I guess I really needed to eat all I did yesterday. All I'll say is, the results showed up in a healthy way in the bathroom this morning!
I am wishing all of you a beautiful RAW day! I plan on making a surprise pie for dh later, as his going away surprise. We've been talking about making this, so today would be the perfect day to do it. If I get time, I'll let ya'll know how it came out. If not, I'll just let you know tomorrow!;)

Morning all. So many motivated people this morning. Just finished feeding my Springer, oil pulling, and will be getting ready to make a green smoothie in a couple minutes. Have a hectic non-stop kind of day so that should keep me on track and energized.
Hope everyone has a great day--wish I was heading to the farmers market, too.

Well, it appears we are all getting in our market de farmer today. I love it!! My gran and I are off as well. DH just got home from a bike ride and is taking the kids to the beach as it will be hhhhoootttt today. (I can't go with these stitches in my hand.)
Have eaten a delicious strawberry/plum/spinach smoothie and a few pieces of Glimr's candy. My kids are calling it "cotton candy". Whatever, as long as they eat it!!
Off to see what the farmer's have picked today.
Keep up the excellent work, folks.

Yesterday was an easy day. I ate fruit and raw veggies, a handfull of almonds and some red wine.
Today will be the same, except I used the rest of my raw almonds in raw brownies. SO no almonds until I decided to order more as I am sure the raw almonds at Wegmans or the HFS are not really raw !
Tonight I have a challenge at a dinner party. We are new in Town and some of the couple our age who also live on the lake year round are having us over for a "get to know us". Will be nice, but the issue of me being Raw will have to come out at some point. I can count on my husband, he will announce it in a matter of fact way.
I will tell them I am experimenting with it and I feel great and my just stick to it....:D

Wow - great weight losses I just read ! I am not going to continue weighing myself daily as I feel great and it fluctuates so I must go by how I feel not the numbers !
Up, green smoothie, salad made night before for lunch and off to work . I made some spicy Zuke slices in the dehydrator last night and can't wait to have them tonight. I must find time to have interesting options with my crazy schedule. I am still in owe of the woman with the nonraw family . Way to go !
One thing I like about being raw is that if I make something I don't like I don't feel like I have to eat it. It doesn't still call my name....
Tonite -avocado, tomatos and the zuke chips !
Week #2 behind me !!

This is day 31 of 100 percent raw.
Don't know whether I will continue. I am debating.
Raw is the ONLY way for me to looose this weight.
Nothing else can do it.
Well, we shall see.
So far, I've not slipped.

I went to goneraw.com and found some recipes for Pico de Gallo, Guac,Macadamia sour creme, and spicy taco meat. THey also have a Spicy tortilla recipe but it takes 8 hours of soak time for the flax seeds (not enough time to do today). Anyway...as long as my energy picks up I am going to attempt this. I usually eat simply - one recipe at a time. This will be interesting. I like to make something 'heavier' on the weekends. I seem to 'need it that way'. Wish me luck ;) Have a good afternoon

Well - I'm enjoying being 100% raw - since the end of June. I've lost about 20 lbs since going raw for a total of 62 lbs since last March. I'm feeling really good, but have a horrible cold. Raw honey has become my cough medicine of choice. I had a wonderful day yesterday - dh took me to Cafe Gratitude & I had raw pizza. It was super tasty & I didn't have to make it either. ;)
I need to make more yummy foods - I was living on smoothies, but my cough does not appreciate the cold. So, I'm going to make some onion bread & crackers... I'm thinking about trying the pad thai too.
Have a wonderful raw day!

Feeling so awesome...30 minutes and sweaty! on the treadmill, then full body push push push weight workout....I feel just a little stiff and that great tired feeling. (wonder what it will be like tomorrow) Hopefully eating raw will help with the recovery time and lactic acid build up and pain...
So, picked up some more greens and fruit for a green smoothie......on my way to make it!!!!Wish I felt this way all the time.

So far the day is going great for me. I had a piece of the 'super candy' and then later on, I made shakes and smoothies for everyone and so I had a bit of all of them! :)
My niece and nephew stayed the night with the kids and so, 2 of them wanted strawberry shakes (had a little of that), 1 of them wanted a chocolate shake (had a little of that), my brother likes only vanilla shakes so I made him one of those (had a little of that) and my oldest daughter wanted a smoothie so, I had a little of that too! :D Then, we went to Costco to take back a watermelon that was just AWFUL when I cut it open. Funny thing, when we went in, they had pulled ALL of their watermelons off the floor, so it must have been a common complaint about the melons.
So, we got a container of grapes and some bananas instead of another melon and I had some of the grapes.
Oh, and nibbled on/sampled a few of the (not-quite-done) tortillas I have in the dehydrator. They are SO good with added seasonings such as garlic pwd, onion pwd, chili pwd and a little more sea salt. I think in one batch I also added a little bit of onion and nama shoyu to the mix.
My husband told me today that raw has been helping with his memory retention. He's a programmer/developer and he said that since we've been eating raw, it's been SO easy for him to remember code, etc. So, I'm glad he's making connections and seeing what raw is doing for him.

Hi everyone,
Just checking in!! So far today I've only had an Acai energy bowl from Robeks with some extra banana. I'm on campus getting ready to do homework but I will have to leave soon or the junk food vending machine(which is outside) will come calling.....Hey, I've finally made the connection: If I have any sort of caffeine(including the herbal stuff) I have a craving for sweets-Has anyone else noticed that???It's so strange, also I noticed I have more energy than when I don't have any caffeine!! How weird is that?Any thoughts? Sciencegal:D :D

I'm feeling really good about being raw, right now. As I wrote in my blog, I was faced with temptation last night, and, woo hoo! came out on top. Which feels great. I'm thinking about making the super candy tonight.....I'm anxious to try it. Other than that, so far today I've had a fruit salad - 2 bananas, 1 orange, and Ani Phyo's sun burger on lettuce for lunch....oh, and some watermelon....sooo good!
Seasprite - I made your 'mint and stevia water' tea substitute....I'm anxious to try it! It sounds so good!
Anyway, hope you all have a great raw day!

Greetings my felllow rawbies:
Today has been a so so day.
This morning was a green smoothie but for some reason it upset my stomach (maybe too many bananas).
Lunch was a nice big salad and I think dinner is going to be the same.
I worked out for about 2 hours at the gym between the elliptical and the treadmill machine. I feel pretty good.
I weighed myself but I didn't lose a lot of weight like I thought. My clothes feel different though. I won't get back on the scale until the end of the month.
Have a great day!!!!;)

Hey all.
RAWDEMPTION: About the smoothies. I have mine more like soup. They are savory, with: avo, garlic, tomato, GREENS, herbs (like basil), salt, chili powder....basically anything that looks good, but is a veggie....even some cucumber and celery...blend it all up. This is a great smoothie/soup, without everything being cold. Hope this helps. BELIEVE me....I didn't think "blended salads" sounded so great, until I tried it!
I have got to look up that CANDY recipe ya'll keep talking about.
So far today I've had:
tea, almonds and walnuts (about 1/2 cup) on the road this morning
water, water, water...it was VERY, VERY HOT at the street festival.
A "Go Raw" bar
salad at a chain restaurant....it was AWFUL....very droopy lettuce....YUCK....so I'm off to finish off some leftover smoothie/soup.
Still 100%...even through a b-day party....I MADE IT!! AND didn't miss a thang!!
take care,
Wendi:D I'm sooooo happy!!
Today I was going to start a fast but I have so much produce here I think I will put it off. I hate to see good food go to waste! I might even juice some of it over the next few days. I also got my exercising in. Later today I am going to see my husband perform in Oklahoma in Community Theater. Should be fun! Foods eaten so far:
Young coconut, pineapple, banana & lime smoothie
Raw pickles
Tomatoes and Cucumbers in raspberry dressing
Today’s Exercise:

Green Life,
Why else are you eating raw? Do you hope to see other benifits besides losing lbs? I know I need to lose a lot but beside that I love the energy I now have, the clearer skin, my brain is not so foggie, my aches and pains are not so bad, my hair is shiny. I like how simple it is to eat raw because I have a busy life, working 60 hours a week, and taking care of a house full of animals, a wildlife garden, the house and me. also it really doesn't have to be all or nothing, maybe instead of 100% you can be 80% or whatever works for you. I wish you the best.

green salad with cauliflower egg salad on top

In all honesty, I've never really thought much about it or the connection. I DO know that ever since I started eating raw, my hair seems to grow at a slightly faster rate then it used to before. I mean, we know that when you have dreads they DO grow very long anyway, but it just seems my hair grows faster now-a-days. Also, I've noticed a change in my hair texture. It was never really tightly coiled, but it seems even more loose now, which I'm not all to thrilled about because I get a lot of stray, fly-aways and I don't do palm rolling or anything else to my roots besides separating them after washing so that can be a bit challenging at times.
But I do feel that diet and hair health do go hand-in-hand so, it's more than likely not a coincidence that your hair is doing better now! :)

Day 15 for me & I cannot begin to tell you all how Well it is going. :)
I mixed it up today..instead of green smoothies I had,
ALmond butter/cacao shake w/Maca, vanilla, nutmeg, agave, almond extract, sea salt & ice & water. It's my take on RVM's Amazing coffee drink. OH & I of course drizzled the top with cacao/agave syrup..WOW..Waht a eye opener! ..LOL;)
Then, a mock tuna salad on a bed of greens with diced onion, celery~I was so craving the green salad early on in the day.
Also had Juliano's Fiery Lava soup which I added lemon juice & I loved it. First time making it.
Not sure what I'll have if anything later. Maybe some banana ice cream is sounding good.
Walked 45 minutes again this morning. I am so hooked on walking early in the morning as it totally clears my head.
Nice to read how well everyone is doing.:)
Until tomorrow or later,

I took my son to a birthday party today. I made a green smoothie for breakfast and had some left. There was pizza and chocolate cake (MY FAVORITE) at the party. I won't say I had none, because I had bites of both, but amazingly, when I returned home, I craved the smoothie and it tasted SO much better to me than the cake had. I think I may be turning a corner!

Raspberry4 ~ You sound so much like me! same starting weight and goal weight and I too have taken the vow to not get on the scales till October 1!
When I have been raw for any length of time that has always been my downfall - I would get so discouraged if my weight fluctuated or didnt seem like it was moving...I am not going to let that be my focus this time. Instead I am looking at the way I feel - and enjoying all the benefits ~ I just know the weight will come off. Morn is my inspiration she just kept hanging in there and walking the path and she is now looking like a different person altogether. Its not going to happen in a month for me either.

Good Morning~:)
I forgot to post my food yesterday but had a great raw day. I ate fruit for dinner and an hour later I had some coconut oil...too much I think because I went to bed horribly nauseaus. Woke up this morning with a very loose and upset stomach...weird~ No nausea though. Wonder if it's cause I just had too much. Sometimes it does make me feel a little queasy but never like that. I had been feeling great right before that so....????
Anyway...looking forward to another good day...#16. I bought some jicama yesterday to make some garlicky toasts and am going to try to make a variation w/cheese, scallion and eggplant bacon crumbles if I can find some in the freezer..will let you know how they come out..success or bomb!! Hope everyone has a great raw day~

Got up early so starting the day with a young coconut. They just got some in at Staters here so I bought 5. Need to branch out and try them in a smoothie one of these mornings. Working this weekend so feeling a little tired and sore. A green smoothie may be just the thing I need before I leave the house. Dinner tonight will be the world's greatest meatloaf patties topped with one of the ketchup recipes I printed.
Noticed something really neat yesterday--my eyes are getting bluer. Really strange, but nice. Hope this means a healthier me is happening inside.

I blew it yesterday. Had a couple drinks out with the girls and then ate badly. But am back on track today, with a green smoothie for breakfast.
I notice that I crave huge green salads. Yay!
Will try to make onion bread and chocolate pudding today. Has anyone ever chopped up the onions into smaller pieces? The recipe calls for just rings, but that seems weird to me. Any advice? I want something resembling bread, not a crableg sandwich. :o

Hawaiigal - I almost caved this morning because of the old diet mentality. But, thank God, I did not do it. I cannot realistically go back to eating SAD, as the food actually increases my pain level in my muscles. I know this is the right path to take. I need to hang in there for the long run and keep looking for the positive changes. I think I will keep a weekly journal for that as the motivation. Maybe that would be better for me than the scale.

Good morning everyone!
Did eat the 'tacos' last night - made the ingredients in steps - sour creme, nut 'meat', then later on made pico de gallo and put the avocado in that instead of making guac. Anyway...used lettuce leaves and it was ery tasty and satisfying! My kids are into apples with raw almond butter as 'dessert' right now - how  is that! Anyway to get the fruit in is ok with me (for my little guy - he is the stubborn one). My oldest (14), God bless him, really likes to try a bite (at least) of everything I make. Sometimes he gets a meal out of it too, or at least an 'appetizer'. He is 14, 6'1" and weighs about 220. Needless to say, he eats quite a bit. (He is one of the reasons I need to work. The people at the grocery store all know me by name - I am there so frequently restocking :D ).
Anyway...it is a rainy day. Plan: stay off scale (almost caved this a.m.) , eat 100% raw, and move today.
Have a beautiful rawlicious day everyone.

Soulsistaraw - Some other, "older" raw-ers might have better info, but here are the basics:
don't eat fruit with anything but greens or nuts,
don't eat nuts and seeds with anything but greens or fruit,
eat melon alone,
greens, sprouts and veggies go together,
avos go with everything.

I’ve mended all my wicked ways
I’m getting lots of sleep,
and as the sun slips from the sky
I swim thru dreamland deep.
I live on fruit and vegetables.
I wouldn't touch a steak.
I see the truth, I see the light,
low-carb was a mistake.
I have purified my body,
no additives I’ll eat.
I breathe and chant my mantra,
“No cheetos”, I repeat.
High schoolers in the neighborhood,
they think that I’m a freak
when offered raw green smoothies,

I'm in today but barely, glad you are all here.
So far I have only eaten a piece of super candy but I am soon to eat a papaya, I have a whole one that should last most of the day.
I am going to make raw pizza and rawvioli this week. Can I use a mandolin slicer to make the ravioli shells?
Have a lovely day, all.

Today is a fruit and veggie day for me. I have to recover from a "real meal" last night. I usually eat mono so eating several foods in combo makes me feel like I stuffed myself !
I am going to try a few recipes today since it is raining, make corn chips and some bread, raw sushi from Raw Food for dinner.
My dh and I went to the first Gourmet Club (4 couples, great fun) and it is clear I am going to have come up with some Raw Recipes to fit the theme for each dinner. They have been a group for 13 years so to be invited to join them in a honor I guess. I am doing it for my DH as he loves these types of get togethers (he is not in the least Raw, despite me being (mosty )raw for the better part of two years) Each Dinner Party we are sent a recipe to bring to match the main course so I will need to do it, then modify a raw one for me ! When I host it will be easier for me.
Today:

Checkin in here - I still have a horrible cough... so, I'm going to be doing the soup idea, plus lots of OJ/ I bought a whole bag of organic oranges at TJ's yesterday. Last night, I made the Raw Table's Chicken Salad - it was so good. I served it over a tomato. Yum!
Hoping to get some onion bread in the dehydrator too! My ds loves it & has been requesting it!
Have a great raw day!

Lady Green Jeans - I know what you mean about your eyes! Mine are now a much lighter, brighter blue. I had people staring at my face for a while before I figured out why. I was amazed when I noticed it!:D They are so clear and blue, they almost look like glass. Now, when people stare at them, I just smile instead of looking confused!
GlimR - Great poem! Absolutely brilliant!:D
Today we had green (actually purple) smoothie for breakfast. Then we had the pie I made yesterday before we had to go take dh in. I opened a durian, but it didn't look like it was thawed all the way, so we're letting it finish. This is round two of trying it. The first time it was still too frozen me thinks!;)
Hope everyone is having a GREAT raw day!:D

I had a green smoothie with:
10 oz spinach
4 Tbsp living harvest vanilla spice hemp protein (even though it's advertised as raw, I don't think it is. It has cane sugar in it)
raspberries
2 bananas
agave
goji berries
maca
zinc

water
I'm at work now, so I won't eat til I get home, after 1 am. Then I'll probably have a mango or something.

Yesterday I went to a peace concert/rally in Golden Gate park. There were at least 3 raw booths including one by Lydias, a hemp seed booth (with samples of the nuts, nut butters and some other stuff) and a raw ice cream booth. The line for Lydia's booth was as long or longer than any cooked food booth! And reps from Larabar wandered around the crowd handing out tons of samples. I was in heaven!! :D

Hey everyone! I'm so happy....I made it through my first weekend in a loooong time, completely raw! Woot! I made the Super Candy last night....it's good, and I keep eating it, but I definitely think that carob is an acquired taste.....I also made Alissa's Indian Spinach dip.....oh my, how I haven't made this before now is beyond me.....it's soooo gooood! It's definitely a staple now! I haven't really eaten much today.....apples/almonds/honey for breakfast, some super candy, pomegranite/strawberry juice, and now, indian dip with veggies. Happy Sunday!

Hello fellow rawbies,
Breakfast wasn't too good for me so I won't go into detail.
Lunch was much better I had a green smoothie wth green barley powder, flax seeds, grapes and carrot juice.
Dinner was a plain spinach salad. I really wanted a smoothie for dinner but when I went to my local supermarket, they didn't have any strawberries or blueberries. I guess tomorrow I will make a trip to Whole Paycheck -I mean Whole Foods and pick up my staples I went to the gym today and concentrated on strength training. I feel a little sore but really good.
Have a good evening!!:o

Sorry I haven't posted for a few days. I've been so busy (like making notes to an 800 page book!!! Sheesh!!!) But I'm still in the challenge, still feeling good raw, and enjoying it more than I have when I've tried to go raw several times the past year. I think much of this has to do with not trying to worry too much about how much nuts/avocado and dried fruit I'm eating. I just listen to what my body is telling me and ironically, I'm eating less fats than I have when I was very anal about counting nut/avocado servings. I'm also taking advantage of the beauty of simplicity. I spend maybe 20 minutes maximum on a meal now, and morning and evening much less than that.
I actually had a breaking point on Friday. I knew Fri was going to be tough because the pattern has been binge at the end of the week. It's not that Fri is a stressful day, but the stress from the whole week sort of gathers and deflates on that day for me. And as you all know, I've been having a very stressful few weeks.
So I did have the urge to order a pizza for lunch and snack on junk for dinner. I even bought some chips, cookies, and PB cups from the 7-11. But I decided to give myself a chance to stay raw for the whole day and then if I really really really felt like the junk food in the evening, I would have it. I also armed myself - I made one of my favorite salads for lunch (to keep myself away from ordering pizza :D) and made some raw fudge for the evening.
I'm happy to say that it all worked and I ended up throwing the junk away. Granted, I couldn't resist having a taste of everything, but it really was a taste and not half the bag. But I figure that's real progress.
Today's menu:
Watermelon
Orange
Banana
Romaine, tomatoes, and green onion with raw guacamole dressing
Dried pineapple
Green smootie with cabbage, grapes, and frozen mango
Dried peaches (this is from the Just Tomatoes company - I discovered this today in my supermarket. From posts around this board I've seen that they really do dehydrate their fruits and veggies at low temperatures - yay!)
Raw fudge

Wow! I thought I was going to eat light today but I just can't seem to fill up. I had a mango for morning, then afternoon spinach salad with cauliflower egg salad on it and then I wanted something more so I tossed into the processer almonds carrots celery sun dried tomatos soaked in olive oil and a scallion and ate all of that, it tasted really good, then 6 dates with almond butter and I still want something but can't figure out what.
Hmmm...guess I'll have to look and see what else I can find.

Hey all. I didn't have time to read everyone's posts. I wanted to post my food for the day.
breakfast....just tea and out the door.
Lunch: I made RAWvolution's taco meat, salsa and rolled it in a couple of purple cabbage leaves....ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! It was exactly what I wanted, and it was sooooo easy!!! I took everything in a cooler (I put it together this morning) and carried it to my mom and dad's house....where everyone else ate sad junk....and then dessert, which I didn't have the slightest craving for.
Dinner: A special AWARD night at church where they served food and I ate lots of fresh fruits and veggies....
An easy day.....no cravings...and I look forward to eating my leftover "mexican" for lunch tomorrow!!
The taco and salsa was the first thing I made from RAWvolution...and I am so glad that it was easy and DELICIOUS!!!
Take care,
Wendi

Today's been a domestic responsibility day, but still pretty lazy. Doing laundry, knitting on some gift knits and doing some nonsense here and there. None the less, got in a good nap today, and haven't really eaten much.
Breakfast - greens and fruit smoothie
Lunch - 3 falafels I got at WF's raw bar yesterday and a nectarine
Dinner - massive salad with walnut taco meat and avocado
I'm pretty sure I snacked on a banana today, as well.
Hopefully I'll be able to knock off early tonight and get a good nights rest. I've been thinking about a nice reward for my first month raw and I'm thinking it's going to be a mini spa day toward the end of the month.

GlimR, Awsome poem. Came home from work really worn out and hurting--saw your poem and started chuckling--it just changed my mood to so much brighter. Thank you for sharing. You have a wonderful talent.
Shine72, Isn't that neat about the eyes. People keep commenting how sparkly my eyes are. Looked in the mirror and saw more blue. Not a complaint--kind of nice. They used to be blue or green or gray depending on what I was wearing. Now I'm seeing bluer. Like you, will enjoy the compliments now.
Shell16, I absolutely adore Alissa's Indian Spinach dip. I add some nuts that have been finely ground (almost powdered I guess) to the recipe and it reminds me of the hot dish I used to get at the Indian Rest.--the one with the cheese cubes. Anyway--her recipe takes the place of that dish with no qualms.
Hope everyone had a great day!

Sweet and sour coleslaw

Well, finally back from a weekend trip so I haven't been able to post for a few days. As far as staying on the raw path, I did fairly well, with the exception of a couple of glasses of wine last night. I was afraid I was going to really "feel it" this morning (I'm sort of a lightweight when it comes to alcohol), so DH convinced me to have a piece of bread and LOTS of water before bed last night. Happily, all turned out fine -- whew!
Glad to be back though and tomorrow's going to be a great raw day! I can't wait for my green smoothie in the morning. I've missed having them! G'night! :)

Beautiful day in Hawaii today - no sign of any vog which can plague this side of our island. Nice and fresh!
Today I ate:
Papaya/banana/coconut oil "mush"
lara bar
apple
large chopped vegie salad
Casperlynn I hear you about the wine! I have come to realise that could very well be why I have had so much trouble staying raw - I love white wine in the evenings - but it makes me crave carbs next day...without any wine I can stay raw no problems ~ so this has been a great realisation to me...I just cant stomach it at all.
Raspberry4I am still avoiding that scale - how are you doing? I am thinking of hiding it somewhere for the next couple of weeks - cos I am always tempted...

Hi everyone! This is my Day 10 of 100% raw (previously 75%). Things are going well although yesterday I seem to have caught my ds's cold. Ironically, we visited an organic farm last week and I think he caught it from the farm kids toys (he's 8 months old and likes to put everything in his mouth). Needless to say, not wanting to take any cold medicine yet needing to be "on" throughout the day, is there anything that I can bulk up on to make me feel better?? I used to make tomato soup with garlic and jalopeno peppers. Should I do that with raw tomatoes?
Any suggestions? I just feel achy, have a scratchy throat, a bit of congestion, general malaise. Should I post this somewhere else in Raw Talk?
I just had my usual morning raw smoothie: banana, raw chocolate nibs, agave nectar, cashews, nutmeg, vanilla bean.
Now I am drinking herb suntea: nettles, catnip & red raspberry leaf
Other than the cold, things are going well! Got lots of tomatoes from the farmer's market yesterday! :)

Day #17 for me. I woke up yesterday w/ a very sore shoulder...up under the shoulder blade....like I slept on it weird or something...still hurts today. I had tons of energy yesterday and was on my feet all day, mostly experimenting and messing around in the kitchen. By 9 I was suddenly exhausted and achy..feel that way this morning too...mentally up but physically not so great.
Had a huge pimple a few days ago which I NEVER get...almost gone now..thank you Tea Tree oil~:) I guess some is due to detox...everyone says they get it but I never did before....but also never stuck 100% before either. Guess I will just go thru and out the other side.
Think I am going to do some juicing today...carrot, beet, apple, celery and ginger.......maybe some melon first. What I'd like to do is go back to bed..but work prevents that. Will see how the day goes~

Bonbon - you can try to juice all day for 1 or 2 days - drink carrot, celery, parsley, apple, lemon juice - 1 glass every couple of hours or so if you tolerate it ok (no stomach upset, etc.). That might help you detox the cold quicker. Good luck !
I hope everyone has a wonderful raw day.
Sunday's food:
Smoothie with cinnamon added - delicious!
Lunch - raw tomato soup with cut up mushrooms and zucchini - delicious

Dinner - tacos from Saturday (in lettuce leaf wrap)
Dessert - Piece of peppermint chocolate and pineapple

Good morning everyone!! I am tired this morning, but instead of the mental fog, I feel ready to get at it and get LOTS of stuff done. We have a busy day (this seems typical now-a-days) with DD in dance on Monday evenings, DS has a private band lesson on Tuesday and band practice on Thursday....homeschool, churh on Wednesday, cleaning business where we go clean 2 small businesses one night of the week....Life has all of a sudden gotten CRAZY!!
I FEEL like I've lost about 10 lbs. even though, I know this journey is not about weight, and I know more than likely, I've only lost about 5.....I'll take it. I also believe that maintaining a healthy weight is important for good health. I'll get there, no rush. Before, I felt so rushed to loose weight...now, I'm just going to take it as it goes.
Today's food plan is:

some kind of nori roll, and maybe miso soup with seaweed in it.

Now, don't panic. This is NOT a question really that I need an answer to. It's more like an observation. So here it goes:
Can a green smoothie really be called a green smoothie, when it's actually PURPLE?!:p
We have been enjoying the yummiest smoothie, and it has greens in it, but it's typically coming out purple (from the blueberries). Well, I had two glasses full of that about 45 minutes ago, and so did two out of my three kiddos (the other one will have a chocolate shake here in a bit).
Hope everyone has a GREAT raw day!:D

Hey all - another happy day eating raw! The biggest challenge for me is keeping good food in the house & making the time to keep a variety of foods prepared. The crazier life gets with homeschooling, activities etc., the worse I do making sure to prepare ahead of time the foods I need. Plus, my ds is eating more than 50% raw & honestly, he consumes all my food! ;) Not that I'm sad about that.... would love to see the whole family jump on board! So, I need to make another run to the hf store to get things like dates etc.
Have a wonderful day!

I feel so down. Right now, I've spent HOURS trying to find a Dr. that I will go to. DH told me that TODAY I have to get 2 Dr.'s appointments.
1. appointment for the rash on my foot (left foot, only left foot for about 10+years)
2. appointment with a family practice or gyn dr. for a physical.
Well....I'm DOWN, because I KNOW there is a conflict of interest here. I WILL NOT TAKE DRUGS. YET, I cannot afford to go to a Dr. that will agree to treat me with non-drug means. Insurance will only pay for med. dr.'s...so I'm sooo depressed about this. WHY??? Why can't I just get this over with?? I need a dr. who will UNDERSTAND ME!!!
Those of you who will...please pray for me today. I've finally realized REALLY why it has taken YEARS for me to finally look into getting a dr. appointment. I haven't been to the dr. for YEARS.....
OK...I'm done whining.
Scared...but still RAW!! loving how I'm feeling.

Hey Wendi: Just go to a normal doc. Perhaps there is nothing wrong with you requiring drugs or treatment? Then you can stop worrying about it. If there is something wrong, at least you can get a diagnosis and then research alternative therapies on your own.

Wow! Day 10 already. Made a green smoothie this morning with frozen bananas, meat from a young coconut, 6 fresh strawberries, about a cup of frozed pineapple chunks, and a bunch of baby green mix with dill. Was interesting--not bad as I drank it all, just different with the slight dill taste.
Brought fruit, avo, and nuts for snacking till I get home for a huge salad tonight.

Going to a raw food demonstration tomorrow - I am psyched ! Oh, I made Alyssa's blueberry cheesecake ( 1/2 of recipe) this AM but I haven't tried it yet. I often just like the fruit alone...

oceanee: Thanks....I really appreciate the support. I feel like I have been on the internet all day looking at dr.s that are in our area with out insurance. I HATE IT. The only time I felt "right" about it was when I was on web-sites with naturopathic centers and such. I happened to find them while on another site. I KNOW I cannot afford them...they are cash only, and give a "ballpark" figure for the first visit to be anywhere from $130-$350. That doesn't count any tests, or treatments...which could run around $1000. :( I'm so sad about it, I'm not sure what to do now. I guess I just make an appointment and deal with any test results later.

Just had to share this funny with you....
dh walked into my office earlier and I was munching on some onion bread and I smiled when I saw him and said..."Want some onion bread?"....:D cuz... you know - it's good and I want to share.... and dh looked at me like I had two heads and said... 'um no honey.... but thank you...' and he left....
so - an hour later he just now walked into my office and this time - I'm munching on some chopped celery and I hold up my prized ziploc bag of beautiful munchy crunchy celery and I smile real big and say ... WANT SOME CELERY :D ???
dh stops and looks at me and says...
'ya know honey... you say that like "wow.. I've got celery and it's sooo special... and honey... it's just celery... and NOoooo I don't want any celery!!" he shakes his head and walks away... and I'm shouting to him as he leaves...
"But it IS GOOD!!! ARE YOU SURE YOU DON'T WANT TO TRY IT???"
I just had to chuckle .... cuz well... my celery really IS GOOD!! and I wanted to share it cuz its sooo yummy!!
RAW FOOD BABY.... it RAWKS my world!!

Yahoo!!!! Weazelchef!! What a lucky, lucky baby. Have you ever heard of Storm and Jinjee and their "gharden diet"? They have 5 kids, 3, I think were from a vegan, cooked diet and the others a vegan raw diet. She has some great stories. I wish I had known about raw for my pregnancies.
Tvillemom- can you go to a D.O.? (OSTEOPATHIC DOCTOR) They are M.D.'s, really, but have heard of things like homeopathy and non-immunized children, etc. I have had much better luck with them. A few I have seen were fantastic with info about alt. medicine.
Been raw today. Made Ani Pho's donut holes. They really do taste like donut! Kids like them. Gran likes them. DH likes them. Avocado is a nice substitute whilewatching everyone else eat mac'n'cheese.
good night all.

Hiya everyone! Just checking in real quick on this r-a-i-n-y raw day. Everyone's doing just swell it looks like. Every one of you RAWK!
I had a huge green smoothie this morning, and I do mean HUGE, like a full blender's worth, and haven't been hungry all day. Dinner I think is going to be a nice romaine salad with tomatoes, cukes, avocado and drizzled with some raw dressing or maybe just a little oil & vinegar if I get lazy. Been known to happen, lol.
Weazelchef ~ A baby! WOW! Congrats to you!
Shine ~ Way to go! Your stats are awesome!
Tvillemom ~ Easier said than done, but hang in there. (((hugs))) It doesn't seem fair that insurance will only pay for MDs, but since insurance is available to you, maybe you should consider going to get checked out, just for peace of mind. It'll get your husband to chill out a little (maybe he's just worried about you), and like Vegan Princess said, if there is anything that requires treatment, then you can look for natural alternatives on your own.
StarFire ~ I had to LOL about your interaction with hubby. I do the same thing -- offer my DH things I'd like him to try and he reacts the same way! And also, he thinks that just because he has a "salad" (drenched in chemical crap dressing no doubt) every day for lunch that he has fulfilled his healthy duty to his body for the day. Silly husband. Still, every night, I offer him one.
Okay, I'm gonna run for now. Everyone have a great evening!! :D

Hey all! Firstly, congrats, Weazelchef, on your little pea in the pod (raw version of bun in the oven...no buns here!)! http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l280/keethu/smilies/baby.gif
Secondly, StarFire, that's hilarious about your husband.....he just doesn't know what he's missing!
Ok, onto the food. Great fruit salad with mint "tea" for brekkie, strawberries and pluots for snack, romaine/tomato salad with Ani Phyo's 'save the tuna pate' and Alissa's dressing for lunch, watermelon for snack, "green power" smoothie post workout, zucchini 'noodles' with marinara and ground pine nut 'parmesan', and finally......the last of the Super Candy!! It's all gone!http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u5/Bloody_Angel_88/Smilies/SAD.gif
Oh well.....I don't think I'll make it again for awhile.....it depleted a lot of my staples! I worked out today for the first time since my last attempt last Monday, and it's funny, I was coming off of a 'major slip', and had an awful time finishing the dvd.......this time was SO MUCH BETTER!! I guess that's what a whole week of 100% will do....I can't wait for more great workouts! Anyway, hope everyone is having a great evening.....and feeling marvellous!
Oh, and on a side note, I blame StarFire for my new obsession with smilies....they just make her posts look so fun!

Lots of good energy here today!
Weazel... - Congrats on the start of a new raw baby - how cool is that? If only I had known back then I would have definitely tried to be raw with the pregnancies. Especially since my 2nd baby is gluten intolerant and it would have saved us MONTHS of colic screaming and pain for him. Good luck!
TV - good luck on finding the right doctor. It can be an exhausting process. Do you have any 'functional medicine' type doctors in your area? Look in the phone book under functional medicine (they are md's that practice with the whole person in mind, body, spirit). If not, a DO is closest to this approach.
Shine - congrats on your statistics.
And everyone else - thank you for posting and for the love and humor you all put into this thread. It is wonderful to see you all after a long, hard day.
Have a wonderful night everyone. (Food was the same pretty much as the last 2 days - finished up the 'tacos' from Saturday tonight).

Well, I was 21 consecutive days at 100%...fell off the wagon yesterday, But I don't want to think of terms of failure for challenge, b/c I didn't fall far and I got right back on today.... The progress that I have made in this journey is great to me. And since this is a new journey, I guess I must necessarily experience all parts of it, including this little fall. And it is a little fall in the whole scheme of things.
So, I am feeling pretty good still, (especially since I catered a party for 30 all meat eaters with all of my former favorite SAD foods...and stayed raw during it all.....
Today, my new first day of consecutive raw, but about my 45th day todaly Raw...started transitioning in July...
Today I ate...
Green Smoothie w/ pineapple, cantaloupe, grapes, blueberries, 1/2 banana and spinach.
1/2 banana
small salad w/ romaine, lime, orange, apple, avocado, almonds
2 avocados w/ tomatoe, lime, walnuts.

Yeshia, could be allergies, change your pillow and wash all your bedding in hot water with a dash of bleach to kill any microbes in there.
Weazel, Congrats to you, what a wonderful journey you have to look forward to, all the best for you and the little one.
Wendi, be honest with the doc. you choose, make him/her listen to you, talk, take your time, explain all you feelings, it will work out.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Today I woke up sick, throwing up all morning slept most of the day. Headache, sore throat. detox?? Don't know. feels more like a flu bug. anyway what do you all do when you want a little something but feel crappy. I ate nothing all day, except sips of coke, all I could keep down. Now it's evening, I'm feeling a little better and would love a little bit of warm plain soup but have decided to just not have anything. Don't know what i'll do in the morning either as my tummy does not want fruit right now. Any suggestions?

Now, don't panic. This is NOT a question really that I need an answer to. It's more like an observation. So here it goes:
Can a green smoothie really be called a green smoothie, when it's actually PURPLE?!:p
We have been enjoying the yummiest smoothie, and it has greens in it, but it's typically coming out purple (from the blueberries). Well, I had two glasses full of that about 45 minutes ago, and so did two out of my three kiddos (the other one will have a chocolate shake here in a bit).
Hope everyone has a GREAT raw day!:D
How about when it's BROWN??? I bought some spring mix that I wanted to use up quickly. Somehow between the reds/purples/greens of the spring mix, the red of the strawberries, and the orange of the mango, it came out a sickly looky brown. But it tasted good, so I just tried not to look at it much! :D Besides, as a friend pointed out to me: chocolate is brown!
This morning, I was back to spinach and used black grapes, but it came out dark green. Whew!

Way to go,Shine!
Codajess, how to tell if mango is ripe? I bought my first two (that weren't frozen) and the produce card said ripe when smell. (?) I'm assuming when has a good smell?? Right now I smell nothing--maybe my nose is plugged. ;)
Today is my 39th day at 100% raw. And I'm starting to get bored...need to find new recipes. REALLY jonesing for a dehydrator! and sprouts!
Today had:
blender full of green smoothie (LOTS spinach, handfull of grapes, two bananas)
one avocado with two medium tomatoes and two slices onion
about 1-1.5 cups of nut recipe that I just threw together (almonds, sunflower seed, cucumber, onion, Bragg's, herbamare, dill weed) with two small tomatoes on a bed of spinach (3 cups?)
about 40 oz blue solar water

Still 100 percent raw.
Feeling detox pains in my shoulders and neck. Had to take a couple of Advil because that pain went right to my head in the form of a migraine, yuck.
Oh, well, pretty soon this pain will be gone. That is, if I stick to raw, and I am.

Codajess, how to tell if mango is ripe?
If it's soft and theres more yellow/pink/red than green, it's ripe. If it's hard, it's not. :( That makes me sad because I still have 4 and they're not ripe enough yet.

Congratulations Weazlechef! :) :) You have lots of ready made Aunties here!! and at least one uncle - not sure if MonchaMoncha is on this thread?
I know we will all enjoy your Raw Pregnancy - keep us informed OK!
Shine - you are doing so well! Hang in there - I am now looking towards long term results ~ I have been trying for a quick fix with my weight for too long and getting discouraged when it hasnt happened fast enough. As they say "slowly slowly catchy monkey" or something like that!
Today was good for me - lots of energy. I took my girls along for their horseriding lessons today - I have been very afraid of horses since I had a bad riding accident as a teenager - today was so weird - I feel differently towards them for the first time in years - almost like a cloud has lifted and I am seeing them as creatures that are looking for understanding and I was comfortable to pet them without wondering if they would bite me or hurt me somehow. My feelings are hard to put in to words - but I know it has alot to do with how I am feeling now ~~ more ~ organic? anyway its giving me something to think about and I am looking forward to next week when we go again. I used to love horses but since my accident which left me with impaired hearing (deaf in one ear) and unconscious for 3 days..I have never felt the same about them - until NOW! hmmmm

Listen to your body......well....I finally can hear it!!:o And am in aplace where all I want to do is listen.......amazing!!! I made a great juice last night and had that for dinner...it was very satisfying. Two months ago even I wouldn't have liked it...my taste has changed dramatically. I feel because of that and other things I have really turned a corner in the raw way of life...it just feels so right now.
I am going to be doing some daily juicing...incorporating that in as well as the green smoothies. I find that if I have fruit or juice for dinner I sleep so beautifully and if I have something heavier or too close to bedtime I don't sleep well at all...I wake up off and on all night, am restless and wake up tired. Am looking forward to seeing what unfolds on this journey.
Thanks to each for being here and for your friendship and support. Hope you each have a great day~

I have a bad habit of having one glass of red wine before Bed (during the warm months when we relax on the patio after a loooong day at work and look at the lights on the Lake) and last night I did not want it ..yeah !! I had lemon water instead. Progress !

Yeah - great sleep, on my 22nd day . Tired yesterday but due to crazy year. Today I feel great.
Green smoothie with spinach, apple, cuke, banana and water. I think I'd rather eat the banana or strain as it's a bit thick. Love starting the day with a green smoothie.
Off to a raw food demonstration - I am so excited as I am never able to do stuff like this.
I have got to make the onion bread- don't care for wheat crackers or flax crackers..

Good morning all!!!
I have a slight fever this morning, but feel great....today is my DS's 10th birthday!!! I know we are going to surprise him with a picnic to the park. He already knows we are going to the library. I thought I would sneak and pack a picnic....invite some other homeschool friends....we'll see. I'm even hoping that DH can sneak away from work!!
Starfire: Thank you so much for the prayers. I also realized something mid-day. I was just as upset (maybe even more so) that DH, when he mentioned ME going to the Dr., also mentioned that "as much as I do to loose weight,(he means strictly diet, he thinks I'm starving:rolleyes: ) I should have lost more, or be loosing... (something must be wrong kinda attitude) SOOOO, being a woman, who since the age of 10 has struggled with self image, I was crushed. I was in tears most of yesterday, as the evil one kept putting thougthts in my head that my DH was not attracted to me...that I was fat....sorry ya'll....this is life...BUT TODAY I WOKE UP FEELING LIKE...I'm ok. I can keep on doing what I'm doing, because DH REALLY did not mean anything UGLY by what he said. He is just worried that there may be something wrong. In the past, I would've given into a binge by yesterday afternoon! I GIVE HUGE CREDIT TO THE NEW POSITIVE BOARD!!! It has kept me on the track better than anything, knowing that everyone else is 100%...I am 100%. I know I will continue to loose weight....I have lost 7lbs. in 10 days...of course it's the same 7-10 lbs. I keep loosing, but if I stick to raw foods this go around, I know my body will heal, and that is truly why I am here!!
Starfire, another note...you're story is sooo funny. It's like, Sunday, I made taco meat and salsa and took a head of purple cabbage to wrap it all up, and packed it all up for lunch after church at my parents house. I was like.."hmmmm" the whole time. Family members look at me, like "it's cabbage and nuts, how can it be THAT good, yeah, right!" BUT it was soooo tasty!!
WEAZELCHEF: CONGRATULATIONS!!! MY sister-in-law, whom I love like a sister....just found out she is expecting too!!! How exciting!!! I just LOVED being pregnant!! Keep us posted, ok??
sfdreams: I hear ya about getting bored. I tried RAWvolutions taco meat...which was just walnuts, spices (like cumin, coriander) and nama shoyu...squeeze of lemon....taste it as you make it...and homemade salsa is easy, tomato, onion, garlic, salt, chili powder of some sort. Also, try aniphyo.com, she does video clips, and most things are QUICK AND EASY!!
Glimr: Your smoothie looks so great!!
I just wanted to THANK EVERYONE who posted about my upcoming dr. appointment! You have given me some great ideas about where to search for a Dr. that might search our herbal remedies, and not just drugs. I also have just reminded myself that IF anything is wrong, I can do my best to treat myself.....don't let the evil one have victory over me!!!!
Yesterday's food:
barleymax
detox tea
purple cabbage taco's with taco walnut meat, and homemade salsa...YUMMO!!
Dinner: NOTHING...24oz. water.....I was slightly upset still, and just NOT hungry. I'm really not hungry this morning, and with the slight fever going on, I wonder if something else is going on??? Possibly.
Anyway:
today I have already had barleymax and detox tea....and plan to take some fruit to the park....
Ya'll have a great, fantastic day...thanks for letting me ramble.
Take care,

good morning, all.
Rawmom- that is one of the first major things I noticed as well. If I eat a cooked meal at night I am starving the next a.m., if I do a raw dinner, I am not hungry until 10 or 11. Amazing!!
Today I had a donut hole with a cup of coffee and just made a delicious green smoothie-watermelon and spinach. Soooooooo sweet. Yum.
Last night I discovered raw and youtube.com. Davis Wolfe, Shazzie and.... Alissa!! I am hooked. There was so much. Yeah, more raw friends. I feel so supported and on the right track watching Juliano and Kate Wood and Ani Phyo, etc, etc.
Have a great day, y'all.

Yippee! Beautiful day.
Last night I went to Barnes & Noble and bought myself a book on Taking charge of your fertility. I can hardly put it down. I thought I knew all there is to know on the subject and I learned so far that I was pretty clueless, LOL. I also bought me a Enya CD, LOVE IT!
This morning I awoke to a very disturbing phone call, someone saying that I didn't call them yesterday. When I did and I left a message. But anyways I ranted earlier about it to my dh and I am officially now OVer it!
Reading my book this morning.
Fixed a green smoothie 9:30a still sipping on it.
Have a great raw day!

To everyone who congratulated me yesterday - THANK YOU!:D
In regards to the person who asked what happens when your smoothie turns brown - I told my kids (and myself), that since cacao is brown, just pretend it's a choc. shake until it gets in your mouth. That worked for us.
I'm doing great today. Had two large wine glasses full of the purple smoothie this morning! That is SO good! I find I'm more awake after having them if I'm groggy in the morning, so that's cool!
I think I may make the super candy again today, with some modifications (I'm out of coconut butter and I'm gonna use 1/2 maca and 1/ mesquite and cacao instead of carob for the middle layer).
I'm having challenges here, not with my rawness, but with my ds. So life has been a bit crazy the past 24 hours or so. But being raw makes it so much easier to handle than before raw.
I hope everyone has a WONDERFUL raw day!:D

Tired. Up a few times last night
Also, really thirsty when I wake up. I think that I need to pay more attention to that. Happened several times in the last week. Maybe I have need to drink even more water...float away...
Anyway I will definitely drink some before I eat my green smoothie.
Thinking that I want to keep things really simple today...
Hope all of you have a really great day.

Tvillemom-thank you.. my first pregnancy was throwing up for the 1st four months.. so i'm hoping raw pregnancy will help. So far so good!
I'm hungry but i'm tired. I need to make a GS.
I got my Living on Live food yesterday. I was a little disapointed there weren't more pictures but other than that i haven't really had a chance to read very much into it.
I'm reluctant to tell family about the preg because my mom thinks my husband and haven't been married long enough(almost 2 years) to have two kids. (she has 5 masters degrees and a doctor and.. i'm a SAHM /photographer) Anyway, stressful situation but i know when the baby comes that will all change.. as it did with my first.
I think i will have to go to the store today to get some GOOD produce.

Hi everyone! Day 11 - Yay!
thanks for the advice about juicing yesterday Raspberry4. I'm feeling a little better but I got my period today so now my back is achy from that. I think I'll do some yoga today and streeeeetch...
My dh also made me a superb gazpacho last nite (with serano and cayenne pepper - hot!!!). I do like your post from yesterday Starfire about your dh - mine does the same thing, but he is much more supportive this time around (I've been raw on and off for the past few years). I think it's because he's concerned about his health too. He made me a veggie salad the other day and I asked him to put carrot tops and dandelion greens in it. He did and I asked him if he wanted some and he responded, "let's go slow with this, ok?" So he is much more open and is glad to share my meals (especially guacamole!).
Congratulations Weazelchef! I was raw last spring and then got pregnant - I didn't have the support structure that I do now to stay raw though. I'd like to get pregnant again in the next year or so and am curious about how different it would be raw. Probably much!! Keep it up! There's also a Yahoo Group RawPregnancy that you can sign up for and get support through them too! A great bunch of women (including a very knowledgeable mid-wife named Dixie).
Today I had my usual cacao smoothie (raw cacao nibs, cashews, vanilla bean, nutmeg, banana) and a green smoothie (banana, blueberries, spirulina, wheat grass). I'll finish my gazpacho and leftover veggie salad later (romaine, corn, green beans, other greens, yellow peppers) and maybe my dh will make me a kale salad for dinner (kale, radishes, lemon, garlic, EVOO)?
Have a great raw day everyone!
Oh, and I have never heard of Ani Phyo so I'm reading about her now! Thanks! :)

Hello all!! It's been a great raw day!! We packed up (well, I was sneaking around, packing up) a lunch to have a SURPRISE picnic at the park for my NOW 10yr. old son's birthday. I feel old..having a DS 12, DS 10, and DD 7. I had all my children by the time I was 30...so I guess I should feel YOUNG..(just because they are getting older, doesn't mean I'M old, right??!!)..the more RAW I am, the YOUNGER I feel!!
I quickly made myself some guacamole to take to the park...it was so nice. HOT here, but it has been very windy today, so it doesn't seem as hot. We are in DESPERATE need of rain....everyone, PRAY FOR RAIN!! The temp. is also dropping to the 80's this weekend...YAY!!
I think for dinner tonight I will have some nori rolls....Looking forward to those.
Congrats to everyone for such a WONDERFUL raw day!!

Don't feel bad. I had all three of mine by the time I was 27 and they were my 8th, 9th, and 10th pregnancies! Can you tell I live by the mantra "If at first you don't succeed......?" Congratulations Weazelchef--How awesome to be raw during your pregnancy. Hope you breeze through. Will be neat to hear your progress.
Tvillemo, My thoughts are with you that you will find just the right doctor who will work with you towards better health. There are still many out there who remain dedicated and not just push the pills at everything.
Made a green smoothie with half a frozen mango, two bananas, strawberries, some blueberries, four large collard leaves and a handful of flat leaf parsley. Was actually brownish after I added blueberries but quite delicious and filling.
Salad with avo for lunch. Leftover world's greatest meatloaf patties for dinner. Snack this afternoon is a young coconut if I can crack it open in the kitchen without a lot of racket.
Am very pleased that I'm feeling more and more energetic lately.
Hope everyone has a great day.

Help help help....I'm craving BAD SAD food...So BAD...
:(
So, it is better now. I had some cabbage salad already made...cabbage, cilantro, carrots, cucumber, 5 bean sprouts, sprouted oat grots, almonds...made some spicy thai salad dressing...lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, namu shoyu, agave, ginger, chili powder, curry powder, garlic, olive and coconut oil
...and ate 2 large bowls, (probably 4 -5 cups)...hope the crunchy and mix of different flavors will get me out of this...whatever it is...this is the first day in 50 that I have craved anything other than raw...
Ok..so stayed raw...it is 3:40, and I hope that I can pass the day with more water and maybe juice...
Also need to get up off my bupp..

Hey all,
Wow, I can't believe it's Day 11! I'm very proud of myself so far, as besides the tasting of some junk food on Fri, I have been doing well with raw.
I was wondering - does anybody use the products of Just Tomatoes (www.justtomatoes.com)? I found them in my local supermarket and from what I read on their website, their fruits and veggies are dehydrated at low temperatures. I did a search on the main forum and someone wrote in that they had checked with the company about the tomatoes and that they are fine for a raw diet.
I'm doing much better in terms of my moodiness. Today I did have a moment of irritation but I noticed that it was much less intense than the moments I've had in the past few weeks and it went away much quicker. I'm wondering if part of this has to do with moving to green smoothies in the evenings.
Today's menu:
Orange
Banana
Grapes
Plum
Spinach and green onion with curry/cumin dressing and avocado
Dried peaches (from the Just Tomatoes people)
Apple or pineapple
Green smoothie with kiwi, celery, frozen cherries, water
Just Cherries (again from the Just Tomatoes people)
Raw Fudge
Hope everyone is doing well!

Good morning all!!!
I have lost 7lbs. in 10 days...of course it's the same 7-10 lbs.

Peach smoothie
2 mexican wraps
super candy
2 cinnamon-apple nutlettes
picked all the tomatoes out of a salad I made for dinner...ate a little greens,
1 rawito cracker and drank some water...was too tired to be hungry. Had tons of energy all day but felt like crashing about 6. I seem to really NOT be hungry most nights for dinner.....eat something about 3-4 and then don't really care after that. Hope everyone is doing fine~

Hey all! I just wanted to post quickly.
DH and I had a great talk today when he got off of work. It started out alittle heated. I then realized, through something he said. He thought I just did not seem healthy lately.....I was miserable lately. At first I was offended because the last 11 days have been sooooo incredibly great!! Then I realized...HE IS THINKING OF AUGUST!! August was a terrible, awful month for me, because I was NOT raw, or minimally so!!! SO NOW, I am on FIRE....I asked him to give me a couple of months....I'll show him. AND I explained to HIM that NOW I feel great. He then asked me to "quit playing around" with it...and I told him absolutely, because I CANNOT go back to the depression I was in during the month of August!!:D
Food for the day:
barleymax w/ maca
detox tea
guacamole
1 liter of water
later: 20 oz water
dinner will be miso soup with dulse flakes and kelp granules added. Light dinner, but feel great!!
Have a great night everyone!!:D

speaking of water... I am drinking so much water!! Why is this? I know I have a cold right now and it makes sense, but even before the cold, I was drinking almost 3 liters a day! If we are eating high water content food then why are we so thirsty? Is it a detox thing? Has anyone else been drinking more water than they did before?

Hi everyone!
slowly getting over my cold. I'm sure if I wasn't raw it would be much worse! Seems to have worked it's way down to my throat where it feels like i have a frog in it and it sounds as though I have been smoking for 20 years when I speak! Could also be detox, but since my ds has a cold, I think its a combo of detox and cold.
No cravings to speak of. My dh even had toast last night and I didn't even want any! It's the smell of toast that I love, but I was really shocked that I wasn't dying for some toast. Had a really great kale salad last nite (kale, radish, tomato, sunflower seeds, cilantro, lemon, oil). Kale is so magical!
Having my usual cacao cashew banana smoothie this morning followed by a green smoothie and some other raw goodness later.
I'm also cleaning out my pantry - it's amazing how much room I have now!
Have a great raw day!! :)

Well, I survived two difficult days. Yesterday was the worst...really craving all day long...nothing satisfied until I was "full to the top"...But I stayed raw even while I ate and ate...
This am awoke feeling little headachy and queasy, with no appetite and a short bout with lower GI urgency.
Maybe this is the detox that others talk about, but I have not experienced. If so, couldn't come at a better time...HaHa... Biggest presentation of the year is tomorrow and I have to prep it today.. .Oh, well...the morning is just starting.
Still I am taking it easy food wise...Not really hungry. I would normally start with Green Smoothie, but starting day with apple juice mixed with water...
Not predicting my day foodwise, till I feel a little better.:p

Raw Jewelry Lady: You are doing so awesome! I know about how tastes can change! I am not even having the slightest craving lately.....only for pure foods! I sure hope it stays this way! I give credit to the new challenge format. With noone talking about sad foods and what THEY craved, and CAVED on, I'm not wanting anything SAD either!! I LOVE IT!!!
OK: today's food plan is:
barleymax w/ maca (already had that)
herbal detox tea
smoothie.....
I need to take a smoothie this afternoon (we will go and clean our businesses, and then go eat at a restaurant)...maybe packed in a cooler because we will be eating out at a SAD restaurant where I KNOW there will be NO raw foods!! If I while on my way there, I won't be hungry, and I can enjoy the fellowship without feeling my tummy growl. This is an important dinner, for a dear friend of mine, so I want to be there, just not eat!!:D

So far today I've had a green smoothie-banana, mango, raspberries, spinach, cinnamon, and flax. The nibbled on carrot sticks, strawberries, and tomatoes. Later on I'll have a large green salad.
I've had a headache all week, am very tired, and feel pretty icky! But that is okay, it will eventually go away!!
Also did an hour of weight training at the club this morning and did my cardio on the treadmill. Hope I sleep better tonight!

I haven't been doing so well lately, absence of sun is taking its toll on my attitude
Thankfully, it's coming back out now, but it's really starting to affect my diet!! I'm eating too heavily in large quantities.
I am NOT looking forward to fall :( If just a couple of cloudy days affects my mood this much....oy vey!
Still keepin' it raw, though!!
It's not so hard :)

I missed my AM post yesterday..maybe that is why when I got stressed out it was harder to stay raw.
Today was easy..a fruit day..all kinds..plus some nuts.
I am surprised my clothes are tighter the last few days and it is not PM time...hmm...odd.

HI! ~~~waves~~~:D
Been very busy round here with homeschooling and housecleaning and errands, ect. However, through it all, I have managed to stay raw all this month, WHOOO HOOOO.
This is a huge accomplishment for me because everyone here eats cooked (not SAD, though!).
Take care ALL>
Had to work today but was a little shorter day. I am very tired since I only got a few hours of sleep last night. I am exhausted. Today's consumption:
Fresh squeezed Orange juice
Apple, beet, and carrot juice
Tomato, celery, carrot & beet juice

Another great raw day for the books! I had a "tropical" fruit salad for brekkie....orange/pineapple/banana; some nice Ontario "prune" plums for a snack; salad for lunch....romaine/mache/tomato/carrot/scallion/avo/marinated shitake with Alissa's dressing; sweet, juicy watermelon for snack; green power smoothie after workout; bowl of zucchini 'noodles' w/ tomato, shitake, drizzle of olive oil and Herbamare. I've started my 1 tbs. of coconut oil per day regimen today....must say, it's a bit gross....but I'm going to keep doing it, to see if I feel better taking it! Hope everyone is having a great day/evening! Rawk on!

Good night all!! I had a great day! We had a birthday dinner for a dear friend of mine. We ate at a hibachi jap. steakhouse:o BUT I DID NOT CAVE!!! I ate a salad and miso soup. My tummy is growling...at almost 10pm here, and I'm not sure if I am going to have a snack or not, but at least I remained raw!! I'll probably eat a handful of nuts and go to bed.
DH and I are travelling to Puerto Rico at the end of the month....I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT AIR TRAVEL AND CARRYING MY OWN FOOD IN MY LUGGAGE....HELP!!! I desperately want to remain raw, but my food will be up to them...I know I will make the best choices, but I want to make all 100% raw choices, and if I could just take some snack with me that would be AWESOME!! What can I travel with, my carry-on, vs. my luggage??? What items can I carry where????
OK...enough.
Take care,
Wendi

Alrighty then....Day 20 for me~
I feel good...........ner ner ner ner ner ner ner......:D
Really good!! I am so motivated and there are times when I feel like pinching myself to make sure it's real. I have issues to be dealt with still as far as weight and pain but emotionally I feel fantastic..........great energy in the morning and I start to fade by about 7 at night and hope that will change but for now I'll take it!
Not sure what I posted yesterday but was 100%..drank a serious amount of blended watermelon w/ lime for dinner. Have been making traditional foods for DH and it doesn't faze me. Tomorrow will be three weeks 100% raw. I've read various posts on the forum where people don't know whether they will continue with raw after the 30 day challenge is over...making lists of things they will be "able" to eat again afterwards. I can not even begin to imagine WHY a person would want to abandon something that is so evidently great for one's health and well being. No momentary taste of non-raw food is worth it! Not worth the setbacks and the crazy mental gymnastics we do to recover from it...no way!!!
I am NOT going off raw....and I finally see the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel and I am so psyched that I finally do that no "obstacle" is going to stand in my way, least of all ME!

Yay! Lucky #13!
The rest of yesterday went well - had guacamole and carrots for dinner which I happily shared with my dh! i had to cut him off tho - he was enjoying it a little too much! Later in the evening, I had this crazy craving for chocolate, and even tho I have a ton of Dagoba chocolate bars in my cupboard, since they're not "raw", I dug out the big bag of carob powder that I've had for a while. I'm not really a fan of carob (yet), so I had to scrounge around this site and the web for something to do with it. I was going to get some young coconuts yesterday, but the asian food store was closed (that would have been so perfect with the carob!). I found some recipes with raw honey, almond butter, carob powder and sunflower seeds - mixed that all together and it satisfied my craving! :)
Today I'm having my usual cacao smoothie (getting more raw cacao from Alissa's store in the mail today or tomorrow) - cacao, banana, nutmeg, cashews, vanilla bean, agave. Will finish the kale salad and figure out something to do with all the eggplant I have. Think I'll try the eggplant parmesan recipe since I am making my dh real eggplant parm.
Have a fabulous raw day. And thank Yeshia for the idea of getting a dehydrator at the end of 30 days raw!! Good idea! :)

One thing I find to help me stay true to my Raw Lifestyle is listening to Revvell's Rawkin Radio and Raw Vegan Radio. Good motivation. :D
Plan for the Day is to eat Grapefruit, Blueberries and Apples. Salad & Lemon Water. Some Apricot Apple Bread that I made too. Hopefully not too much of that :p . My bread came out pretty good but next time I will reduce the apricots (overpowered my apples  ) and add more stevia or agave.
I simply took some apricots, apples and almond meal, cinnamon, stevia and put it in FP and now it is in the dehydrator. Experimenting makes Raw Fun !!

Just thinking...
the difference between 100% and lesser amounts of raw is amazing. The way it makes you feel is world's different but more importantly it really does lessen the struggle so it isn't a fight to stay raw. I know when I was doing it differently I was always fighting my cravings...always "allowing" broader ranges of what would be "okay" at any given moment. At 100% there aren't any questions about whether to "let" myself have somthing non-raw. The answer is no, and I don't even have to spend one minute thinking about it. Alissa says it all in her book and I am finally in a place for it to make perfect sense that is beared out in how I feel right now. Sorry to go on and on but I am so up and full of RAWNESS!!! *LOL*
Another thing that really helped me turn the corner was reading The China Study......Ok...gonna go have a super shake~
almond milk w/cacao, fo-ti, maca, mesquite, lucuma, raw honey and frozen bananas....the BEST chocolate shake ever!! w/ cacao, fo-ti syrup drizzled over the top.....talk about adecadent breakfast......WHO says raw is about deprevation??? Huh?? Huh???:p

Good morning everyone.
Not a good day - woken up last night by some weird noises outside that scared the c..p out of me and hubby. My son is getting sick again too and that is enough to depress me and make me feel like caving in. I will not, of course. Just looking for the temporary numbness/comfort that food used to bring me. I am so scared of the boys getting so sick again this year and missing all the school again. Anyway.... I just had to get that off of my chest. Feeling frustrated.
Onto a better note - I hope everyone has a good day today. It is great how many of us are still keeping on with all the junk we have to deal with. Raw does help.

Sorry you had such a rough night and are worried about your boys. Good for you that you are sticking to raw. I know how stuffing comfort foods in drowns the sound of your own worry and fear but the relief doesn't last long after the last bite. We have so little control over many things in life but do over what we do for our own selves. All the craziness of life is always going to be there no matter what we do to care for oursleves...at least in doing what you know is right for your own health you will have more stamina to deal with what life requires sometimes. I hope the day is a good one for you.

No morning sickness, thanks to raw!
We ate at a friend's last night so i had chips(a few non raw) and guacamole but that's a whole lot better than eating the frito chili pie everyone else was eating! Then the host was complaining of heart burn and their kids were sick.
I'm like... helloo.

OK...now that I have my previous post out there....
Last night was a MAJOR success!! We went for a birthday party to a hibachi restaurant....there was nothing on the menu except the salad. so that is what I had...that and the miso soup, which probably wasn't, but they served it first, and knowing that I have miso soup at home, I sipped it down without thinking.
Today will definitely be 100%.
Glimr: I agree with you about those questionable foods or allowances. When I leave NOTHING to chance....don't allow myself just 1 little bite of something I know is non-raw, then I feel so much better. I haven't been craving cooked food. Even eating out last night, I didn't really want what everyone else was eating!! Even though my tummy was growling at the END of the meal, I knew I would eat something light before bedtime, but a whole food, like a handful of walnuts..and some water. This morning I don't have any kind of SAD food hangover!!
YIPPPEEE!!!

Today was good as usual (I love saying that!)....fruit for breakfast and snacks, Ani's miso soup for lunch, indian spinach dip with veg for dinner, green power smoothie after workout, and 1 tbs. coconut oil. I found a way I can make it go down easier. I "melt" it in a shot glass, in a bowl of warm water, then, when it's liquid, I just take the shot! Right down! It has been a very 'tasty' journey for the most part. I could not always say that with SAD food. I usually ended up regretting what I ate when SAD (guilt, and indigestion) but not when I eat raw. I love it now when I feel satisfied and still light after I eat. And, I do not have to unzip my pants after raw. There are more benefits discovered all the time with raw

I just feel so free! My emotions are happy, light....like I said before, I feel like soaring....it's such a great feeling, compared to last month!!
Yesterday's blood drive at church was a HUGE success!! Our goal was to get 30 pints. WELL....yesterday morning, there was a water main break right near the church, and we didn't have water. The American Red Cross had us postpone the blood drive till 5:00....it was supposed to start at 3pm:( We were really worried that the people that came early would leave and not come back...so we were just hoping to get 10 pints. WE GOT 22 PINTS OF BLOOD IN 2 HOURS!!!
My blood giving experience was the best ever. I didn't even have time to get any greens in. I snacked on sunflower seeds, pitted dates (just a couple) and raisins all day. I also drank a HUGE amount of water....I pumped my blood out in about 10 minutes (rather than the @30 minutes it usually takes!! Which makes me nauseous the longer it takes!!) I felt great afterward...and don't feel the fatigue that I usually do the day after!!
OK...today's meal plan...A HUGE GREEN SMOOTHIE!!
Looking forward to the next days, weeks, years.

I haven't had anything to eat yet but I got a pizza and some corn chips in the dehydrator. Yummy!!!
I got on the scale yesterday and actually gained some weight, too many raw treats!! It feels different to gain a bit of raw than SAD. I am also definately far less freaked out about a few pounds of extra raw than when I would binge and gain on SAD.
I hope you all have a lovely day in your personal paradises.

Started off the morning with a green smoothie. I'm munching now on some cut up cukes, red bell peeeeper, carrots, and tomatoes. That should keep me til dinner which will probably be some fruit. I hope to do a lil' dehydratin' this weekend! Got some nuts a soakin' and some recipes marked in Alissa's book so I am all set. Stuffed mushrooms are first. Mmmmmmm!
A bit of humor: Husband opened the fridge last night and the kale, carrots, and romaine lettuce came tumbling out. LOL! He said, "So how long before you turn into a rabbit?" http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o262/casperlynn/bop.gif Hehehehehehe!
Have a great weekend everyone! Be good!

This is for anyone and Especially
Vegan Princess - I remember you talking about buying an ice cream maker just recently. I just got a cuisinart. Do you have any recipes for it? Would love to make a chocolate or chocolate chip icecream. (My old favorites). Could you please share some with me?
Staying 100% gets easier as time goes on ...lovin it ...
Morn...I make my Choc ice cream as follows
Banana
Cacao Powder
Agave and/or Stevia
if I want choc chip I have two options
cacao and coconut oil made into chips then mixed in
or (my prefered) is raw brownies added at the end.

Hey all!! I've been doing so great today. Feeling alittle dizzy from time to time (because of giving blood last night) If I bend over (I've been doing alot of cleaning today) and stand up, I feel slightly dizzy. Then, I remembered that I had not really eaten today, so I had a smoothie and felt ALOT better.
Morn: I hate to tell you to do a search...I know there is a recipe from a guy...I can't remember his screen name. I think he actually made choco chip. He used (and I've made his version) cashew milk (real heavy on the nuts, strained) and add sweetner, carob, or cacao...I think there were variations to his recipe. I'll search for it, and pull it up for you if I find it. WHAT IS YOUR ANNIVERSARY DAY (FOR RAW?) Did I miss it??

Hiya Morn: I think I combined a few recipes I found on here.
1 cup cashews
1/2 cup agave or dates (I tried dates - not sweet enough)
the meat of one young coconut
1.5 cup water
inside of half a vanilla bean (I use vanilla extract since I can't figure out how to scrape the bean)
For chocolate, just add 1/4 cup cacao powder. You can add cacao nibs for chocolate chips. Currently I have a vanilla plum in the fridge. I tried to make vanilla using dates but it wasn't sweet enough. I went to add a bit of agave and way too much went in so I added plums to make it more tart. I adore the chocolate though!
Have fun - let us know how it turns out!:p

100% raw...that isn't going to change...but I am agitated today..angry, antsy, annoyed.....and for what??? I have no clue. Nothing bothering me that I am aware of just out of sorts. One thing I realized is that I've been craving non-raw food really for the first time in three weeks.
I am NOT going to eat any!! What I realized is that I am not hungry at all...I've eaten enough today...guac and a smoothie, a few crackers....
it's NOT ABOUT THE FOOD!!!Agggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
I want to eat to muffle the feelings I am having....and in the past I would have, I did...to momentarily go mindless in the act of eating!! *lightbulb*
So......am breathing........trying to breathe thru the agitation. I'm tired today...when the kids go home I will take a nice long shower...maybe make some juice......lay down for afew minutes..........*deep breath*.....Yup...will NOT blow raw and all the benefits I've reaped on this path.....
.ok..thank you for letting me spill...:(

Hey everyone - had a crazy few days, but am here. I'm still 100% raw - am trying to get more green smoothies in. For some reason, I get lazy & just don't make them... argh!
Well, I have some good news - my dh is officially employed after 2 years of unemployment! The whole family is rejoicing :D I'll feel a lot less guilty spending the money on raw food now that we'll actually be having a paycheck! I'm going to be tutoring too to help supplement since his new job doesn't pay as much as his old one did... It's a good fit for me after being a math teacher & then homeschooling my dc for the past 16 yrs. I'd love to figure out a way to make money from my raw food obsession!
OK - today's food choices.
Breakfast: flax cracker with almond butter & a date
Lunch: Big salad with avo, sunflower seeds, raisins & tahini dressing from Serene Alison's raw cookbook.
Have a wonderful rest of the day raw!

Venting my angst helped too...I knew you guys would totally understand!!!
WHAT IS YOUR ANNIVERSARY DAY (FOR RAW?) Did I miss it??
