothies and huge salads. Very few nuts and not a whole lot of fresh fruit, other than watermelon. :)

Have a great day!

Working out will increase your fat loss but if you add muscle due to the work outs it will not show as much loss on the scales. Some cardio can increase muscle too.

Good morning all!! I have had a great past 14 days....and I am looking forward to the next 14....and the next, and the next!!

I am not finding the weight just melting off.....even more incentive to kick my rear and get back to the "Y"!!! I have a goal to get to the gym 3 days a week and do yoga 3-4 days a week. I know it will help speed up my metabolism!! I really need it!

Yesterday's food:
barleymax
detox tea
green smoothie for lunch
green smoothie for dinner

I need to get some coconut oil (I'm OUT:o ) and some more kelp, last time I bought kelp granules, but this time I think I will get the powder to add to my smoothies....

Today I plan to have:
barleymax
tea
smoothies all day.....YUMMY!!! I NEED MORE GREENS!!!

Take care,
Wendi

Thank you for all the support. You are all an inspiration to me. It has been a really difficult time lately and I guess I just freaked out with the low weight loss which seemed to be the last straw.

However, today I am re-committed. I am so proud of myself that I have not taken ONE BITE of anything SAD. That is huge for me. I am getting better.

My husband and son mentioned that my pants are bigger and my face looks thinner so at least they are noticing. Look for the 'good' things, not just the darn scale weight. You know that thing really is a steel monster!

I feel so happy to be on this thread with all of you wonderful people. This could not have come at a better time for me.

Goals for today:
Eat 100% raw
Movement - at least 30 minutes
Accomplish at least 1/2 of my to do list
Stay positive
:)

I don't know if this'll help some of you or not. When I first went raw, I was weighing every day. Just because the weight WAS coming off so fast that I was amazed by it and just had to watch. Kinda like a favorite tv show or something.

Well, here I am almost 9 months later. The weight is still coming off, but at a slower, more steady pace. And my body does this thing now where it'll drop, go up a little, go back down to where it was at the drop, and then hold for a little. Then it starts that all over again. I'm not really upset or frustrated by it or anything. It's just making weekly weigh-ins that I've been doing kind of pointless. So the conclusion I've come to is this. I'm going to weigh this coming Monday like I normally do, but after that, I'm going to monthly weigh-ins instead of weekly.

Why you ask? Well, it'll give me a more accurate picture. I have NOT tweaked or really paid hard attention to anything I've eaten this whole time I've been raw. And I think the monthly will give me a better idea of if I truly need to tweak or not. If I'm still losing (which I am), then I don't see a point in tweaking or paying attention. I know I get variety right now, I know I'm satisfied, and I know I don't feel deprived. Continuing to lose that way, why on earth would I WANT to tweak it?!;)

Don't know if that helped any of you. I'm hoping it did. I know that even when the scale doesn't move, my clothes have, so I'm not sweating it. Hope the rest of you will try not sweating it too!:D

Shine: Thank you for sharing!! The same thing has happened to me!! My weight dropped drastically the first 10 days...I lost 7 lbs. Then, it seemed this week, my weight has not dropped at all!! I guess over the next week or so, with added movement (exercise) I know my body will continue to heal. I also think I get in a slump of not eating enough!! I guess I get busy, don't fix a smoothie (or salad or something) and I might snack on a handful of nuts, which probably adds just alittle too much fat into my diet.......I'm going to work on adding a variety of veggies....

Thanks again SHINE!!

Hello everybody. I just got home from watching my DH compete in his first triathalon. It was very fun and exciting. Tomorrow I am hosting a baby-shower for a dear friend. 30 people are coming and I have a lot of work to do so thank goodness I have been eating raw. It makes my clarity and work go a great deal more smoothly. It has been funny how many times, since getting back on a raw diet, I have met people who are very interested and want to know more about raw foods. I guess I really have to think about teaching soon.

It is really great hearing all of your stories and successes. Go raw people!!

I don't really know what emotional detox is....but I have been a mess these last two days.....went out to breakfast with DH....ended up sitting there bawling my eyes out.....yikes! Nothing he said or did, he is as sweet as they come.

I'm ok...I'm 100% raw...did not, will not cave to emotional eating. I hope whatever this is passes soon cause I have been so high on raw and this last week has been a little rough emotionally. All things in their time..yah, yah, yah.....

1 pear
It's 4 o'clock in the afternoon...guess I need to eat something else....am going to make my newest really good thing.......

Just made a batch of zucchini fettucine noodles and marinara sauce. Still not a fav dish of mine but it was okay. I wanted to use up a zucchini!

Also had dried strawberries, bananas, and apples. So delicious!

I'm staying off the scales this month too, my weight is higher than last summer and I think it is because I added weight training to my exercise schedule. So that is okay, I'll just use my Pant-o-meter too!

I know exactly what you mean. I used to do weekly weighins too and realized that the closer I get to my goal weight the harder it is too lose weight. So I go down a bit and then back up a bit and so on and so on. I think as long as we are living the lifestyle the weight will eventually come off. We didn't put it on overnight so really what is the hurry. But I feel like we do put a little too much emphasis on weight and the scale. There is so much better things to guage our success by Like mesurements and how our clothes look on us. I just recently have tried to get away from the scale but it is so hard. Our biggest reward should be how we feel eating this way - our overall health etc.

Hey everyone - quick check in here. I've had a good day raw. Got up & had a flax cracker with almond butter & a date. Had fruit for snacks & then a salad for lunch & dinner. No green smoothie today, but got a lot greens in! I was actually tempted this morning a little bit - I had a homeschool support group meeting & they served a macaroni salad - it smelled really good :o , but I stuck to my fruit & made it home OK. The meeting was really encouraging & worth attending, though!

Wanted to say I agree with Sunshine 100% on not weighing so often. I've lost about 63 lbs & am just not losing as quickly anymore. So, I've found taking the focus off the scale has really brought incredible freedom.

Well, have a great raw day! actually night!

Had a busy but very good day today. Started out with my newest green smoothie (collards, flat leaf parsley and Romaine) with lots of different frozen fruits. Was really green this morning. My roomate has a nasty cold/sinus thing going on and I offered her some--she liked it! I love it and feel so much more energized than I ever did on coffee--even Starbucks.

Picked up some more frozen organic blueberries, black cherries and baby greenws for smoothies this week. Salads still the easiest thing to keep me on track. Avocados are a nice snack in between when I need the energy to get through the morning or afternoon. Just adore them.

Good to see everyone doing so well.

Hello and good morning. I am running around getting ready for a party at my house.

So, my DH and I are having a wierd thing happen. Mind you, this is only us, not my gran or our kids. Whenever I eat something, I have an aftertase that is very bitter, like soap, that stays all day. I have been all raw, and my husband partially. Has anyone else ever had this experience? We don't think it is the water as it would then be happening to the whole family. I have also licked the dishes (how fun!) to see if there is a soap residue on them and there is not. Wierd, wierd, wierd.

Anyway, today I might eat:
watermelon/spinach smoothie
gazpacho
guac and corn chips
salad

Have a lovely raw day!

Good morning everyone - well, afternoon for those on the east coast.

Looking forward to another good raw day. Planning on having a green smoothie for breakfast & not sure about the rest of the day. I'd like to get some onion bread in the dehydrator, too. I haven't been drinking enough water & I can really feel it this morning... so it's time to increase the water intake!

Today, I'm going to be planning out 2 weeks of meals for my family & I will include raw recipes - I think I'll enjoy raw more as I make a better variety of foods.

Have a great raw day everyone.

Having agreat day...Happy Sunday all~:) Whatever was going on yesterday has lifted and I am doing fine. DH wanted to go out to breakfast and the only thing I can get in the place we go is a banana...so I bring other fruit and make myself a fruit plate...after convincing the waiter that all I REALLY wanted was a banana and a plate we waited...when the food finally came out he aplogized profusly saying there wasn't a banana to be found anywhere...could he bring me some fried apples..I smiled very sweetly and said no..no problem at all, I'll just eat this orange I brought......he did not think that was going to be enough and wanted to bring me something else...but they really HAVE nothing else...I said no, no problem at all...I only eat raw food...he said oh...we really don't have anything else. He kept coming back and asking me if I was ok...sure he couldn't get me anything???
You know what...I was so happy they didn't have anything!!!:D I was so happy I didn't care!!! I was so happy that I was not resentful or that I didn't feel deptived at all!! So gosh dern happy!! *hee* *hee*.......ok...feeling more like it today.
My son Josh is getting married next September...I figure I will be at or very close to my ideal weight by then and glowing with health, vitality and raw, natural light and beauty. I can hardly wait to dance that dance with him....here's a link to the dress I am going to buy~

I forgot just how good strawberry ice cream is!:D That's what I had for lunch. So did the kids! We LOVE our ice cream!:D I just hadn't made it in a while. Think I'll have a salad for dinner. I want to make Super Candy tonight with some modifications. If I'm not too tired, I'll do that too!:D

Huge smoothie I've been working on all containing... banana, dates, strawberries, flaxseeds, cinnamon, whole head of romaine, lots of kale. Yum!!

Nibbled all day on Eggless Salad, Store Bought Potato Chips, date-nut balls, avocado and tomato (as a guacamole salad!), and tonight will be some banana ice cream as the bananas are in the freezer right now.

I love the dress too!! The moss green is so pretty, but then all the colors are and it looks so different depending on which color it is in!

I talked to my future daughter in law , who btw, does NOT know I am doing raw...she has to set a date w/ the caterer to taste all the foods and the cakes and sugested she does that the weekend I am there in Oct...arghhhhhhhhhhhhh...will call her tomorrow to suggest she picks a different date....no....no.......noooooooo...can't taste any of that!!! I am bound and determined to do this once and for always~

Cinnamon, that smoothie sounds good.

Well, still all raw. Day 50 for me, or there abouts. I really SHOULD calculate that.

For simplicities sake, I'll just go along with the day Sixteen.

Nothing to eat today except for some figs. Not hungry in the least.

OK ~Day 23 here & doing great. Feeling tired as I've been working a lot & I''ve been up pretty late. I think I'll take a quick nap..

Foods so far are~2 green smoothies
*Nacho/salad*~bed of greens with cuke slices & celery topped with Alissa's American cheese (not dehydrated) /my home-made salsa & some guac. Also had 1 flax cracker & a truffle.

Stomach is rumbling a little as avo & nuts don't mix well with me but I do like the taste.

Until later, RJL

G'day all! I've been doing great.....still 100%....woot! I haven't been hungry lately. Everytime I go to eat dinner, I make it, and eat maybe a few veggies, and a little dip, but nothing like I used to. I'm wondering if it's going to stay like this, or if this is just a phase. I also started working out again this week, and thought I'd be hungrier, but it's the reverse! I was at a friend's house, and she has a juicer......oh my, I had the most delicious juice! It had apple, carrots, a little lemon, and orange. WOW! Taste explosion! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v712/wildeanne/smilies/32528c68.gif

rawmom
09-17-2007, 05:46 AM
I had an extremely busy weekend-my boys had football/soccer games and then one of my boys was on a baseball team (travel team) for next year and the team dissolved late last week. That sent us scrambling to find some tryouts for him which took place over this weekend (all day Saturday and all day Sunday)-we were running all over this weekend-and sad to say, I didn't stay raw:( -and boy could I tell! I knew I was feeling good eating this way, but didn't realize HOW uncomfortable I had been feeling when I wasn't eating raw. I'm thinking I need some plan ahead foods for times such as these-although they don't occur often, they still can happen and I want to be prepared next time. Thinking along the lines of some crackers, granola-something more than fruit. That brings me to a question, where do you purchase the golden flax seeds? In my area, I have only been able to locate brown.

My food plan for today-green smoothie for breakfast, veggie salad with dressing for lunch (probably same for dinner) with as much fruit in between as I want!!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

I had three in sports at one time and it really can get crazy! My HFS has the golden flax seeds but I always use the regular ones for crackers and they are great to me. Granola is a great snack to take with you...you can add whatever flavorings, additions to it to suit your taste. The last one I made I dried a very long time and it's like eating oatmeal cookies. I bring rawito crackers with me when I need something on hand...make trail mix. Cut up veggies and fruit do travel well if you put them in a little cooler w/ an ice pack.
You just have to find what works for you.

I had a great day yesterday...the mully grubs seem to have lifted and I am back to that great raw high again. Will post food later.lemon juice and water so far....maybe I'll eat a watermelon!!!:D
Hope everyone has a wonderful Monday~

On a side note, I will NOT being weighing weekly from this point forward. It'll be more like monthly. On December 27th I will weigh again (even though that won't be a month after the weigh-in for December), just so I can see exactly where I am at the year mark. Right now it's more my clothes fitting different than the scale moving so much. So that is no longer new and exciting for me. I have added working out into the mix, so I KNOW that has skewed the scale a bit too. I am very happy with this decision! :D

I hope everyone has a GREAT raw day! :D Keep up the great work everyone!:D

Hey all!! I had like, no time to post this weekend. I didn't realize how busy we were!!

I've stayed raw....this is day 17 for me!!! I haven't been raw this long in a LLOONNNNG time!! I think the last time I was 100% for any REAL length of time, was maybe, APRIL!! Since then, it was on, off, on, off.

I sure hope I can plan something GREAT for food today. So far, I've had herbal tea, a small handful of walnuts. I'm hungry, and I need to make something. Just not sure what I want. WHAT DO YOU EAT WHEN YOU JUST DON'T HAVE A CRAVING FOR ANYTHING???? Know what I mean??? I want somthing GOOD, I'm just not sure what IT is???!!! I bet it's something that I don't have in the house....you know, my experience is, when I'm not wanting anything in the house, it's because I don't have the right food available. When I get to go back to the store, I will SEE what it is that I really wanted....

Oh well....I guess I will make a smoothie...that's a great start anyway. At least I know it will be FULL of great stuff, to nourish my body!!

I'm loving raw, not wanting to go back to JUNK like I usually do BEFORE this time!!

Take care all...

Wendy, maybe you can wait until you do know what your wanting to eat. Maybe your body is thinking right now. Give it some time to think of what it wants. When it tells your brain, they YOU'LL know!:) This is what I do.

Or, maybe your just not hungry enough, and so your body is trying to tell you not to eat.

I cannot believe that I am not hungry. I am following Alissa's suggested 30 day diet from the book. The recipes really are yummy.

I do sort of want something warm. I have learned to leave my vegetables out on the counter instead of putting them in the fridge. This makes the flavors come out more and they are not cold. The collard wrap is really good. I had that for the first time today.

I have skipped ahead and tried to make chips in the dehydrator. I made the vinegar and salt chips way too salty. Any suggestions?

Hi all,

Had a huge green smoothie this morning--drank all of it on the way to the vanpool. Cannot believe how awsome I feel starting the day this way. My thinking is getting so much clearer--my sadness (slight depression) has also become much more background--days have much more happiness now.

Brought some awsome organic cherry tomatoes and a perfect avo for lunch. Getting a little break from mixed greens salad today. Carrot ginger soup is tonights easy menu for dinner since I really want to make Russell's new tart recipe, which will be lunch or dinner tomorrow. If I could figure out how to post a pic, would probably take a couple. Anyone know of instructions here to guide me "how to"?

I use Randolyn's granola recipe......last time I doubled it and used coconut butter for almond in the second half....it was wet as could be but when it dried it was awesome..very crunchy!!

This is from a post by Randolyn....

"1 cup each Oat groats, almonds, sunflower seeds and walnuts soaked over night in a seperate bowl mix together 1/2 cup almond butter & 1/2 cup agave necter & 1 apple pureed and cinnamon to taste. Mix well with your grouts
and nut mixture. Dehydrate until you get the desired dryness you want. Then add raisins or chopped dates. Store in air tight container in the fridge."

GlimR,

Another early bird here. Enjoying my green smoothie as I type. Since I've picked up the pace on the green smoothies, have really noticed an improvement in myself. Energized but also more grounded--if that makes sense. Just feeling happier these days.

Started making Russell's Fennel & Cherry Tomato Balsamic Tart with Macadamia Cheese. Needs more time in the dehydrator when I get home tonight but so far it looks awsome and the tart crust is very tasty. Haven't put much time into complex dishes like this for awhile and needed to shake it up a bit for a nice treat. Needed a pamper I guess.

I do a weekly weigh in and have not lost any additional but feeling better and the "pants-o-meter" indicates my body is shifting in the right direction.

Today it is back to easy to take to work salad with cut up veggies. Dinner may be the tart if it gets done enough.

Hope everyone has a rawlicious day!

Good morning!
{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}} GLIMR!!! You are such an inspiration to me. Noticing that in the beginning you commented on how long you've been playing around with raw, you've inspired me to NOT GIVE UP! I've been at raw for 2 years now, up and down. DH even gave me an ultimatum (sp?) to stick with it, or find something else that works. (He's an all or nothing kinda guy) So, I am doing my BEST this go around to keep it real, make it for life, and I need you to hang in there and be a success with me...OK??!!!
I have been feeling slightly down, but I think I am ovulating, I can FEEL it this morning, and I am exactly 2 weeks from TOM! When I say I am "down" I don't mean depressed like what happened last month, maybe slightly, hhmm, puffy in the face, headachy, and when I went to my sister's house yesterday she commented on how puffy my eyes looked. I told her I felt ok, I just must be detoxing. She asked me "how long are you doing that?" WELL, HOW DO YOU ANSWER THAT??? I told her my body was doing that on it's own....I started "eating" right at the beginning of September, and I must be "getting rid of" something. She kept looking at me, with this blank look...she just didn't understand. She probably would have called the Dr. right away to find out what was wrong with her.
My energy level is great. I got up early and got a shower (which I never seem to do in the am) and I am waiting on the kids.....we homeschool and we were at DH's softball game LATE last night, so I am letting them sleep in.

OK..I'm babbling. No appetite. I am going to have a smoothie (which I didn't have yesterday....) Yesterday, I barely ate anything. I'm going to UP the water, have some detox tea, and have a smoothie.

Hope ya'll have a very BLESSED day.

Beppa: If you read this, are you doing Alissa's liver cleanse???

Lady Green Jeans: Where did you find your tart recipe, it sounds YUMMY!

Thank you both~ I really appreciate the support on this challenge thread. I am NOT going to give up...I've been 100% raw since August 25th and I know this is the life for me, without question. there are ups and downs on any path but mine this last (almost) month have been purely emotional with no wavering from raw eating. I had really slacked off on the green smoothies and I think even with the big salads I haven't been getting enough greens in and that has made a difference to me in how I've felt. So...being the teachable girl that I am, I am having a green smoothie and will everyday from now on. If I want the almond milk/cacao smoothie I'll have that later in the day instead of the am.

Right now I am drinking a very green smoothie
w/
fresh squeezed mineola oj
pineapple
banana
papaya
mango
powdered greens
three big handfuls of spinach

Your day sounds very full Wendi...thanks for keeping me company~:D As for your sister, I think that as time goes on you will be feeling better and better and it will show in you physically...then you really won't have to say anything to defend your choices. That's what I want to do...shine by example. One of my sisters (I have three) is slim and active and has always taken care of herself, eats well, no junk but tells me I am having too much sugar from fruit and it will just convert to fat in my body. I just say, there are always two sides to every argument, no matter what the subject and I will just have to see how it goes~*s* But she is getting interested to elarn more and that is pretty cool~

I can feel the changes in my body, especially in my upper abdomen, not so puffy and bloated looking, even though it will be my tom soon. I know I've lost, just don't know how much. Whatever it is, will not let it sway me from Raw. I am in this for the long haul. Hope everyone has a great day..thank you all for your encouragment...means a great deal!!

Thats great GlimR. You are inspiring. I have had a few small slips but I would still say I have been 99%. I have had to do a STOP  a few times, look at what is one my salad or in the trail mix and say is this or that "truely raw" (and remove it, like olives..) I need to get more of that "no messing around" attitude.
THanks !

Fruit fruit fruit .....just like yesterday. I lost my taste for Green Drinks this month..hmmm. I have never been a smotthis fan, maybe I will try a few and see if my tastes changed. :D

Rawfigure: I have found that I like the savory green smoothie. It's more like soup, and with the upcoming winter months, I DON'T WANT A COLD SMOOTHIE. Blending it for awhile in the blender actually kinda "warms" it up (not really warm, but at least not cold). The "heat" from the spices also warms you up. This is what I like lately: (you can also tweek this to YOUR tastes!!)

My smoothie "guideline":
blender full of greens
@a 1/2- 1 cup of water
BLEND WELL
then add:
1 avo
@ 1-2 cups of tomatoes (3 romas or 1 large garden type)
2 stalks chopped celery
1 cucumber peeled and chopped
basil
chili powder
1 TBS kelp granules
sea salt
2 cloves garlic
any other spice I feel like at the time
1 TBS coconut oil...maybe more

Hope this helps....I LOVE MY SOUP!!!:D

Good morning everyone!:D

As I sit here typing and finishing my purple (there's spinach in their too - honest) smoothie, I find I'm............ cold! Between the smoothie, my wet hair, and opening all the windows downstairs earlier to cool down the house, I actually had to put a sweatshirt on! I'm a spring/summer kinda girl by nature, but I have to say, my pocketbook is going to LOVE the fall/winter!:D I told dh that after paying nearly $300/month for the electric this summer, I will NOT put the thermostat above like 50-60 in the winter! That's what layers are for. Besides, since being raw, I've found I LOVE crisp cool air! It rejuvenates me!

I finally got around to making the Super Candy again last night with the modifications I was wanting to make. It was GOOD! It makes a nice treat.

I can't believe that next Thursday makes nine months raw for me! Where on Earth did the time go? It's totally flown by. I must be having WAY too much fun!:D

I hope everyone has a GREAT raw day! Keep up the great work!:D

P.S. I'm now wearing my size 12 Liz Claiborne's that a friend handed down to me after she lost weight over a year ago! Yes, I'm over here happy dancing!

Hey guys, I started the September Challenge and just wanted to let you know where I was. Didn't want you to think I was AWOL. :o

I started the challenge and was doing GREAT and then had a hiccup (we all know what that means:( ) and then started a 70 day juice feast. SO technically I am 100% raw for 5 days now since the hiccup but I am only taking in juices.

If it's ok with you, I would like to still post on the challenge. I feel G-R-E-A-T and this has helped tremendously with those nasty cravings. I am sure I can stay raw now!:D

Hope you are all having a wonderful day. It is gorgeous outside!!!!

Good morning everyone!

TV - I know what you mean about the comments from people. The other day my mom asked me if when I thought I would incorporate normal food back into my diet and I said mom I am eating better than you. God said to eat from every tree and plant - he did not mention anything about eat any animal you want! She did not know what to say after that. It kind of surprised me of my conviction - it was  to hear that come out of my mouth. I have not been this committed for a very long time.

GlimR - hang in there. I get those moods too. I think it is, for me anyway, the emotional crap I have eaten over and not allowed myself to surface and feel. I would just shovel the food in as fast as possible before I could feel the hurt. Now I just allow myself the time I need to get through the blue and understand it is my healing process.

Good day to everyone else out there. Hawaiigirl - where are you???

Hey ChaiLife and Rasberry: It's great to hear from you...now where's everyone else??

STARFIRE....where are you???

SHINE: I would FREEZE at your house. I love the warmth, and when winter comes I like to keep a fire in the fireplace!! We don't have gas logs like so many others around here have bought, and our chimney needs to be checked. We haven't had it checked out in a LONG time, so last year we didn't use it, and I missed having a toasty fire going during cold spells, even if they can sometimes be short around here!!

Anyway, we're off to get schoolwork done.

Everyone here is so positive....KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK GANG!!!

Tvillemom - I normally would freeze too. But that's while we'll be doing layers. It has not been easy to feed a family of five raw with some of the special considerations we have. I have gone without furniture and we all need clothes. So I'm hoping by doing that, the electric will come down enough and the gas won't be too outrageous, so that I can actually buy the things we need. Besides, I plan on taking the kids to hike at Stone Mountain as much as possible, so we need to get used to the weather anyway.;)

My oldest is doing his math. My middle is watching a movie (but he does it while reading the subtitles, so it counts). My youngest is going to be reading some of her ETC here in a minute. All self-directed. I love unschooling!:D

I'm gonna make a salad here in a minute. I woke up really hungry (hadn't eaten very much over the last couple of days), so I guess that green smoothie wasn't enough for today's breakfast!;) :D

Hi guys ~ Just poking my head in. Had a very uneasy weekend foodwise - something I had not yet experienced since starting the challenge. First time for everything, eh?

Spent most of the time trying to deal with a voracious emotional appetite and didn't always handle it the way I should have, if ya know what I mean. It's always so hard when hubby is around all day long watching him snack on whatever and making the house smell awesome with his cooked SAD, not that that's a good excuse for slipping, but maybe you know how it is. It's football season -- yeah! But with football watchin' comes the usual football-watchin' snackin'. Or it used to. Hard habit to break.

Then, I was so bummed about losing control that I didn't even feel like posting to the forum, my main source of inspiration. Gaaaahhh. But, on a brighter note, I did make some stuff in the dehydrator that I enjoyed: Stuffed 'shrooms, flax crackers, onion bread, dried apples and strawberries. So not all was lost.

Haven't eaten anything today, but will have a GS here before too long. Probably eat fruit and drink tons of water the rest of the day. I need to get rid of this horrid bloat that is still here from the weekend.

Tvillemom ~ Thanks for that awesome-looking smoothie recipe. I have been wanting to try a savory "souplike" smoothie recipe, and yours sounds like just what the doc ordered!

I am glad to see everyone doing so well out there in RFTland! ;)

Hey girl. Don't get too excited. In a Levi Strauss 550, I'm still in a 16. Although, they ARE getting a bitl loose. Maybe I could squeeze into the 14's now? But those are Eddie Bauer I think. I don't remember. These were all either hand-me-down or Goodwill. I don't really pay attention to names. But I am happy as ALL GET OUT that the sizes are going down and fitting better now even though the scale wasn't! That's why I'm switching to once/month weigh-ins. The scale is NOT my best indicator at this moment.

I've been thinking about you alot lately girl. I hope you're taking care of yourself with this crazy schedule you got going?! Stay raw and strong girlie!:D

Ok...I'll go first~:D
Day 29 for me and I am doing fine. I haven't made any "exceptions" this time like I have in the past and am keeping the bigger picture in mind instead of immediate gratification that never amounts to anything but that...a few minutes of supposed pleasure and sooooo much grief...not worth it at all.
Being accountable here has made a difference to me and I appreciate it very much. Yesterday I dehydrated celery, to use for salt...jicama to coat cinnamon "donuts"...and sliced plums to make hoisin sauce. They should all be just about ready. I'm having fun trying new things and really feel at home in the raw kitchen now. There is a learning curve for sure.
Am going to make my green smoothie again today...it really seemed to help yesterday with energy and keeping me on an even keel. Am trying to make them each morning now to see how that goes.
I said I was going to weigh myself once a month and saturday will be one month, but my tom is due then and would prefer not to have that extra water weight on when I do so will wait till the month's challenge is over. I am actually both dreading and looking forward to it!
Hope everyone has a fantastic raw day!!!

Hello raw friends! I am not going to be continuing with the rest of the challenge. I will stay high raw, but just can't get in the swing currently-I am definitely a stress eater and guess what....life is a little stressful right now, nothing bad, just so busy with my job, the 4 children and their activities, no time to plan and I am a planner-I will try again when things slow down a bit. In the meantime, I am planning on trying some raw recipes so that I don't get bored eating the same things.

You are all doing great! Keep up the good work-just 'cause I'm out of it doesn't mean I won't be cheering the rest of you on!!

Hi ! I may add some greens to the diet, maybe drink this AM ! I am getting bored w/ the fruit and I do not want to get food boredom and slip up.

I am going through a cleansing episode and it is not nice  all that fruit and the daily dose of Bowtrol (best Cleanser I have used to date) some Slippery Elm, Oregeno Oil and Flora makes for a Clean Girl...

Have a good day. I am taking the day off to get some last of the season boating. Soon it will be too cold ..but today it is to be Gorgeous and no one else will be on the Lake. This is the advantage of living at the Lake. The Majority close the Cottages and Summer Homes and head back to the City. Nice !!

Good morning all! I am feeling tired lately. I think I just haven't been eating, but then again, I'm really not hungry for anything. I am kinda getting a craving for kale chips...so I think I will hit a good produce store and get some GOOD kale (not the wilty kind from a HUGE mega store!)

I also am in the mood for something creamy and fruity like crepes.....maybe I wll make those this weekend, when I can buy the supplies. I am worried though that it is just the candida sending me into a sugar craving....so maybe I'll hold off on the crepe....does anyone have a suggestion? Maybe something with coconut oil...maybe I'll splurge and buy some raw cacao, and make some CREAMY fudge. If I use agave nectar would that be safe for a candida sufferer??? OK..

MORN: I missed telling you HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!
http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb87/Melody01_N/prod_949_29700-1.jpg

SHINE: I found out this summer, that by going and trying on NEW clothes, sometimes you are EVEN smaller, because used clothes get SHRUNK....just a thought. I can't wait to try on and BUY smaller clothes. I know staying on this journey, for good, will take me where I want to go. Congratulations on your attitude, and sticking to it. ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2008....I WILL BE HERE CELEBRATING MY 1 YEAR...:D I will do it, I'm determined this time, I will take it one month at a time, but I realize that if I don't stick to it EACH DAY, I will never get where I want to be.

I want to be the shining example for eating healthy. Most people who know me, know that I "eat healthy". When I don't eat right, and people ASSUME that I am, and then I'm depressed, and sick, what does it prove?? To those on the outside watching, it proves to them that it doesn't matter what you eat, just eat what you want and when you are sick, take drugs to cure it. That is NOT the example I want to set!!! I will stick to it this go around if for no other reason but to do it for those watching me!!

STARFIRE: I love you. You take the time, often, to inspire all those who are here!! Thanks for your kind words....I think I will cut, paste, and print them out! Maybe hang them on my bathroom mirror, so I can read them often, especially first thing in the morning. You are right, about my sister, and like I said above, I want to be that example!!

RAWMOM: I encourage you to pick up TODAY, and continue on with 100%! I've been on the 90% end, that led to the 50% end, to days where there was 0% rawfood going in!! It's a rapidly sliding scale (at least for me!!) Hang in there....keep it up. You're in my prayers.

RAWFIGURE: Have an awesome day!! Sounds nice and peaceful on the lake!!

I was wondering yesterday, after looking back at the beginning, where's CORIANDER?? I know there are other's, praying for them.....

OK....I've gotta get the kids onto their schoolwork.

Good morning - never made it here yesterday. Still 100% raw since June. I have been super tired, though. Not sure why - I suppose it may be a physical response to the fact that dh is finally employed. I'm sure the stress I was carrying was bigger than I realized & I know that the body doesn't always feel it until it's over - sort of a post-stress response. Plus, I can't seem to get rid of this cough either. I have been loading up on green smoothies... I think they've become my favorite. Running out of fruit around here - but, also out of $$. Got to figure out what to do about that ;)

Well, have a wonderful raw day everyone!

It has been a crazy day here, but I'm still raw of course (like I wouldn't be after all this time!):D

I had a green (though it was purple) smoothie. Then I had our raw version of popcorn (soaked, dehydrated, and salted sunflower seeds). Shine, I love the spanish rice recipe!! I need to make that one again, I had forgotten about it!

I finally got down my green smoothie for lunch. I don't know what I did this "go around", but my smoothie tasted funny. The only thing I did differently was: romaine instead of spinach, for my avo and SOME of my tomato, I used some salsa that I had made and mixed in 1/2 an avo, plus another whole avo (I think) That is about it. I think the absense of enough tomato, and FRESH avo (the other mixed salsa was leftover in the fridge???) I thought I basically used the same ingredients....OH..wait, I used 1 TBS of maca, I bet that made it taste funny, I also used some barleymax powder (trying to get in more greens!) OK...that makes more sense. I really don't like maca in my smoothie, so I won't put that in again.

Sticking to my traditional recipe next time:
1 blender full of mixed greens
water
avo
3 roma or 1 large tomato
cucumber
celery
herbs and spices....there....I need to remember not to go CRAZY with a good thing....

In Him,
Wendi

I've never made the spanish rice...sounds really good~:)

You know...it's a wonderful thing when people are down and we can support and lift each other up...I think the idea for the thread this month being more positive is really a good idea. I've read a number of threads today that are so down, angry and I know we all get that way sometimes... but wallowing in that kind of angry, the world owes us self pity is so self defeating and it really does color everything around us....draws people around us into that place and can effect them in a negative way. Maybe it's just the place I am in right now but I don't want to surround myself with that kind of living, thinking.

So much of what we do is based on choice....do we want to live and make decisions based on what is good and light, what lifts us up and brings us peace or not?? It is a choice. Sorry to sound preachy but I was really struck today by how people throw themselves into what is negative and emotionally destructive and it hurt me to see it...to feel it....ok....*wandering off to make a super food drink*

Hi guys- I haven't had easy access to the Internet anymore, so this is a rare moment to sit down and catch up. I've been super busy, like I'm trying to catch up after years of being lethargic thanks to the SAD way of life.

I definitely find that when I cut back on my greens, cravings flare up. Heed the warning! I'm really optimal on two big servings of greens a day. Any less and I'm packing in heavy deserts with dried fruits and nuts.

Truth be told, I'm eating raw deserts anyway! I don't take weight off eating them but I hold steady. And, so far, realistically, I'll be eating deserts this phase of my life, but it's going to be crap food, or nourishing raw deserts, so I'm going to go make some of that incredible avocado-based chocolate mousse......

And I always put out a prayer for anyone struggling.......

Love, Stina

I am here--decided to hit the snooze way too many times this morning and shorted myself time for a green smoothie, so it was grapes for me after I got to work. Sure feel better with the smoothie--note to self to move the alarm clock out of arms reach.

Completed the Russell James tart recipe and had that for lunch. Actually, the cheese part is still at home in the fridge, but it was pretty good with just the marinated fennell and cherry tomatoes--and very filling. Will probably be dinner tonight, too (with the cheese). Now I am going to go hack my way into a young coconut for my afternoon break.

Have a great raw day everyone!

Sandy

I know what you mean about having a busy, stressful schedule. I feel like I can't breathe right now. TAke the time you need and come back with us next month. Hang in there kiddo and I am glad you won't be giving up on raw and still with us!

Hey everyone! I've been absent for a few days and i'm recovering from a few cooked meals.
I'm going to make alissa's pizza bread today. Is it good? I never hear anyone talk about it.

I know her calzone pizza crust is really good if you want to try that. I don't think I ever made her pizza bread.

Hey all! I just wanted to post quickly and tell everyone how great they are doing. I've gotta get something GREAT made to eat. I am feeling the effects of not really eating, and just grazing on a handful of nuts here and there. I just haven't had an appetite for anything. I have some romain lettuce in the fridge, but nothing to make a salad with. I HAVE TO GET A VARIETY OF VEGGIES.....

Glimr: dehydrated jicama??? Celery??? I'm curious...how'd it turn out?? Sounds interesting.

I've gotta get to bed, but just wanted to post quickly. I'm going to make sure I have some fresh veggies to make a great smoothie with.

DH and I are going to Puerto Rico in about a week (we leave out next Friday am, but will stay out of town, closer to the airport on Thursday pm) I am nervous...and I know I will not be able to post at the end of the challenge, which makes me sad. I want so badly to post a great big...
congratulations!!! To everyone who made it the 30 days, and those who tried. Sorry, guess I feel like celebrating early....I know it's only 18 days, but the next week will go really, really fast for me!! I have to get us all packed up, kids will be staying with my aunt....

I am fighting panic attacks like crazy. Those who will, please pray for me. I need to get some exercise, and keep eating well, hopefully that will help with any nervous energy.

OK..I gotta go. I'm babbling,
Peace,
Wendi
PS. How long will the message thread be open to post about the end of the challenge? I would like to be able to come home and post how the rest of my month went.....also hoping we will continue this type of POSITVE thread for October's challenge.....I can't wait, already, for the next month.

Howdy fellow rawbies! Kinda late but wanted to check in real quick before bed. Had a most excellent raw day today - on track and ready for more tomorrow. Made some chips out of sweet potato and threw together some crackers earlier this evening. It's all dehydratin' as I write.

Wishing everyone well...

We're 2/3 of the way through this challenge!:D Don't know about ya'll, but the time has flown for me. I'm having a little dilemma this morning. Can't make up my mind between a green smoothie or a chocolate shake for breakfast!;)

Molly~...great attitude!!!:) They say necessity is the mother of invention...I am a living testimony to that!!!

Tomorrow makes 4 weeks done for me....considering how great I feel I am so looking forward to seeing how I feel after the next 30 day challenge....and the next....and the next!!!:D

Yesterday I made a recipe from Raw Food Real World for a plum hoisin sauce. I had to dehydrate plums and then process them in the vitamix...I subed some of the nonraw ingredients with raw ones and it came out great!! I love when I find something new that comes out really tasty!! I had it with julienned veggies..carrots, red cabbage, red onion, red peppers and zucchini in a red cabbage leaf...for lunch. Today I am going to make some similar veggies and dehydrate w/ some of the sauce...for an unstir fry!! Mnnnnnnnnnn...getting hungry thinking about it!!
Hope everyone has a great day~

Good morning everybody!!
I have to buy more veggies this morning!! We're off to the grocery store to get some food. I wish I really wanted a "dish", something like a lasagna...but I don't. I think I will get some zukes to make pasta with, and a red pepper and maybe even some jalepeno's....tomatoes, avo's, and yes some greens, and purple cabbage (I love purple cabbage wraps!!)

We're on day 20 and I'm looking forward to the next 20......:D I'm not on the countdown, I'm on the count-UP!!

Glimr: Your dish looks great! I can never get fruit to dehydrate well...I've tried bananas...apples....maybe I slice them too thin? How long should I dehydrate and about how thick should the slices be. I could use some help here.

Shine: What's your recipe for your chocolate shake, did you post it here somewhere?? A chocolate shake sounds yummy....

I've got TONS to do today. I'm outta here. Maybe I'll post later.

Peace,
Wendi

Good morning, all.

Today, being my birthday, I made my cake. I did a cinnoman-vanilla ice cream cake with chocolate torte (Alissa's torte recipe with cacao powder) layers and a decadent chocolate frosting. I wish I had my husband's camera to take a picture and share. Yummy. I am going to make myself Alissa's pad thai for dinner and get Thai food for my family so I don't have to cook their dinner.

I downloaded and printed Get Fresh magazine last night. It was great. Some really good articles, especially about fats. Alissa had 2 pages to herself. It was just wonderful reading this beautiful magazine, it felt so mainstreamed, which is of course what raw food will soon be!!!

Well, I hope you all have a lovely day.

I never time anything in the dehydrator...I sliced the plums and put them in a few hours before I went to bed and took them out in the morning. I've done apples but not in a long time...I sliced them fairly thin and splashed lemon juice over them,.....the kids loved them. Not too sure on time though...just till they seemed "done".

Can't wait to get a dehydrator! Anyway, have been walking everyday with my baby and really noticing how beautiful the fall is turning.

Goodbeats, Happy Birthday. Hope it's the best one yet!

Started the day with an awsome green (brownish from blueberries) smoothie. Enjoying a nice bowl of carrot ginger soup I made this morning after my smoothie was done. Vitamix gets a workout at my house. Did not juice the carrots so it is thick (I will call it chowder-style) but so delicious. Supper will be green beans marinated in a spicy sauce--don't actually know what else to eat with this. Have two avos left, so maybe will forego making the choc pudding and have it for my entree.

Hope everyone has a wonderful raw day!

today i tried to have a GS but it was with scraps from my fridge, which um...were disgusting. i chugged down most of it, then gave up hoping i could add something to it later after i went to the store.
(mustard greens, orange, green grapes, water. no bueno. )

then i had some almonds

2 avocado guacamole with 2 large carrots

and that's where i am now. i am pretty low on supplies...so it is going to be interesting until the paycheck fairy arrives.

Where's "Day 21"??

Good morning everyone!
I have been fighting some allergy stuff. I think maybe that is why, at the beginning of the week, I was not hungry. Now I am craving some JUICE!! I think I will have some spinach, apple, carrot juice, or maybe carrot/celery juice. I know that listening to my body is the best thing. I kept letting myself eat walnuts, and high fats, when maybe I should've just drank LOTS of water to flush out the cold that was growing in my body.

Today's plan:
barleymax
green veggie juice
herbal tea....so far that's all I want.

We have a house to clean today, and school work to do.

Peace to all,

Hey, posting early to get the Raw Day going. I have a challenging dinner tonight. We are taking our Admin. to dinner on the Esperanza Rose, a dinner cruise on the lake we live on. The meals are set in advance, and not raw. So I will eat before I go and then just eat the salad, ask for lemon for dressing, and have a red wine.

So banana's and other fruit and green drinks today. Day off again (two this week !! ) so out onto the boat for the day ! :D :D :D

Good morning to you all! Today is day 8 of juicing for me. I have decided not to put a number on how many day s I juice (before it was 70) in case my body says it is time to stop a little earlier than I planned.

Last night I was VERY on the edge. I was emotional and wanted junk food. SO I had a quart of watermelon juice and went to bed. I didn't want to give in to any temptations.

So here I am! Looking forward to another juicy day.

This weekend is going to be very busy and I will be away from the computer but I will be juicing. Well, one day is a fast day (Yom Kippur) but I will juice the other day.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. :)

Hey all - still 100% raw. But, to be honest, I'm discouraged. I have felt sick for so long now that I'm beginning to wonder why... I know about detox & have experienced it, but my body is just not getting better from my cold/cough/allergies & other stuff which could possibly be lyme disease. I'v done lots of green smoothies etc., tried a juice fast etc. with NO improvements. I'm absolutely exhausted all the time, too.

So, any thoughts... ideas - it's been almost 100% of the time since I've been raw (3 months) - the 1st 2 weeks excluded - I felt wonderful the 1st 2 weeks - have never felt wonderful since then.

I really need some encouragement here!

Thanks,

Hey all!! I just had Alissa's sweet apple nori rolls. They are so good. I made mine with green apples, avo, spinach (over top of the nori) and drizzled with honey....YUMMMMYYYYYYYY!

My sinuses feel slightly better. I think I am getting over whatever. I just really felt hungry, and didn't want to cave on junk food. You know, comfort food when you're not feeling well....so my comfort food was the creamy avo with the sweet honey....

OK...dinner will probably be a green smoothie with tomato, avo, garlic, spices....

OK. I'm going on and babbling....everyone take care!

Hi all. Started my day with a nice smoothie. Really enjoying the collards and flat leaf parsley in there for some reason. The rest is a variety of frozen fruits. Usually about 24 oz. or better.

Just finished my lunch of carrot ginger soup (the last of it from yesterday) topped with hemp seeds and snipped green onion tops. Anyone know if you need to grind the hemp to benefit?

Supper is not yet decided, but thinking of having last of the season gazpacho since the weather is cooling off--have not made that enough this summer and it's one of my favs.

Have a great delicious raw day everyone!

Dear Rawdemption,
have you gone to check if it's Lyme's disease. I know there is a test for that. Sometimes detoxes can last a while, depending on diet and lifestyle pre-raw but YOU know best. have a doc or a naturopath or the like take a look at you. Are you getting enough dark greens? They provide so many vitamins and minerals and can really set a body right. Also, if you have the $, see about seeing a raw counselor, they can help a good deal as well. The Boutenko's are doing a call in to ask questions and I think they are charging like 5$ per person. Rawfamily.com is their sight, I believe. I am on their mailing list, that's how I got the info.

Take care, though.

Thank you all so much for the wishes.

Rawdemption... I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. Have you been tested for lyme disease? I know with detox, it can go very deep and heal things... sometimes even healing things we didn't even realize we had wrong with us. Perhaps following the 30 day plan in Alissas book might help bring your body into balance. Its an excellent plan and super nutritious.

Did you ever get a chance to see that video about the gal that had cancer? It just aired recently. its the story of her journey and she healed herself by incorporating raw foods into her diet. She went thru times when she felt horrible. But she kept on the raw lifestyle and eventually did heal herself.

trust the process Rawdemption... know that it is working. Maybe incorporate some wheat grass shots too. You will find your balance and begin feeling better again. Maybe you can post your daily intake and some of the more advanced rawbies can check it out.

I am hanging in there - still here! still raw! I havent been posting much...sorry.

I have been determined about not weighing myself - however I had a bath the other night and kind of flooded the bathroom :( and my digital scales stopped working - its a big deal in our house for the rest of my family to weigh in - so I went out and bought a really nice big set of scales, the kind with the dial and - just couldnt help jumping on them this morning. I was sssooo scared and kept thinking of a higher weight than I know I am so I wouldnt be disappointed! anyways, I am down 10LB!! I am so happy about this! I am thinking long term and want to be in good shape by Christmas when my eldest daughter will visit from Australia. I am quarter of the way there!

I did not cave - (we used to always get a hamburger when we were dating so it was a habit) But thank God I stayed raw. I brought a banana to the theatre of all things and one raw snack. This is huge for me. Just wanted to share. :)

Yeah for you RAspberry 4! I know how hard it is to stay away from the popcorn. My DH gets it everytime we go. I try to sneek in a bottle of water and some raw fudge when I go so I don't feel deprived (cause I love popcorn). But you rawk girl. Congrats on winning this challenge!

Hi All you wonderful Raw people!

Today is a very good day :D

10 pounds! You rawk! You go girl!

Today was my day off. I went and dropped the kids off at school and then I went and worked out for an hour. I also went shopping today at target and ended up trying on a size four pair of pants and they fit. I was so happy. I bought 2 pair in 2 different brands. I couldn’t believe it! Then after school I stopped by a friend’s house and ended up leaving with 2 bags of cloths that actually fit me. I am pretty geeked! I love free clothes! I really did need some winter stuff and got a few things that were long sleeved since all my stuff from last year is all in extra large.

You can't be serious! I cannot be the first one here after Rawkie?! Where'd ya'll go?

I tried to start out my day with some Super Candy. I knew it wasn't the best idea after the first bite. It's too thick and heavy for me first thing in the morning. Lesson learned. Moving on. I'm gonna go and have some apples with almond butter and honey.

Ya'll have a GREAT raw day!:D

Morn - thank you for the compliment (and for even noticing). Size 4!! You are teeny-tiny. When I was 140 pounds I was a size 10-12 - depending on the garment. My body would never get to a size 4. Congratulations, you are my inspiration!!

Good morning to everyone. It is sunny and beautiful this morning. I have a lot to do, as usual (I swear my weekends seem to get even busier than my weekdays - how can that be...?) The sunshine always makes me feel better.

I don't know what the eating plan is going to be today. It will be raw!!

Have a great day everyone.

By the way....I have dates soaked to make brownies with. I've never made brownies with raw carob, how do they turn out with the carob???

How tall are you? I am 5 foot 6 inches. Oh and right now I am fasting so I am actually down to 138 pounds (I don't want to change my signature as I don't know where my body will end up after the fast is over since I know I will gain back some. So I am sure that is why I am fitting into them as my stomach has decreased while on the fast. It is funny that I am finding there is not a whole lot of difference when you get down to the smaller sizes as when I was larger. It seems there was a 15-20 pound variance to get into the next size when I was a 16 or a 14 or a 12. But when you get down to a 10, 8, 6, etc. it seems I can lose 5- 10 pounds and be in the next size. It is wierd. Also I think the sizes have gotten bigger over the years because I used to weigh 120 pounds in highschool and was never a size 4. I think back then I was like a (juniors) 7-8. So it is all strange for me. Yesterday I even put on a pair of size 2 in ambercromie and fitch and I know I am not a size 2! But I bought a pair of merona, and cherokee (from target) and was given a size 4 in the gap brand and they all fit. All I can say is maybe they run it bit larger. However, I am still geeked! I do know now though if I get down to my goal weight of 130 I will probably be a solid size 4 (which I think years ago would have been a size 6). I say this because when I was 130 before I wore a size 6. I think the clothing companies have gotten smarter and have ajusted the sizes for marketing purposes. I am still excited though!

I am also 5'6" and weigh about 129-130 right now and a solid 4. My perfect weight is about 123 ish so I have been trying to get to that for sooooo long. I have tried everything (weights, running, fruit only, low cals, high cals, nuts, no nuts, raw...high raw ! ) all except fasting, so I think that may be next.

until I decided to start...need a buddy I think....I will be a 4. My size 2's have not been worn for two years now...

Another dinner challenge tonight, survived last night out, Gourmet Club dinner. We are taking Gingered Shrimp  ...so not sure what the theme is, but I know it will not be raw. I hope lots of seafood as I have an easy excuse, allergic like crazy !! ..and eat before I go !!

Just wanted to share my favorite eating out plan of attack. We always go to our nearby Mexican Restaurant. I slice a jicima and take with me to use as my "chip" for dipping salsa. We order fajitas. My dh gets all the meat he can handle, beans, cheese, sour cream, chips, tortillas, and I eat the guacamole, pico, and lettuce (making it into a salad sort of concoction with salsa on top). I usually try to grab the bell peppers and onions that haven't been sizzled to death on the fajita plate! I'm full, in control, and got to enjoy an evening out! And dh has leftovers for the next day. By the way, dh LOVES the sliced jicima and last night wanted it instead of the regular corn chips with the salsa!

Hi Everyone!!
So good to be back. I've been sick with some kind of bug that just does not want to go away. Still have a headache and upset tummy, no energy. I usually get one of these when the weather changes but was hopeing that being raw might help. So I haven't been raw for a few days, my tummy could not hold anything down but toast so that is all I've been living on for a week. Had a banana today and that seems o'k so I'm going to try just eating them today, instead of toast, would really like to get away from that asap. and back to raw.
What does anyone else do when they feel sick and can't eat anything raw. Smoothes, juice any kind of fruit and I was instanly sick. Any suggestions? I really want to stay raw even when feeling bad as I know white toast has absolutly no value at all to it, I mean I won't even feed it to my dogs!
Guess I'll stick to bananas for now.
I hope everyone is feeling great, looking forward to reading all your post.

After 2 pregnancies, c-sections and losing 100 pounds (from my heaviest after pregnancy) I do have some issues. Most of my skin is fine as I have been exercising all throughout my raw journey but my lower stomach still has a pouch and some loose skin. It is driving me completely crazy as it is one of the last areas that need to go. But I will still give it time because I hear the skin does catch up eventually so I hope to make some progress in this area over the next year. I really need to do some tightening up and muscle building cause I am pretty weak and untoned.

Hey everyone! Well, I had to work today, so not such a good start....blech. But I'm still going strong, so that's good! I had a craving for medjools and macadamias, so I bought some today. It's funny, when I first went raw, I loooooved this combo, but since I stopped eating nuts on a regular basis, and not eating dates at all, this didn't taste as good as before! Hmmm.....
Otherwise I haven't really eaten a whole lot.....mostly fruit, a few veggies with Indian spinach dip......not too sure what to have for din....not really hungry, but I want to have something! Ok, have a great evening!

I am doing another mastercleanse. A short one this time. I am on day 11 right now and plan on bringing it to a close real soon. I figure within a few days I will stop. I haven't completely decided yet. I just weighed in at 137 today and would like to get down a few more pounds because I know I will gain some back. After this fast I want to stay in the 130's cause the 140's are just a hard place for my body to plateau at. The mastercleanse is super easy as it gives you some calories drinking the lemonade and You really aren't hungry when you do it. I really love it! If you want to know more about it, there are a ton of threads on this in the fasting section on this website. Just do a search.

Good Morning Raw Friends!

Gosh, I still need to be careful of where I go. I met some friends at a coffee house and had a crappy-tasting cup of herbal tea. I'm totally okay with drinking herbal tea and being raw but......the stinky water was full of chemicals and I was very aware of the chemical taste over the tea. yuck:(

But I focused on my friend's enjoying their sophisticated coffee drinks and started feeling all agro with that wonderful coffee smell in the air. I was dimply aware that although they may be enjoying their drinks, gee, that one has anxiety... that one is way overweight, that one's thyroid is acting up..... I had to leave after just ten minutes.

Ah,.... I'm learning to socialize outside of food venues. I'm everyone's exercise buddy now. I generally meet friend's for walks or go to the gym with them now. Saves money too.

Thanks for the eating out tips. I find restaurants easier than a Dinner Party where the Host has planned a meal. The party of 3 other couples we have now joined is "new " to us so I could not call a stranger and give her my guidelines...yet. Soon it will be out that I am a Rawbie.

There was NO Raw food at the dinner...even the salad had a dressing on it, sliced almonds (sure not raw !) but she did have cherry tomatoes from her garden on the plate as garnish. Since there were 8 people no one noticed that I pushed the food around on the plate and I did refuse desert but seemed ok to do. We are hosting the Oct dinner so I will get an opportunity to do some Raw foods for that !

I do want to start the Lemon Cleanse tomorrow..anyone I can join for support ? Morn you are still doing that right ?

Good morning everyone! Scale showed a weight change - not much but I will take it. I guess the older you get the harder it is to rid the pounds (at least for me that has been true). No anxiety, right? I have read alot of posts where people are not losing but their bodies are shrinking.

It is another beautiful sunny day.

Have a great raw day. Plan to make broccoli with cut up apples, raisins, and walnuts to go with my soup today for lunch. Almost a waldorf salad but with broccoli added in. Dressing will be lemon and o.o. I think. Sounds good...
