I had a smoothie for breakfast
No lunch yet
Dinner will be Lime-Cilantro soup and a salad
hugs going out to you! Sorry you are feeling bad!
Ok today I made a fabulous broccoli salad and summer corn salad for our barbeque today. My mother in law liked the broccoli salad but a no sale on the corn salad. My friend didn't like either. Thats ok it was more for me and more raw yummy leftovers for the week. It was a beautiful day in Michigan sunny and warm. Also squeezed in my exercise so I am very happy. Not looking forward to the kids going back to school tomorrow and work. Foods eaten:
young coconut, pineapple, banana smoothie
tabouli

Today's food:
Smoothie with spirulina and maca and banana
Green salad with green olives and oo and lemon and sea salt + 1 cup of Alissa's broccoli soup
1 nectarine
Alissa's enchilada + butterscotch pudding for dessert
Today went really fast. My son had a piece of the enchilada and liked it alot. Next time I will add guac to it.
Raw - I lost my dad June 27th this year. It is still very fresh and very difficult. I have a picture of him up in the kitchen to say hello to each time I get my food. I feel for you - you and your family are in my prayers.
Have a good night everyone!
PS - I actually played a little 'touch' football with my boy (for an old lady with Fibromyalgia - not too bad! This is only because of the raw food, that is for sure!)

I haven't posted any of my food from this weekend, because my family went camping this weekend, and I didn't have internet, but we are home now and I will post.
I stayed 100% completely raw this weekend!!! I am sooo excited about that because in the past, no matter how dedicated I was starting out, I caved sometime over the weekend. So this weekend was an awesome accomplishment for me!!
by the way, we stay in a pop-up with eletricity, so making smoothies in my blender was a HUGE blessing!!!
I will try to list all the foods I ate:
Saturday:
barleymax
green smoothie
watermelon (at my Dh's grandmother's 80th birthday party....I STILL didn't cave!!) It was a cookout with all the trimmings, and luckily they had watermelon!
lots of water
handful of almonds
Sunday:
herbal tea
green smoothie
green apple
large salad with avocado mashed up and seasoned to create a "dressing" type flavor
Monday:
barlyemax
herbal tea
guacamole (avo, tomato, spices)
handful of almonds
banana ice cream for dinner (when I got home!)
It's great to be home....and I feel so blessed to be a part of this challenge!! It seems like everyone is doing great!!!
Keeping everything on a positive note really works, doesn't it!!!
Keep it RAW!!

Rawfigure,
I'm so sorry for your loss. My mom passed away in Jan of this year. The pain goes away but never the memories or the love.
Happy 3rd day to all of you.
Today for eats I had
Breakfast 1 nectarine
Lunch 1 apple
Dinner 1 slice of raw pizzia from the co-op and some vegan unmentionables
I am one of those who is not losing much weight at all even though mostly raw for 1+ month now. 10lbs gone. but I started out at 337lbs so I was thinking I would have lost at least 30 by now. One thing I'm going to do is start bringing a salad to work with me to eat in the afternoon. I think eating only 2 fruits all day and then most of my food in the evening is not helping.I should spread it out a little more thoughout the day.
Some good stuff:
BP is better
Sleep is better
Energy is WAY better
My connection to spirit is stronger
My connection to the earth is stronger
I don't know if the last 2 make any sense to you but even though I've been vegan for years this just seems to be right for me as if cooked food, even veggies, was blocking something.
Have a good evening everyone,
Diane

I always count my blessings in the people who've come and gone in my life. It seems so ... unappreciative ... to dwell on the loss. So for those of you who are missing loved ones, I have one wish for you, that you can think of one wonderful moment you had with them and relive it, if only in memory. (c:
Today's eats:
the breakfast greens and fruit smoothie
one of those 'personal' watermelons
3 peaches
gazpacho
a gigantic 'taco' salad ... bliss
For the person who is having trouble losing weight by eating only two fruits and then a big dinner:
EAT!
Your body must think it's being starved. Figure out how much you weigh and then figure you multiply by ten just for enough calories to function. Honestly, it's probably not all about the calories, but you at least have to have a pulse ... Really, if it doesn't work after a couple of weeks you can go back to starvation.

I experienced severe nausea this afternoon and the thought of eating raw foods made me feel even worse. It was a horrible few hours. I'm feeling better now....but I'm wondering if that is a normal detox thing?? I really hope I WANT to eat raw food tomorrow.

go team go :D
i think i am getting the hang of this...a salad sounded like too much work in this heat we are having tonight...i threw some spinach, an avocado, a small tomato, some sea salt, red onion and lemon juice in the blender for some dip thingy and choped up some carrot and cucumbers. so yummy and cooling.
for lunch i stopped by my friend's work, he made me an acai bowl with no granola with chocolate chips :( which i really missed...plus i sat outside to eat it and the mexican place next door was in full swing.
i think i am learning how to breathe through my mouth so i don't smell things that are cooking.

i actually don't really get cravings from the smell of cooked food- but i do like to smell it hmm.. it just gives me the good feelings associated with eating with family and stuff... but that was Before i was exposed to the RAW truth :D so it's like- no way i'll put some of that stuff through my mouth NOW i'll just smell it:cool:

Hi, count me in for the September challenge.
I started raw last month and have really learned a lot! I have the morning routine down pat: oil pulling for 20 minutes first thing, green smoothie.
Afternoons are getting easier too. I love gazpacho or raw 'slaw.
It's dinner time that gets trickier. Part of it is the time it takes to cut veggies or make juice or use the food processor. Can anyone suggest some time-saving techniques that could help one stick to raw?
Honestly, if I had a live-in Raw Chef, I would have absolutely no prob staying raw. I am now accepting applications. (I live in Siberia).

It's dinner time that gets trickier. Part of it is the time it takes to cut veggies or make juice or use the food processor. Can anyone suggest some time-saving techniques that could help one stick to raw? For dinner I make a very thick soup. Its made of big chucks of veggies with blended tomatos poured over the top. Recently I have been adding romaine lettuce to the blender also. Here's the link to the cold soup thread:

I find it a quick and easy dinner to prepare.

Courtney,
Some days I feel like preparing more complex recipes much like I created cooked meals when SAD--the creative process seems to relax me. Other days I come home and just toss together a salad, simple blender soup or even cut up an avo and tomato and just have that.
Today I started the day again with a young coconut. Seems to energize me. Have had a headachey feeling for a couple days. Think it is fallout from decaf withdrawal. Will be making green smoothie before I get on the road--long commute. Days meals are soup for lunch and a mixed herb and baby greens salad with lots of veggies for dinner. Need to come up with an exciting salad dressing. Tiring of oil and vinegar. Anyone have a green goddess-type dressing recipe to share?
Have a rawlicious day everyone!

I had a headache for most of the morning yesterday and was stuffy...detox??
Stayed 100% raw...It's a strange thing...I struggled with raw for the last two years, always keeping some cooked food in and sometimes way more than others. This time it feels so different and there is no struggle at all, no question of wanting cooked foods. I just don't want them and am highly satisfied, thrilled even with what I am eating. Change really does happen. Seven years ago I weighed 340 lbs and have incorporated so many changes since then. Raw just feels the the end of along line of natural progression towards health and well being. It's a great feeling to finally be getting to that place...or at least to know that I will~
Will be drinking lots of watermelon juice today...sounds good!
Hope everyone has a rawsome day!!:)

Today's a long long day for me. I leave for work in a few and then after work I meet some friends for dinner (at a salad friendly place) then it's off to my knitting group. I won't get home til about ten.
Breakfast greens and fruit smoothie
3 oranges
3 apples
2 peaches
5 taco wraps for lunch ( romaine stuffed with taco stuff)
Dinner will be whatever kind of salad I can get out of Macaroni Grill!
Think how great the day will be!

Hi SoulSistaRaw-
I am in CT too! Right by the Cainos... Is the Hartford CT Whole Foods the one that has the raw pizza? Do they have a whole raw section or deli or something? I usually go to the Providence RI Whole Foods because the traffic is less but I will drive to Hartford if they have raw stuff! That would be great. Do you know if there are any rawpotlucks around in the CT area? I would love to meet some more raw people.
Thanks for the info!:)
This Whole Foods is on Raymond Road in West Hartford. They have all kinds of good stuff. A raw salad bar, pizza area, hot food bar. It's awesome!!! I'm currently not aware of any rawpotlucks. I would like to meet some folks to get some ideas.

Hi-I was high raw for 3 years and then fell off the proverbial wagon-back on it today-have been reading lots of posts/journals and am very excited to get back into it. Previously on high raw and then all raw, I lost 40 pounds and felt great!
Today is my first day back to work after summer break so I have packed 2 thermos fulls of green smoothie, several pieces of fresh fruit and a large slice of Alissa's Date Nut Torte-planning on dehrdrator stir fry tonight after the days activities.
Hope you all enjoy your day!

Good morning all!
Congrats to all of you who have joined the challenge! Good for you that you're doing something SPECTACULAR for yourself and your health!:D
I haven't had anything yet today. Woke up with my throat all swollen and closed up and it's been scratchy for a few days now. All that to say, yes, even after a halfway decent period of being raw (over 8 months now), you can STILL have detox! I've actually been going through quite a few different detoxes now over the past month. I do NOT tell you any of this to detract. Quite the opposite! This is GREAT! Detox is amazing! It is something to be celebrated. Just remember, this is your body's way of "cleaning house"!:D And I for one am SUPER excited that my body is cleaning itself out for me!:D
Hope everyone has a GREAT raw day! I'll post more later.

Rawkinlocks, our fearless leader-
I like the one thread better, too. Just to let you know. :) Thanks for being such a great moderator and fountain of information!
SoulSistaRaw-
Thanks for the information about the West Hartford Whole Foods! I am definately going to make a trip out there sometime soon. I am thinking of hosting some raw potlucks starting in about a month. We would love to have you come! I think it takes about 1 hour to our place from Hartford, just FYI. There seems to be a lot of local interest here so it seems like the time is right!
I am still 100% raw and packed the dehydrator yesterday and am fully stocked up now! Yippee!
Yesterday I ate:
1.5 qts lime water
Halvah smoothie
almond mango smoothie
tastes of dehydrated recipes as I was making them.
chia seed pudding...
lettuce wraps with cashew-miso spread
lg slice cheezecake... (eeally good though...:o )
really small brownie
I need some greens so I think I'll make a salad and green juice for breakfast!
Big love to you all!:D

Today is my first day to school while being commited to RAW
I almost ate some pickles last night because there was a new jar. I was like "PICKLESSS!!" and as I reached for them..."Oh...right, I'm not eating pickles"
Good thing, I looked at the ingredients just for fun.....contains less than 2% high fructose corn syrup!! BLECK:eek: No wonder I used to be able to eat a whole jar of those things!!!!
Okay, time to head to school!

Good morning everyone!http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h97/thunderstruccpunk/icons/dancing/dance14.gif
I just wanted to pop in. I really can't post the foods I've eaten today, because it's only about 9am. So far, I've had my barleymax and herbal tea. I feel great, and can feel my mood lift and my energy restored!!
Lady Green Jeans: I'm not sure what green goddess dressing is....but I like to mash an avocado in a bowl, add some water, stir it around...then add whatever spices I feel like. Sometimes it's basil, garlic, salt....sometimes it's more Tex-mex. Now you could get more involved I guess and throw this in a blender...maybe even add oil and vinegar, or some type of acid like lemon juice and make it more like a dressing. I just don't like to store my dressings, and I can do the avo in ONE bowl...and then add my salad and stir it all around...keeps it simple for me!!! Good luck.
rawmom: I am finding that I love, love, love savory green smoothies!!! They are also easy to PACK and not get all "gooey". Before, when I made fruity/banana green smoothies, I could not stand to let the smoothie sit, and "thaw" out (mine were made of frozen fruit). NOW, I think of my smoothie as more of a soup.....all this to say, "what kind of smoothie are you taking?" Just wondering!
Vegan Princess: How was your trip? We were both out of town this weekend I had a great time, and remained raw the whole time...not one bite of non-raw...THIS IS A FIRST FOR ME!!!
Shine: I can't wait for a "flu" type detox....is that crazy??!!! Something that lets me know, for sure that I am detoxing!!! I'll wait patiently...you know what they say, BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR!! How is your family doing raw...are the kids still participating??? I have yet to get my 12 yr. old DS to come on the board, even though I got him a screen name, and told him how to sign on...I think I'll gently remind him to check things out, now that school (homeschool) has started back for us, his untreated ADD is giving him a hard time, and I know eating better would really bless him!! I also remembered that you said we could talk sometime....I still would like that, life has just been crazy, and I want you to know how much I appreciate your reaching out to me!!!
Glimr: It's good to have you on the proverbial wagon. Your renewed committment and excitement to your changes are contagious!!! Keep up the fantastic work!!!
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u64/kimmers89/icons/happy.png
I found this icon....and it suites how I feel about raw right now....I AM HAPPY HERE!!! I went through such a period over the last month with depression...that I realize I AM HAPPIEST WHEN I AM RAW. MY SPIRIT LOVES ME WHEN I AM RAW!
I need to plan some great meals. I know I should've already done this, but I really need to re-read some of ....no all of Alissa's book!! I need to try some new recipes. It's fun to read what everyone is eating.
I gotta get going!!
Ya'll have a RAWSOME day!!

Hey!! Some of you were posting while I was!!
QueenB: What is HALVAH SMOOTHIE??? Sounds divine! And chia seed pudding??? Never had a chia seed, what is it? OK..that's probably a dumb question. DUH, a seed!! Where would I find one (bulk, or packaged) and are there recipes for either of these??? Sounds like you are doing well in your new home????
JennaBoBenna: Great job on not caving for those pickles!!! I am going to NOT have packaged stuff like that either, when before, I would've had the attitude that it was not really cooked, (that's a lie) and well, "it's just one olive" or whatever. SOOOO great for you to notice the difference. :D Where are you in school??
OK..I really got to get going. I've got TONS of stuff to do today, and I've spent to much time sitting here on the laptop....life goes on around me, and we're late for our school day.
Peace,

And no, it's not crazy to wish for a detox that lets you know what you're doing is truly healing your body. But after the one I went through a couple of weeks ago, I really do think you SHOULD be careful what you wish for!;)
I still haven't eaten yet. I gargled with salt water though. I think I'm gonna eat a salad. That is just REALLY appealing to me right now!:D

Day 4 - already?!?! Everyone sounds so pumped and excited! Had a bad stomach problem this am - not sure from what I ate (either the soup, the 'butterscotch pudding - which was bad by the way, or the enchilada - not used to alot of corn). Either way - I am still happy to be here and RAW!! Went to the chiropractor for the first time today - I am really sore. My back has alot of arthritis and degeneration (I am only 47) and coupled with my Fibro let's just say the pain was intense during treatment. But I will keep trying. Today is another glorious day outside. I am so blessed to work at home - my little one is sick with a cold so I can be here with him. I do not mean to sound like I am 'complaining' - this is all reality. If I can do this with all the stress I am going through than I hope to inspire someone who is not sure if they can do it. I want you to know I am remaining as positive as I can and I am SO glad I took this challenge and am here with a group of motivating and wonderful people to 'talk' with each day. I hope we all have a great raw day!:)

Saturday I thought: Let's do this challenge because I had pigged out a few times in the week before. But then I still slipped the same day (ran almost 20km and was too tired to stop myself from eating that bread and hummus). Yesterday I slipped again. I didn't mind so much, but last night I spent several hours in incredible back pain. I've had this issue for years and only recently I realized it was a result of digestion problems. Of course, this problem never appeared when I was 100% raw -- I don't want to go through that again so that's a good reason to join the challenge and to stay 100% raw FOREVER this time! :)

I am going to start this challenge off with a week of smoothies. I did really well last month, but had a less than ideal weekend. Typically I work out about 45min to 1hr per day. I try to go in the mornings before work, but the last 2 weeks it has been almost impossible to to that. School has just started and I have been having to go in sooooo early to get prep work done. I hope that as the chaos settles down, I can get back into my normal routine.
Today: coconut milk smoothie with mixed fruit (strawberries, pineapple, grapes, peaches, honeydew melon etc.) plus several handfuls of spinach.

Hi, Raspberry!
You wrote: "If I can do this with all the stress I am going through than I hope to inspire someone who is not sure if they can do it."
You know, there is something very calming about this diet. It's probably a combination of the fact that real, high-quality nutrients are circulating and healing the body, as well as the satisfying knowledge that you're doing something good for yourself. (You know that icky, down-on-yourself feeling you get when you eat something you KNOW is horrible, right? Well, sticking to this diet helps raise your self-esteem, i.e. self-respect.)
There are all kinds of wonderful "side-effects"--like sleeping deeper and longer. So that should help with stress as well.
Anyway, I really wish you the best. Welcome aboard. We'll all inspire each other!

Thanks Courtney - You are right - I am sleeping better (when the kids are not up sick that is) and I do feel calmer throughout the day. When I used to eat SAD, especially alot of sugar, I was always irritable and uptight. I like this feeling. I am thankful for any good change I get from this. Thanks for the kind words.

RAWsome Afternoon RAWbies!!!
So far, so good!!! Sept is off to a RAWsome start!!! I have even lost a few pounds since becoming more serious about my diet, which I totally LOVE!
I took a Nori Roll with me and ate it at my gate at the Airport yesterday and boy, did I get some stares!!!! Then, another flight attendant came over with some greasy fried animal flesh from Popeyes and said to me... "I really shouldn't eat this, I know..." I agreed with her, yet she sat there and ate the entire thing, HATING EVERY single bite! She even knew she didn't need to eat that!
Later, during the flight, she began to have stomache pains. She was REALLY sorry then that she ate that! Boy, I'm sooooo glad to be off of that roller coaster ride!!! :D
Yesterday I had a double shot of WheatGrass juice and some Fruit. For breakfast today I had a juicy piece of watermelon! Yummy! I'm down to my last piece of Onion Bread today, so I'm gonna savor it with the rest of my Eggless Spread, Spinach, Tomato and Onion.
Thanks again Alissa for showing me the way to better health and a better way to treat my body!! (((( HUGS!!! )))

Honestly, if I had a live-in Raw Chef, I would have absolutely no prob staying raw. I am now accepting applications. (I live in Siberia).

Courtney, most of my emotional eating cravings occur around dinner especially as I prepare my family's semi-SAD meal so I indulge, in raw desserts. I reccomend a good raw cake or pudding. Last night I had chocolate pudding and strawberries. Then I had no trouble eating a lovely simple salad while my family had chicken soup and rolls.
Also, nori rolls or wraps using somekind of nut pate are filling. You can make a bunch of pate and eat it over a few days. Today I made Alissa's chili (without the oj and still tastes great) which will last a for a few days.
It really helps to make a mega-bunch of stuff so you don't have to make dinner from scratch each night. Hope that helps.
My food so far: (um, do I like chocolate?)
choco/green milkshake
banana walnuts
choco-greens candy
apple with a bit of almond butter
later, chili

Hey Raspberry: I don't know how long you've done raw, but I'll be interested to know if you get (or have already experienced) any relief in your fibro. My mom was recently diagnosed and I'm trying to get her to do raw to help her symptoms. So far it seems she feels much better when she eats raw, but she has yet to do it for any long period.

Hi all!
Day three was good although I did get a slight bit of craving for a hot minute but thankfully it didn't last long. Today is going quite well. So far I've had:
watermelon
green smoothie (with broccoli and parsley and I must say I was pleasantly surprised that the broccoli went over so well in the smoothie. My son's friend had some and he was pounding the bottom of the cup as it was up to his mouth, trying to get every little drop! LOL!)
a bowl of grawnola in nut-seed milk with sliced bananas and chopped apples (SO good!)
a salad to which I will put a few dollups of eggless spread and broken up pieces of onion bread. Those two items really makes my salad taste kinda "gourmet" and it's SO good and SO filling and SO satisfying!
- open-faced cheeze burgers (onion bread topped with a walnut meat, cheeze sauce and lettuce)...Delicious!
- vanilla shake
- oatmeal cookies and nut-seed milk
- watermelon juice
- ice cream (strawberry)
- a slice of onion bread with cheeze on it
- probably some other stuff I've nibbled on that I'm forgetting but let's just say, I am NOT hungry or even craving anything cooked which is a great thing!
Well, that's about it for my day thus far.
OH...and thank you to all who gave me some feedback on the preference for either having one thread or daily threads. On a personal note, I kinda like the daily threads as it really keeps things so much more organized and easy-to-read. Only thing is remembering to start up another one each night before bed, but it's really not a problem for me...I don't mind doing it at all.
But we'll continue it for the duration of the month of September and then see from there whether or not we should continue this way or go back to the old way. I think towards the end of the month I'll conduct a poll and see what the numbers say and let THAT be the deciding factor (well, Alissa has the final/final say) and we'll go from there.

Yeah Day 4! Glad to be here with ya. We're 13% complete with the challenge!
This morning started out rough as I had a quite a few places to be at once. Still dealing with a busier than usual day but wanted to pop in and say hi.:)
After the bumpy morning,:o I am having watermelon juice for the remainder of the day to get "cleaned out."
Did I mention that I ordered my juicer? hehe I am just too excited about it. My friend said that it really helped with her cooked cravings. Can't wait!
So today:
T-Tapp
bumpy morning
LOTS of watermelon juice
Have a great day guys. :D
PS I really like the day by day threads. It helps me out with keeping track.

Courtney: No doubt you've gotten some good suggestions from others (I haven't gone through the whole thread yet). This was a big problem for me as well, as I started grad school and am teaching so I have little time to spend on preparing. I also had a roach problem (long story, see my blog) which kept me from spending too much time in the kitchen.
I'm finding that there are ways to save time. For salads, I've gotten into the habit of buying prepackaged bags of shredded cabbage, baby spinach, and even hearts of romaine. They may cost a bit more, but I find it's a great timesaver - just fill up a bowl with the greens and there you go!
I also try to keep the salads simple, i.e., not a ton of veggies in it, but more like 2 or 3. I find that if I rotate the veggies then I don't get bored. I also stopped chopping veggies too fine and small and now go more for the big chunks, which I find saves a lot of time. I also find that this makes the salad more satisfying - I get much more of the taste of the individual veggies and it gives my mouth a workout!
As for food processing/blending, I do a lot of raw soups and some nut pates (Alissa's book has some great recipes!) which are basically throw everything in there, process/blend, and that's it. I'll admit I don't sprout or soak - not only is it a bit of a hassle for me but also I find I like nuts and seeds to be crunchy and soaking makes them soggy for me.
Hope some of that helps!
As for me, Day 4 is going well. I am finding I'm struggling with sinus headaches in the morning (a sure sign of detox!) and I'm trying to get through them without taking medication but sometimes it's hard, especially since I have a busy schedule. Other than that, I've felt good, more energy, better sleep. Yesterday I was reading all day for a class and I had the energy to forgo my afternoon nap and read through to the evening.
Today's menu:
pear
tangelo
plum
grapes
banana
cabbage and green onion with almond-butter based asian style dressing
dry figs
Apple
tomatoes, celery,a nd broccoli marinated in ACV and Braggs and spices
Mango
Dried cherries

My smoothie today had peaches/banana/romaine/ice & water. It was very good-I brought enough to drink later in the day as well! I absolutely love pineapple (and lots of it) in my smoothie - but I am all outta pineapple currently!
Off to make myself a raw dinner of some sort! Have a good night all!

Thanks to all of you who write in ... I learn so much from you and get a lot of encouragement. I don't know if it is possible to make mistakes while raw, but I am no worried about it right now...just trying to enjoy the ride.
I have stayed raw for about a month now. This weekend was a challenge...My family celebrated a birthday with SAD of course (grilled hot dogs, burgers, chicken, chips and salsa, baked beans, potato salad and of course birthday cake... Thank goodness, I anticipated and ate really well before I arrived. I have also gotten in the habit of carrying an apple, some nuts and a banana with me everywhere, just in case.
ON Sunday, another party and so I took a wonderful thai salad (all raw)...the dressing is amazing, but not green goddess type at all....and fruit...I was happy with my salad, the green salad that was there (they always ask me to make the dressing, so I made a simple raw lemon vinagrette (sp?), an lots of watermelon, strawberries and cantaloupe.
Last night, my family asked me to cook on the grill for a memorial day party. So I cooked for them (meat) and grilled vegetables. But then everything else I served raw...leftover thai salad, corn salad, strawberries, sliced tomatoes,
I love summer fruites and vegetables and feel so fortunate to have access to a local farmers market that sells only local fruits and veggies...and they are still wonderful this time of year...
Thanks for letting me share...and for sharing with me...

I hope that it's alright to jump into the September challenge at this later date (day 6). I originally began eating raw in July, falling off after 6 weeks only to 'run' back to 'pasture' (greens, veggies, fruits and nuts) 2 weeks later. I have a 9-week-old baby and three other children aged 3-7; I've been busy getting them prepared for school and didn't get a chance to join you all until now.
My two weeks away from pasture was enlightening. First of all, my cheating wasn't as bad as we all know it can be. After being on a raw diet for only 6 weeks, I found that junk foods, fried foods, processed foods and meat were flat in taste and unremarkable in satisfaction. Flesh (fish and chicken) was especially difficult to tolerate. I attempted masking the scent of the meat by adding sauces but to no avail. I couldn't believe that Pecan Sandies don't actually taste as fabulous as I once did!
I could feel myself becoming irritable. I actually told my husband after dining on fried fish and chips that I felt wicked! I wanted to lash out for no reason other than not feeling WELL. I am 36 but the acne breakouts look like those of a 16-year-old! The glow of the a wholesome diet was gone! Also, I lost my baby weight very rapidly while eating raw and breastfeeding. My milk supply was great as long as I ate often. When I ate the SAD diet, my baby pulled away as though irritated with the taste of my milk. I smelled and tasted my breastmilk while raw and the milk smelled fresh and tasted mildly sweet. I did the same when realizing that the SAD diet was bothersome for me: the milk smelled and tasted fleshy and metallic at the same time!
Anyhow, I have been happily grazing in 'green' pastures again and-besides the mild headaches-my calf and I are doing great!

Today, I made a fruit smoothie at my Mom's house...stayed overnight there...so didn't have my superfoods (hemp protein, maca and spirulina) to add...Also didn't have any greens, since my dad is taking coumadin, can't eat them b/c of vitamin K, and my mom is afraid to have them in the house in case he tries to eat green...Ironinc isn't it...
Then lunch at friends, house....but I carried leftover thai salad. I helped them to make a beautiful chicken salad, but refrained...ate my salad and watermelon, tomatoes,
Thenk for dessert, I made sorbet with cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple, strawberries that I had frozed last night. I put it in blender frozen, with a little fresh watermelon and a few grapes...Thenk just blended until smooth and the consistency of sorbet...
Everybody was so amazed at how simple and great it was...all of the meat eaters loved it...They commented on how, I never waste anything, but seem to use everything...and let nothing go to waste...If I can't eat something fast enough, I freeze it and use for smoothies, etc...
When I got home, though I was starving for something savory...was glad that I had some homemade guac/avocado salad already made that I ate. I leave it chunky, so it has real substance...
Tonight, I will eat a green smoothie with my protein and spirulina and maca...

Today is # 11 for me...another great 100% raw day. It's taken me a long time to get to this place but I am so glad to be here now. Raw has really taken hold and it seems so easy to me with no struggles right now.
Today~
1 qt. watermelon juice w/lime
1 sq. super candy
8 jicama garlic slices
fruit sorbet...about 3-4 cups
made w/
watermelon juice & frozen papaya, banana, mango, blueberries,
blackberries & spinach..yum!!! Ate this over an hour~
Tomorrow I am making avo/chocolate pudding.
I finally started a blog today and working on some spoken word poetry pieces I've been putting off. All in all a really good day~

Well, day 2 for me....still going well! But I haven't been all that hungry today....tried to eat a kale salad for lunch, but I ate about 1 cup of it, if that, and had to toss the rest....what a waste! I just couldn't eat it.....it's weird, I've made it before, and I loved it, and now, what, I hate it?! Anyway, other than that, I ate a little too many raisins and nuts (in recipes, and some just alone).....I wanted so much to do the no nuts/no dried fruit mini challenge, but for now, with the way I've been feeling, I just need to know I can have them if I need to....not saying I'll necessarily USE them, but still. Ok, well, that's all the reporting for today.....have a good one all!

Fruit sorbet....thai salad....just some of the things that have been mentioned that have me drooling right now.
I am feeling hungry, but I already ate dinner....sounds like a banana ice cream night!!;)
Today I had:
barleymax
herbal tea
water
brazil nuts
AniPhyo's almond ginger pate nori rolls...YUMMY
Seems like I had something else, for lunch, but I can't remember......oh well.
Everyone is doing great.
I really have to get some agave nectar, and coconut oil...I'm out. I was craving the apple/avo nori rolls that are in Alissa's book, but I didn't have any agave to drizzle...so I made the almond pate from AniPhyo's site and made nori rolls, and they were delicious!!!
I think I will cut and freeze some watermelon to make some sorbet tomorrow, everyone who mentioned sorbet today has me drooling!!!
See ya'll tomorrow!!

Home from school and my brain is leaking out my ears. I have two exams on Thursday and they're both really heavy, so if y'all don't hear from me until Friday don't panic.
Food so far:
big mango
handful of Brazil nuts
2 peaches
water
Going to have my last fajita with guacamole for dinner.
I agree with the having only one thread for the challenge. I have no idea where I left off reading and writing down "Page 5" is a lot easier than "Days 4,5,6 pages 1-?".

Bravebird - that is so great that you made the connection with the raw food for breast feeding. My second child pulled away as though irritated too and then he just stopped. Needless to say - that is no fun, painful b--bs the size of Dolly's.
Smoothie (usual)
1 nectarine
1/2 Enchilada left over from last night
Soup with miso, oo, dash braggs, water, garlic, ginger (OMG!!) and put cut up veges in there and a bunch of herbs too - I could open a raw restaurant with this soup my son said:)
Did not get the exercise in due to the chiropractic manips - just got too sore today. Will see how tomorrow goes.

Raspberry,
Read any of Dr. Sarno's books but esp his one "The Divide Mind" this will help if not cure your fibro. I had it for years, the docs that looked at me said I was one of the only people they saw that all the pressure points active. You could not touch me at all anywhere, it would cause terrible pain. I take a lot of supplements and that helps a lot but after reading Dr. Sarno's book ALL of my symptoms went away and have stayed away for over a year. Including the brain fog you get with fibro. I also had cat allergies so bad I could not stay in a room with anyone who owned a cat. They also have gone completly away to the point that I now have a cat who loves to rub her face against mine. Also through the research I have done I understand if you have fibro you should not have chiro. it will make it worse, unless you talk to the doc 1st and ask him for only gentle manipulation. Your better theraphy would be a good massage. Hurt like you know what but will give you a lot of relief.
Food today
1 nectarine
1 apple
a big raw kale salad with cherry tomatos from the co-op

September 1 just didn't happen for me, but today was Day 1 for me. Watermelon, celery with Alissa's dressing blended with a few pine nuts so it has a little more body, pad thai (yummy, easy recipe from a local raw food restaurant), banana.
I was mostly raw (90-95%) from last July until this April. I lost 60 lbs and looked and felt terrific. Then my dear only son who is 19 was dumped (!!) by his girlfriend of 3-1/2 years. He was heartbroken and very, very depressed. I moved into mama mode and got all depressed right along with him. With all my focus on him I fell off the wagon. I stayed vegan, but didn't make great choices! In 5 mos. I gained back 20 of my 60 lbs and felt sluggish. I'm back now and feel very relieved. I'm sad that I gained some of the weight back, but it has been a real wakeup call for me -- raw foods good/cooked foods not so good. I just remind myself that I've still lost 40 lbs and that's pretty good.
I haven't done any posting on the boards until last Friday, but have been a very active reader since last summer. Such interesting people. Such amazing stories. Glad to be among you.
Thanks for the challenge. I'm in!!!!!
Welcome Bonnie - glad you are here with us! Those 20 pounds will be back off in no time at all that is the nice thing about raw foods!

Rasberry: I was just wondering, when you make your miso soup, do you strain it, or just leave all the miso in there? Mine always looks very cloudy and I was wondering if there is a proper technique to making it?? Yours sounds FABULOUS and I'll have to try making mine with garlic and ginger, YUM!
Bonnie: Welcome to the challenge!! Isn't it funny how we moms take on our children's pain. I think it's like that with most people, we take on their heartache....hope he's doing better!!
Green Life: Congrats to you, almost 30 days. Keep up the good work.
Morn: I hope you can catch up on your sleep.
For me: The nori rolls I had last night were out of this world! I think I will have them again today. It would be nice to have some miso soup with them...YUMMY, yep I think I will plan that for dinner! Now to just get an idea of what the rest of my day will be like....probably a green smoothie for breakfast.
Oh yeah...I bought some detox tea yesterday. Not a big deal for some, but for me, it was. I feel like I am really working on "cleansing" and get rid of the junk.
Does anyone else drink any kind of detox tea, if so which kind?? I bought some by "yogi tea" The grocery store had peach detox and a more plain detox tea. I struggled with which one to buy, and they both had such different "MAIN" ingredients, that I wasn't sure which one to get, so I got the plain. I think I am becoming an herbal tea collector of sorts......
Oh well....
I gotta get going. We have a busy day today.
Take care all....

Good morning everyone!
tvillemom - I put about 2 tablespoons into a blender with 3 cups water and oo plus the herbs, garlic and ginger. I blend it well and it is not cloudy - the soup does turn white, then green after the herbs are chopped in it. I do not use alot of miso, just enough for a taste of it. Also, sometimes just a dash of braggs for taste - or mostly celtic sea salt.
I hope you all have a wonderful day. I will post the food intake later. :)

I did not have a chance to post yesterdays food but I am now on Day 12 :)
As you can see, I was rather busy & did not even eat that much
Day 4 was Green smoothie
Avo/cuke/curry/dill soup with lemon

I have to go in & get yearly bloodwork done, so I have been on a waterfast. I am excited for the actual physical part next week to see how my #'s have changed. The Dr's office is in an *Artsy* town~ Petoskey, it's about 45 minutes from where I live & I love to go there & visit the Grain Train where I am a member of the food co-op. Good Morning!
Tvillemom-what an awesome picture! Thanks for putting that on here!
I made it thru day one for me yesterday-I had the stir fry dehydrated-didn't particularly care for it. I need to get some flax seeds to make some crackers-I would love to have some to munch on during the work day!
I'm planning on taking cantelope, kiwi, mango, apple and banana with me-as well as a salad. I have heard people squeezing just the juice of an orange over their salad-going to attempt that today since I am short on time-my youngest child began Kindergarten today and I need to meet him at his school for a meet and greet with the teacher.
I have to admit, I really enjoyed eating raw yesterday-it felt good! Looking forward to another day like that today!
Hope you all enjoy your day!

I'm still sick, but I think I may be coming off the tail end of it now! Yay!
This morning we (3 out of the four in the house) had a green smoothie with a HUGE handful of spinach, some bananas, some pineapple, some strawberries, and a drizzle of agave. My oldest had some and then decided like halfway through that he could taste the spinach. So we put it back in the blender with some more pineapple. He decided he STILL didn't like it. So my daughter said she'll drink it when she's hungry again. Then I made a choc. shake with spinach for the middle man who doesn't like greens!:p So we all had a GREAT breakfast!:D

Hi all!! I am starved...it's time for lunch!!
VP: The way I make sorbet is to cut up the melon, freeze, and then run through the FP or juicer with a blank plate to mush it all up. I usually add just a drizzle of agave and alittle salt to bring out the sweetness!! I forgot to cut up my watermelon, so that is what I will do today.
I have had a detox headache all day. I'm trying to get by without the caffeine, or the meds.
My church has awards night for our girls club called Missionettes. All girls (and young boys) are split into different groups (kinda like scouts) and earn badges through the whole year. My youngest child....my only daughter was in my class this year...boy it has been a challenge. I am looking forward to acknowleding all they have done this year, but I have alot to do to get ready. I better get in that green smoothie to help with my nutrition today!!
take it easy, everyone is doing SOOOOO AWESOME....RAWESOME!!!

Good morning, all.
After a interesting evening (got a deep ol' cut opening my grandmother's nail-polish bottle and DH took me to the hospital where I got 3 stitches, and I know raw helped as I was laughing through the novacaine and stitches) I am on to day 5.
I provided snack for my daughter's 2nd grade class. I made apple slices with "caramel" sauce and "mud" which was raw chocolate sauce that separated on me. The kids, all 18 of them and the 2 teachers liked it all very much. I am certified to teach people about raw food. Does this count as my first class?
Now I am off to run errands with my gran. The days are so bright while raw. I swear, I get so much energy I feel manic!! I really need to find some creative ways to channel this energy.
You all sound well. Keep up the good work and bless you all for caring for yourselves, it shows how much you really care for others.

Good day 5 morning/afternoon to y'all from Texas!
http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m190/dasschus/Texas.gif
It started out busy again this morning. Tomorrow I probably won't be posting as I get ready for our Israeli guest and about 20 visitors. But I'll be raw even though I am making a BIG cooked dinner for some guests. I'll be the one eating the salad. :p
Exercise: T-Tapp
vigorous house cleaning (yeah, I consider that exercise:D )
Food: nuttin yet All I want is fruit juices lately. Not sure what is up with that. I am just craving juices. Maybe it's because I am anticipating the arrival or my new juicer. WOOT!
I have been getting complements from my family lately about my complexion. Even my 7 year old told me I looked pretty! gawsh. *blush* And hubby keeps saying how good my skin looks. Yeah raw!!!!!
Now if only I could drop about 50 pounds overnight.
We're 17% complete with the challenge!!!

Hello, All!
Day three for me (started late) and I've already lost 7 lbs! Whoo-hoo! :D Feeling great, too. Been 100% raw this time - a first for me. Am acutally having trouble staying asleep! Is this normal? Have had green smoothies (2 bananas, 1 apple, 2 huge handfuls semi-chopped kale, 1 bunch parsley) twice or three times a day.
Hey, are potato slices that go black in the dehydrator still okay to eat? I didn't have any sweet potatoes yesteday, when I wanted some chips for the raw salsa and hummus I made.
Wishing everyone a great day,
Raindeer

Raindeer, what kind of potatoes did you use? White or golden potatoes? Cause the white potatoes are 'poisonous' raw. Yukon gold and such are fine.
Doing good so far today, 2 bananas for breakfast, lunch was corn on the cob, watermelon and some cashews. Stuck on what to have for dinner but I'll figure something out!

Yeah I've always wondered about that. All it says is "3 to 4 potatoes" and someone could easily misconstrue that.
All potatoes in the nightshade family are poisonous raw. I don't know if that includes red potatoes but a quick google search could answer that.

Hey, all - do I feel real tired now, since eating a hearty helping of raw (white) potato chips and raw salsa because the chips were bad for me? Could be I'm just tired from working (running a horse farm), but I've been sailing around on cloud nine since going 100% raw on Monday. Now I need a nap! :(
Any advice?

I made the salt and vinegar chips from Alissa's book. I used regular russet potatoes. They came out fine! I had some, and so did hubby and the kids and none of us had any adverse reactions. So I don't know what you're talking about, but they were fine and so was I.
And on a serious note. Like Alissa's REALLY gonna knowingly put something in her book that's going to harm us or is poisonous! Think folks. She is out to help others, not harm them.
Now, let's get back to enjoying our raw food without the scare tactics!:D

Awww thanks. Glad to be here and see you too! Raw and raw support is the only way. I woke up a few weeks ago (after a horrible migraine) and something just became crystal clear to me and I said: "Raw that is what I need to be eating, not for 2 month, 4 mo, 6 mo, or 8 mo. I need to make this my lifestyle and help all these sick unhealthy people around me."

Hey all, I'm doing fine today...was in a little bit of a "funk" but feeling better now.
Regarding the potato-issue, I think that with a lot of things, we have to take some things with a grain of salt. I mean, I can think of many a time I've observed people eating raw (white) potato sticks/slices while they were cutting them up to cook. I'm not saying whether there is or is not validity to raw white potatoes being toxic/poisonous but I've seen the same types of claims about so many other foods as well that most raw fooders include in their diets; things such as sprouts, bell peppers, onions, garlic, wheat grass juice, tops of carrots and more have all been, from one person or another, touted as being toxic to humans while someone else some place else is touting them as being beneficial in one way or another. So again, it comes down to allowing your own senses and intuition to guide you when you eat certain foods.
Okay, as for my food intake today - I've so far had:
- green smoothie
- a banana
- Alissa's almond butter balls with a slight variation (added 3 varieties of sesame seeds - white, brown and black - green powder, spirulina and coconut)
- a slice of cheeze-topped onion bread
- a slice from my son's nectarine

Today has been great thus far, and I'm planning on keeping it that way! I'm feeling a bit tired though.....I've got to get the motivation to start REALLY working out again! It's just so hard! All I want to do when I get home from work is sleep! I can't even do it before work, as I get up at 5:30am as it is.....oh well, I'm going to give it until the rest of the week, and then on Monday, I'll commit to it full on. I just have to get into the groove of some sort of routine, that's all! Anyway, today I had a fruit salad for brekkie, grapes for snack, beautiful salad with Alissa's dressing for lunch, some raisins and cashews (approx. handful), some more fruit - papaya and pineapple, small piece of raw lasagna, and the grand finale.....homemade chocolate!! Mmmmm mmmmm good! It looks like I ate alot today, but my portions were small, so that's what I'm really trying to maintain....portion control. Have a good day everyone!

I am having all sorts of cravings for cooked food - carbs in particular. Part of me just wants to eat and eat and eat. I'm not going to of course. I wanted to go to yoga now, but i'm really tired and have had a headache all day...so I am going to go take a nap. I think my body is craving junk b/c I am tired. Hopefully I will feel better after the nap. I plan on making either RP's brownies or a batch of ice cream later. Me need chocolate!
Had to work today and then car pool the kids. My daughter Is trying out for volleyball so I had to wait a couple hours after school til she was done. Came home and made dinner for them and made a large dinner salad for myself. I am exhausted. More of the same tomorrow. Foods eaten:
Lara bar
Grapes
Summer corn salad
Broccoli salad
Garden salad with raspberry dressing

I'm late checking in. I went back to work from vacation today and then went to the gym. Here is my report:
breakfast - green smoothie with spinach, strawberries, blue berries, banana, mint leaves, and some carrot juice.
Lunch - was a small green salad with peppercorn dressing (BAD) and a small fruit bowl. I also had some cashew nuts - I need to stay away from them!
Dinner- another smoothie like this mornings' with flax seeds (heard they are good for hot flashes).
After work went to the gym and worked out for 1 hr on elliptical machine.
Real tired today. Going to bed around 9:15pm. Everyone have a good evening.

I had a bad day as far as strong cravings go...first time really in 12 days....I ahve been feeling so fantastic I was imagining I wasn't going there...silly huh???:p But I did not cave..ate some weird stuff combo wise but got thru it.
am......super shake w/ almond milk, cacao, banana,etc...
watermelon juice and pizza crackers
1 sq. super candy....
what a nutritionally vacant day. I was so hungry before I realized it this morning (late) then didn't have any time to make myself anything, then wasn't hungry at all. I find I am falling into the pattern of not eating dinner...not on purpose...but on a good day (where I've eaten enough greens) I have something about 3-4 then nothing else. Seems to work well for me. The last few days I haven't eaten nearly enough...will start the day with a green smoothie tomorrow..try to get alot of greens in..have really been lacking in them the last few...five days~ Arghhhhhhhhhh.......can't believe it's been almost two weeks.

I have been eating a little of this and a little of that all day long for two days so I am not going to bother to post it all... I feel really great and have been loving the salads lately! Finally. I felt like I might never eat another green again for a while there... I am still all raw! Yippee. I feel fantastic!

Ahhh. I slept for 2 hours when I got homel. I feel a million times better and the cravings are gone. Recognizing that being tired is a trigger to binge was one of the most important things I learned in therapy. Giving my body what it really needed instead of stuffing it full of bread and pastries to numb the tired feelings really feels a gazillion times better. It can just be so hard at the time to recognize what you truly need and give that to yourself instead of eating.
I just whipped up a batch of RP's brownies...of to have a little.
Food today:
green smoothie: banana, plum, cherries, spinach, hemp seed
heirloom tomato w/basil
salad w/half avo
HUGE peach
banana
kelp noodles w/marinara
half jicama dipped in leftover marinara

Vegan Princess - ain't that the truth sista! Whenever I get real tired I crave cooked food/junk. Thank God I have not succumbed - but that was a revelation for me too.
Food for today:
Spirulina moothie - added 1 T of chocolate chai
Miso soup with vege from yesterday - (I almost need a cigarette after that soup - if you know what I mean ;)
Nectarine
Collard leaf with veges (I could not stand the collard tonight for some reason + 1 left over avocado - terrible dinner I ended up throwing it out!
Movement: Treadmill x 25 minutes
Went to chiropractor today and got my first time ever massage - but it was deep tissue to try to relax the Fibro knots. Man did it hurt; however, afterwards I have to say I was surprised the back pain from yesterday is about 50% better. You could have knocked me over with a feather! Thank God for some relief.

Had to miss my usual early check in as I decided to hit the snooze too many times this morning and had to kick it in gear a little faster this morning.
Had a Lara bar and water on the way to the vanpool. Took a raw salad for lunch and the chia pudding I made last night to have as a snack later in the day. I could only get about 5 bites of that in me--it just lacked flavoring or something. Texture so reminded me of tapioca (a good thing) that I'll try it again if I can tweak a flavoring in there somehow. Another good day, but very very hot here.

Well it is the end of day 5, but really the beginning of day 6....I can't believe it is after midnight...
Eating only raw and lots of greens was easy today...
Breakfast - 32 ox green smoothie...lots of spinach, peach, blueberries, apple spirulina, hemp protein, maca, water.
Lunch...big salad at Bochy's...newly discovered with my friend LA...romaine, tomatoes, mandarin oranges, apples, avocado, drizzle EVO oil and balsamic vinegar (only kind of vinegar they had)
Snack while making dinner...watermelon rind juice
Dinner - Julia's Guac... avocado, tomato, cilantro, pecans, chili powder, lime juice
Dessert...cinnamon candy (ground almonds, pecans, cinnamon, agave nectar, coconut oil...spooned onto foil and frozen...really sweet...ate two spoonfuls...
Trying to make nut kefir for tomorrow...have it sitting on counter...will put in fridge on way to bed...we'll see????
Have infection in tooth post root canal, so Dr prescribed antibiotic...yuk...but need to get rid of toothache...so will try my nut kefir and if it doesn't work I will look for Kombuchu or something at hfs...
Didn't get my workout...tomorrow (this am) I will...and take my Dad who is recovering from stroke...
Big Challenge for me....stay off scale until end of month....Yeah...you can do it Jules

Help ! I need advice. I am stopping to see my previous neighbor tonite who has a UPS delivery that was left there for me and they said Good, they would like me for dinner. Dilema, I have not had a meal "alone" with them since I went Raw and Vegetarian. At picnics they would not notice I only ate Raw as there would be groups of people and I would eat my salad. Now I know they will be having Chicken or Steak and cooked veggies, maybe a salad ? So how do I politely not eat what they made ? It will offend them if I do not eat what they made for me !!! This is the hard part !
Today I planned to eat Grapefruits, apple and Green Drinks, raw almonds.

Good morning everyone. THis week is really going fast!
Rawfigure - that is a tough situation. I know how you feel as I turned down an invitation to a BBQ over Labor Day. It does make you feel like you are hurting their feelings, but really, if I went and started back to SAD I would have the tougher time going back to raw. So I just avoided it altogether. THat might not work for anyone else, but it is what I had to do for me. Could you explain to them that you no longer eat meat for health reasons? Good luck!
I hope everyone has a wonderful day !

Thanks for advice. I guess no easy way..I think I just need to be upfront with them that I do not eat meat and cooked foods. I hate to because I get the lectures. They have known me through my athletic years, bodybuilding shows and they always saw me as healthy, so to go raw for health reasons will make no sense to them !!

It's hard to put yourself out there sometimes but it's best to let them know upfront...just say thanks so much for the invite but I'm eating all raw and don't want to put you to any special trouble, etc...a way to open up the conversation. That way they will probably ask you questions about it and give you the opportunity to share it with them.
I am doing fine today...yesterday was a little angsty for some reason????
Stayed 100% raw though and that was a great feeling to not give into cravings for cooked...day #13 for me..can't believe it has been almost two weeks. Have to focus on more greens in the next few days...green smoothies and salads~
Hope everyone has a great day~:)

Rawfigure, Oh mye, this must be something. Thanks to goodness all my friends and family know that i am raw now. I usually just bring my own food.
What you can do, is that you need to let them know in advance of not making anything special for you because you are trying to eat alive food and you need their support. Tell them, that all you need is their presence and not to worry to make something special for you.
If they ask why you do this, just tell them the truth. Me it was to have more energy and stop the aging process, etc.... It just feel totally right to me, etc... This is a great opportunity to stand your ground and a great practice to deal with this kind of situation. It get easy and easier always.

Rawfigure - I would still go. I would tell them I'd love to help out with the food. Then you could make the Date Nut Torte, Angel Hair Pasta with Marinara, and maybe even some Mock Salmon Pate and a dressing. All of these take minutes to make. They'll probably end up eating more of YOUR food than your own!;) That way, you don't feel like you have to explain anything, you and they are not feeling put out, and everyone is happy! That's what I would do. HTH!:D

I lost track of what I ate yesterday. I know I had a green smoothie, and I know I had a decent sized salad around lunch time. I also know I had tomatoes drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with sea salt at about 9:30pm. What I lost track of was the number of truffles I ate that I had made by playing with an existing recipe. So, hazelnut truffles were my fun yesterday!:D
I'll post what I have today later. As of yet, I've had nothing.;)

Got a taste for Mexican food today!!! So, yesterday I made Alissa's Corn Chips, so I'm gonna have that for lunch with some of her guac and salsa and, a Walnut Meat Taco! I'm also making some delicious Onion Bread again (my new staple) so I'll be making stuff with that tomorrow... I eat it so much I think I'm gonna make another batch today!
Yesterday, I had mostly Cantelope and Watermelon...I was craving fruit!!!

Good morning all!!! I had a great day yesterday! I don't know if I can rememeber everything I ate.
barleymax
tea
smoothie (this was LUNCH, but it was early)
brazil nuts (snack)
some raw choc.
rest of green smoothie/soup
I made my smoothie really thick yesterday! I used: spinach, 1 TBS coconut oil, 1/2 avo, tomato, 1 clove of garlic, celery, 1/2 tsp. maca....I think that was all...oh, and some chili powder and sea salt. I was kinda digging around pulling out anything that I thought looked good:eek: and it was good!!:p (that's me licking my lips!!)
It's great to see you LAY-LAY!!! Seems like everyone is doing great. I feel great.....
Seems like I am feeling stressed, we have alot of bills going out right now, and I have to S-T-R-E-T-C-H our money out, but I know to be careful, the warning signs of stress/stress eating...!!!! I HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF MYSELF!! Usually when money is tight, I worry, and then snack on junk. I will not do that this time! Eating junk will NOT improve the $$ situation. I will just have to pick and choose where the $$ goes, carefully.
OK...enough of that.
Gotta get going.
Today is a busy day.
I have to get groceries sometime....DS has band practice.....school has to get done today.
Not sure what to eat because there is not a lot of produce left. I'll make it.

Renee: Oh man...now you got me wanting Mexican. Can you save some chips and guac for me? Thanks!
Just checking in to say hello to all and wish everyone a wonderful day 6!! I kicked off my day with a nice green smoothie, but the greens were starting to go bad so I couldn't put in as much as I would have liked.

Hi all,
I'm on my way out of town to see my mom and dad for the weekend. Mom's 82nd birthday. I will have a lot of travel -- driving to Oregon and taking the train back to San Francisco. No posting for me over the weekend, but I will stay raw. Hope it's a great, raw weekend for all of you. See you Monday.

Good Morning everyone.
Rawfigure - what a great opportunity to share with your friends your new lifestyle, I also agree with the others - upfront is best and absolutley offer to bring something.:D
Yesterday was great - all raw, dinner was a green smoothie yum!
I also made a new recipe and my DH really liked it (he's mostly vegan not raw). I got the idea from a chinese fried rice reciepe.
Cauliflower rice
green onions (diced)
celery with leaves (diced)
carrots (diced)
ginger (tsp diced)
cold pressed sesame oil 1.5 tbsp
braggs 2 tbsp
After after making the cauliflower rice in the processor, I mixed all ingrediants together and let it marinate in the fridge for about 1.5 hours.
It really turned out good. DH added some apple cider vinagar and pepper to his.
That was the first time I've ever tried to uncook a recipe. It was really tasty.
today:
a.m. - green smoothie (lots of kale, banana, strawberries, aloe vera (not sure if that is raw or not) maca root, agave = Yum!
snacks: flax crackers, avacado tomato, goji berries
lunch: large salad lemon dressing
dinner: green smoothie (spinach, banana, aloe vera, strawberries) and maybe a taste of my new recipe!
Have a rawkin day!

Good morning to all!
Rawfigure: I think your neighbors would appreciate your honesty. You can tell them up front that you are eating only raw vegan foods for health reasons but would love to enjoy their company. Let them know that you will bring a couple of dishes to try. The dinner is more about the relationships and company than about food. :)
Looks like everyone is doing good. I feel really good and clean and light today (though I still weigh A LOT!). I am loving raw.
This is the only chance I will have to post today so wanted to peek in and say hi. I am cooking a BIG cooked meal for my guests (won't even tell ya what I am making:o ) but I will be eating raw. So projected intake today is:
watermelon juice
Best Coffee Ever
Green smoothie
Big Salad
There might be a littl more like a piece of fruit or something. Wish me lots of willpower to withstand the yeast rolls and pasta dish!

So great to see the helpful conversations already this am... I always learn so much from all of you.
Well, I signed off late last night, and here I am early, but I take the time to check in when I can.
Just made humongous green smoothie...Lots of spinach, frozen 1/2 banana, frozen cantaloupe and honeydew, plum, 1/2 peach, coconut oil, flax seed, maca, hemp protein, spirulina...
Made over 32 oz...So I am taking the time to sit and leisurely eat and plan my day...
Forgot to put my nut kefir in the fridge last night, so it sat on counter about 14 hours instead of the recommended 8....I put it in fridge anyway.
Wondering if anybody knows if it will still be good to eat when it is chilled. I really need the probiotics...Have a tooth infection post root canal...Ouch...and Dr prescribed antibiotics...

Godd afternoon, all.
JulesRules- I used to make kefir from dairy and it was fine to leave it out for a day or 2, it ferments more and gets more of those little digestive system helping critters. there is a great websight, google in "Dom's kefir in-site" and you will find it. It has loads of info on kefir and cheese making and should help you.
Today I have not been too hungry. The tetnus shot I had a few days ago is still making me feel funky. I do have Alissa's enchilada's warming in the dehydrator so that will be yummy.
Today I have had:
a few seasoned/dehydrated nuts
a hndfull of dried cherries
1/2 a carrot
Take care all.

Day 37 and still raw.
Some good news and some bad news. First the good news, I have had to tighten my belt up another notch to keep my pants up. Now the bad news, I am going to have to buy some new pants as these are hanging on me like baggy tents. It sure feels strange to see all this flab melting away while I am eating all I want to eat of RAW foods. :)

Feeling/doing MUCH better today than yesterday!
So far:
- green smoothie
- vanilla shake
- spoonful of ice cream
- few spoons of hubby's oatmeal cereal
Planning on making Ani Phyo's Sunflower Bread (think that's what it's called) and maybe a nut cheeze as my kids seemed to like crackers/breads with cheeze slightly dehydrated on top. Gotta go shopping today, though as we're running low on groceries!

Rawfigure,
I understand how it is to get lectures or for people to ask questions....eg.,
Don't you know about complete proteins, are you getting enough protein, somethings are more easily digested cooked....
So, when I first tell them I can't eat their food, I tell them that I am doing a little experiment, because I am curious and so far so great...they seem to let it go faster if I they think I might be doing it short term...that also gives them a little more time to get used to the idea.
My plan is that I will look and feel so great, that by the time the "experiment" is over, they will want to have their own....

I'm reallllllyyyyy cranky today and it muct be detox because nothing is really wrong... I'm just anxious and agitated is all. I am still all raw even though I made cooked breakfasst for my family and it was torturous because it smelled really good. Well at least I made it through...
Hope you are all feeling better than me...:o

been reading everybody's posts and learning so much....One thing, I've observed though...there is such a wide variety of "how much and how often" everybody is eating.
When I read some of the posts, I wonder, how can one maintain that regimen (because it is so little food) for the long haul. I am looking for a lifestyle, that hopefully results in weight loss...
I admit, that I feel guilty sometimes, if I crave food all day...but as long as I am eating raw, I give myself permissions to eat....
In other weight loss programs, there was always a concern that our metabolisms would go into starvation mode...is that a risk with raw, since we are eating healthy food, even if it is less?
Or do we need to be careful to eat a certain way, frequently and in certain amounts to keep metabolism up?

That's a good question Jules. All I know is that on other "diets" (and I know this is not one) I was always hungry, even right after I ate, always thinking about food. Now I eat when I am hungry and sometimes, in fact lots of the time I am just not. Somedays I feel like I graze all day and others not so much food at all.....If I'm hungry I eat....feels so much simplier...will be interesting to see how it pans out over the long haul. I have messed my metabolism up so badly yo yo dieting for years I am not sure what will happen now~

Emotionally I'm not doing well at all. I've been irritable the past few days (actually, this has been going on the past 2 weeks) and hypersensitive. I don't know if that's detox or just starting grad school in a new field of study and being disappointed with the teaching assistantship I've been given. Probably a combination of both. The problem is I'm afraid that it will start to affect my relationships with the people around me and that's already very fragile because it's so new. So I'm trying to cope with it by basically being as little as possible around people I work and study with in an effort to avoid reacting to anything I perceive they might do to irritate me (because in addition to irritation, I can't seem to keep my mouth shut).
If anyone has any suggestions on how I can better deal with the moodiness, please let me know. Physically, I've been feeling good on raw - more focus and energy. So I don't want to give it up.
I'm struggling with what to have in the evenings. I mainly do fruit until lunchtime, then have a salad with avocado or nuts. Yesterday I had a green smoothie in the evening but I'm afraid that I may be eating too much fruit. On the other hand, fruit is what I've been craving lately (probably because of the stress).
Today's menu:
Plum
Tangelo
Grapes
Pineapple
Romaine, tomatoes, adn green onion with tahina dressing
Dried aprocots
Green smoothie with spinach, banana, apple, and lime (from Victoria Boutenka's book)
Mango
Dried cherries
I hope that tomorrow will be a better day.

Been really craving crunchy, salty, substantial food today...so after my green smoothie this am, I ate some almonds. Then around 3: I made some of the
Walnut taco meat...but because I had already had nuts I made it w/ half walnuts and 1/2 cauliflower rice...spices, braggs amino liquid, lime...then ate it on romaine leaves..w/ fresh corn cut from the cob, fresh home grown tomatoes, shredded cabbage, and extra lime...
Ate 4 Romaine leaves throughout the afternoon...it was great....Have some "meat" left over for breakfast or lunch tomorrow...
Not hungry and now it is 5:00 so, drinking some water and plan to have some watermelon rind juice (12 0z) and water for dinner in about 1/2 hour....
Haven't made my workout, no excuses...just taking it easy. Break from everything...Believe that the antibiotics are causing me to feel blah and affecting my appetite.

Today's been a good day for raw food.....I pretty much have the same thing everyday...well, for the time being. I find that if I'm enjoying certain foods, I tend to keep eating them until I get bored, and move onto the next thing. I think it's my "lady time"(no, I'm not 90...!)soon, and therefore am craving chocolate in all shapes and forms. Luckily I've found a mixture of coconut butter, a little tahini, agave, and cacao......oh my, it is heavenly. I added almonds to the mix today, and it was delish! Otherwise, my eating has been very "light".....as in lighter foods, like fruits, greens, etc.....oh, and an avocado on my salad! Love the avo! Anyway, it's been good.....lost 5 lbs. since Monday, and I don't care if it's water weight (most likely is).....it's gone, and that's all that matters! Ok, have a great day all!

Hey STARFIRE....I WAS thinking of getting my belly button pierced, but I've never wanted to "show off" my belly. It's NEVER been an area that I wanted people to notice. NOW, I still don't, but as I loose weight, I was thinking, "maybe" but I have this question, "how old is to old??" I guess I MAYBE feel tooo old for a belly button piercing, but I also thought it would show how far I've come (to want to show off something I used to want to hide!)
Anyway,
I can't remember everthing I've eaten today.
Dehydrated almonds
barleymax (first)
I missed lunch and snacked on more nuts.almonds...
Dinner.....more nuts.brazil nuts..HMMMM....not a great raw day. Definitely NOT balanced, a very hurried day. TOMORROW, I will get in a great smoothie...lots of greens and fresh veggies, as I went to to grocery store today, and will be VERY prepared tomorrow!! I still feel better today than I did on my best SAD eatin' days.... :D That's the great thing about raw.....even an unbalanced day is still better than "healthy cooked vegetarian" days!!! LLLLLOOOOOVE IT!!!

Thanks all for the good advice !
This is a great approach I like it !! And since many say "you look great" it is a good segway ! I will use this if needed at a Sat night dinner party we are going to. We moved to the Lake Year round and have meet some new friends. We have been invited to join a Gourmet Dinner Club with 4 other couples (through the winter months ) They move from home to home thru the winter. The host does the main course. This dinner I am the Appetizer girl so I need to come up with a few to take.
For the dinner tonight I did not have the opportunity to pre plan and take anything (too busy). So I took my chances she would have salad and I ate plenty through out the day so I would not be hungry at 7 PM. I decided not to approach the raw subject at dinner due to fact I rarely see them now and did not want to get into the whole conversation. Thankfully she made a Cold Beet Soup in the FP, she had been wanting to make and she remembered I liked cold soups. She said it was not cooked (when I asked her how she made it) though a part of it may have been so I just had a small amount, and she was so happy I liked it that she overlooked I did not eat chicken on my salad or the couscous. I had salad w/o the chicken on it.
Today I ate:
1 organic apple
3 organic grapefruits skin and white peeled and sliced (these were Yum !)
1 banana
22 Truely Raw Almonds
one bunch of grapes
Plate of Salad
small amount of Cold Beet Soup
Dry Red wine

What a long and tiring day. Trying to cram a full week's worth of work into 4 days is rough. Did not have time for breakfast this morning. Had an apple at work. Lunch was the BBQ Portobellas (pretty good), but too spicy with the rub so I left it off. Had half an avocado in mid-afternoon as mushrooms don't really leave you full for too long, I guess. Tonight was not really hungry--small spinach salad for dinner. Really looking forward to the weekend and preparing some fancier recipes. Want to make the world's greatest meatloaf as it is awsome. Need some comfort soup, too. Feeling a little down.
Day six under the belt.

uuh i have been sooooooo bloated today- i traced it to the increased amount of bananas (usually i'd eat them either with greens or fats, but with college i just ate them 2-3 in a row while on campus) they're so sugary they just dehydrate me so badly....
So today i kept it liquid the whole day!

Starfire - I just have to tell you. I LOVE reading your posts! You are so motivational and upbeat girlie!:D
Wendi - Here's my response to your "How old is too old". First, you are only as old as you feel! And some of these days lately, I feel like a giddy kid, so there!:p Other thing is. Once you're strong on raw and dropping your weight and detoxing, detoxing, detoxing........ you won't be looking as old as you are either! One thing I've noticed lately is this:
I started getting looked at by men again a few months ago. Okay, cool. Appreciate away. Well lately, I've been getting looked at by younger and younger men!:o I'm telling you, some of them probably can't even be out of high school yet. And it's not bad looks either. And sometimes, when it's before I get out of the car, and they don't see the kids, it's like that one commercial where the mom and her daughters are going surfing! And I'm still about 50 pounds overweight!
All that to say, you're NEVER to old to do what feels good and right to you. Maybe it can be your present to yourself later for sticking to this way of life?!
I haven't eaten yet. I'm not particularly hungry right now. I woke up feeling nauseated (it happens occassionally). I'm not even caring why. I'll eat when I'm ready. Just going to drink water for now.
Hope everyone has a GREAT raw day! I'll post more about my food for today later.
OH! Yesterday I made the fantabulous pizza that I had made for our potluck. DH is taking some plus a raw sandwich I made for him at 4:30 this morning to work! I also had the last truffle last night of the ones I made. And I'm out of coconut butter now.:( So now I'm going to try making it with almond butter and see how that one comes out!

Good morning everyone! I am feeling ok, but overwhelmed as my oldest son who was sick last week, had 1 good day and is getting sick again. I wish I knew just what to do for him. Doctor after doctor does not seem to help and I wish I could find a compassionate allergist or someone who actually knows what will help him. I always feel down when my children are sick; I can't stand seeing them suffering. It feels like a knife in my heart I get so downhearted. Anyway...thinking about the day today and making something special for dinner perhaps - maybe 'tacos' and guac. I need something comforting. I made meatloaf and mac and cheese for the boys yesterday. It looked and smelled so good I have to admit I was tempted. Going to see the chiropractor today. Need to move this am too. Will keep plugging forward.
Good luck everyone and have a wonderful raw day :)

Shine2, up and at it early ! ;) good to see you here to get motivated for the day, mee too.
Rasberry4...I am sorry your child is having a hard time with his allergies, hug, it is tough when the kids are sick.
I am going to continue my mono eating. Mostly fruit and some greens and drinks. As I have posted elsewhere that I am doing a colon/parasite cleanse for awhile now (since May). I have a sluggish digestive sysytem (maybe from a decade on high protein/meat diet). I am finding if I eating too many different foods at once slows down my cleanse. Grapefruit seems to digest and cleanse well.
Off to jog and weight train.
Have a good Raw Day.

Raspberry4- I hope your guy feels better soon!
Well, headache is GONE! It was getting worse, so I downed some water and went and did a 30 minute walk (I walk FAST). Guess my headache decided it couldn't stick around with the movement. The nauseated feeling is gone too! (The headache started after the nausea). So I'm happy now!:D Think I'll make a green smoothie here in a few to celebrate!:D

Hello~:)
Aww Raspberry....I know how it breaks a mom's heart when her kids are sick. The Mom is suppossed to make everything ok...and when you can't it kills you. Hope he gets some answers and relief soon~ *hugs*
I am doing great today. Day 14 for me and I am pretty grateful it's been two weeks at 100% raw. The main thing I have noticed is that I am much more even tempered...well...lots of highs but no real lows and I do/did tend to get pretty stressed with my job sometimes...really haven't felt that way much at all in the last two weeks. Only one headache this past weekend.
In the past when I've done/tried to do raw I always justified eating something non-raw. Now what keeps me from eating those things...well, there are lots of things that keep me from doing it, but mostly I don't want to take two steps backward just to satisfy a momentary craving for something that won't really make it go away anyway. Once I ate it I'd still have the craving anyway.
Just rambling...think I will go eat a watermelon!!!:D

Good Morning!
Today is day 4 for me since I jumped into the challenge late. I was unable to post yesterday-but have been raw the last 3 days and plan the same for today. I also experienced a significant headache on days 1 and 2. Thankfully that has past!
Yesterday I had:
Banana/Orange/Romaine Smoothie
Necartine, plums, watermelon, apples
Salad for lunch with fresh orange juice and a splash of olive oil
Apple for dinner
Surprisingly, I never felt that "starving" feeling. Could be because I kept munching all day!!
Raspberry4-sure hope your son feels better soon! Hang in there!
Have a great day!

Good morning everyone! I just wanted to post quickly and let everyone know that I PLAN to make a great green smoothie this morning...really thick like soup (if I use coconut butter, it gets really thick like soup)
I also plan to make some onion bread this weekend. I HAVE TO get to the HFS and get some flax seed and sunflower seeds.
The kids and I have to get to the library, grocery store, HFS, music store (to buy DS a bell set), clean one of our businesses, AND do school work today.... :p Thank GOD I am raw, I don't think I could handle the load. In the past I get all freaked out at how much I have to do. NOW, I'm just thinking of how I can get it all in....
1. school (until about lunch)
2. library
3. grocery store
4. HFS
5. music store
6. clean one of our businesses (30 minutes away)
OK....there....1st things 1st...MAKE MY SMOOTHIE:D
Ya'll take care.
Have a blessed day.

Hey Wendi - are there any raw restaurants in North Carolina?? How far are you from Raleigh? The guy I'm dating really wants to settle down back there. I told him I didn't know if there were any veggie restaurants. LOL. He said there were a lot. :p

Good Morning, All!
Start of day five for me. Feel great, lots of energy, except when I ate raw white potatoes with my hummus and then yesterday, when I ate flax seed crackers with hummus and salsa. Do seeds slow you down, normally? Maybe it's the hummus?
Gave dh a taste of my green smoothie this morning and he liked it! Will make a small one for him tomorrow for breakfast, which he normally doesn't eat.
DH told me this morning that I looked "smaller". Then he smiled and held his hand up to show me how much: about chest high. :D
Normal breakfast: green smoothie (banana/apple/kale)
Lunch: green smoothie
snacks: flax seed crackers & hummus or salsa
Late afternoon: green smoothie
Dinner: huge salad with sprouts, sesame seeds and oil and vinegar
Dessert: a few dates
Have a great day, everyone!

Hi VP!!! I live about an hour/2 from Raliegh. I don't visit there, so I'm not sure if there are vegetarian rest. there. Raliegh is a bigger metro. area than we are, so your friend is probably right. I would definitely have to visit Raliegh if you moved, we could always meet at a HFS, or rest. if they have one.
That would be a BIG move for you, wouldn't it???

Wendi: Yeah it would be a HUGE move for me coming from California. But I wouldn't move unless I was married to him...and things are still very new...though he's already trying to convince me we should move there down the road. It's just SO expensive here. For the price of a studio in the city, we could get a 3,500 sq foot house out there!

good morning all.
Raspberry- just kkep working at it and you will find how to help your son but, in the mean time, I am sending you some love and strength to to help you take care of you.
1 week done, wasn't that easy? Easier than getting teeth pulled!! That is for sure.
Glimr- I made your carrawmellow treats last night. Yummy! I didn't have all of the ingredients so I played a bit but we all loved it. My 3 yr. old and I ate some for breakfast. Last night the encheladas were a hit. My 83 year old grandmother loved it, especially with a bit of onion dip. My husband said I should definately get a stand at the farmers market ans sell next year. Hmmmmm.
I can't tell you all enough how much these boards help me to keep on track. You are all so wonderful.
Thanks and have another great raw day.

The crowd is just all over those booths getting their free snacks and..well, information too i guess. I went to check it out as well and as i passed different tables, i saw: candy, candy, soft drinks, diet soft drinks, cookies, mini chocolate bars, more cookies.......
I'm disgusted  none of them had at least some fruits, i can't believe it.. i just took my avocado smoothie and enjoyed it

Riiya - only two more posts and you germinate to sprout. Congrats
Yesterday
Well, I signed off last night with the best of intentions and got a craving for, of all things...greasy pizza...and I didn't even really like pizza that much when I wasn't raw...there must be some emotional attachement, there...though.
So, I pulled out the rest of my walnut taco meat and made lettuce wraps with it, w tomatoes, lime, cabbage and romaine. The saltiness and texture satisfied me and I stayed RAW....So I ate all of the taco meat, but at least I made is w/nuts and cauliflower "rice". Couldn't tell the difference after it sat and marinated for a while. And I stayed raw...
Biggest challenge day so far ( about a month raw)...biggest cravings...and I overcame....and so shall we all overcome....
Hooray...
I also made some cucumber juice and drank it along with extra water....
Today....
This morning, I made smoothie.
I used my nut milk kefir, some soaked oat groats, peach, frozen banana, blueberries, spinach and romaine, spiruline, hemp protein, maca....It was creamy and great...Different from my other smooties so far, since I hadn't yet used nut milk kefir or oats ....
Gonna work out, then plan the rest of the day when my mind is clearer...

Wow - a week already. I am actually almost at the end of week 2 ! Yeah ! I do feel great, sleep well and am eating mainly fruits/veggies and green drinks. I do go for the nuts now and then...I feel for those of you starting out and live near "old" temptations. I live alone, work a bazillion hours as I am in the first year of a solo retail store. I am however going to visit a friend and although I always thought I was healthy eater only occasionally eating organic chicken and fish it will be difficult as food was so much a part of our being together. I did visit one time, as a hurricane evacuee and was on the lemonade fast for 15 days. This I want to do forever and am committed in this challenge and through 2007.
Anyway, wish I would write everday but I am so happy for this site ! Thanks to everyone !!!

Thank you to everyone for your well wishes and thoughts. It helped me smile.
Congratulations on the weight loss to all who lost. I am tempted to weigh in; but do not feel like I lost any weight so I will not because I do not want to get discouraged about it. I am in this for the weight loss AND to feel better (most important).
I made my usual smoothie with banana and spirulina but added a little agave (Allissa's) and raw cocoa powder (Alissa's) and oh my goodness it was really good. Did not taste the spirulina AT ALL.
Just wanted to check in again - I am so happy for this support this time around. It makes it easier to stick with the program. Blessings to all for a great day...

going to be on the road today and a surprise bday party tonight 2 hrs away at a bar...so it's going to be rough. i have to drive, so i am not worried about the drinking.
so, this morning i made a green (actually purple) smoothie with mango, banana, blueberries, blackberries, sambazon acai and some agave with collard greens. it's a full blender of it...so this should fill me up for awhile.
for the road: bananas, pears, tupperware of Cinnamon Panda's Trail Mix Of Whatever Is In Her Cabinets, maybe some Greens rolled up with almond butter inside or something.

Way to go rawbies!
We are all doing so great!
Today is dh's birthday so I'm super busy getting ready for the old "cake and ice cream" routine. I made a raw cheezecake though, so I should be fine. Dh actually requested the raw cake so that was really cool. We still "have" to have cooked cake and dairy ice cream for the non-raw folks, for now at least...
I'm still all raw and my appetite is finally starting to wane...
Love to you all.

I made a delicious salad for lunch. it was - lettuce, sprouts, broccoli, tomato, onion, carrot and raw homemade, tahini-based salad dressing. yummoo
These are GlimR's Carawmella bars!
Carawmella Bars
Nut layers:
3 cups walnuts
1 cup pitted medjool dates
1 T. vanilla
good pinch celtic sea salt
Caramel layer:
¼ cup maca powder
1/8 cup mesquite powder
1/8 cup lucuma
1 cup agave or honey
2 heaping T. almond butter
1 tsp. vanilla
pinch celtic sea salt
Chocolate/Nut Butter layer:
1 cup raw cacao powder
½ cup mesquite powder
½ cup almond butter
¾ cup agave or honey (I used a mix of both)
2 T. fo-ti
1 tsp. vanilla
pinch celtic sea salt
Process all nut crust ingredients in food processor till mixed well, nuts a medium chop.
Press half the mixture firmly into a square baking dish (8x8). Set the other half aside.
In a bowl mix all ingredients for the caramel layer till very smooth, add a touch more honey or agave if needed to make a thick but smooth mixture.
Spread over nut layer and put in freezer till very firm, about 40 minutes.
In food processor blend all ingredients for the chocolate layer till mixed and fudgy.
This will be very thick, don’t overwork your processor.
Take it out of the processor bowl and work it with your hands for a second. The consistency is like a fondant dough. Place it over the caramel layer and press to cover.
Sprinkle the rest of the nut mixture over the chocolate, pressing in into the chocolate layer firmly. This will pretty much fill the pan to the top.
Place in freezer for several hours to firm up. Remove and slice as desired.
This makes a huge batch of candy and should be stored in the freezer.

ahh..so I am starting a bit later - lol..better a week late then never... Today was great day...had a big ol green smoothie in the morning (after my lemon water)...big salad for lunch, snacks of organic food bar and fruit salad drizzled with coconut butter (actually it hardens to a nice shell over the fruit)...for those that haven't read my blog, I have a few health issues so I can't go 100% right away, easing into it slowly, but I actually achieved close to it today!! I think after a week I will be able to go full force! my only partial non raw item is the organic food bar (the protein one) which is 80% raw. Plan to have another salad for dinner and then calling it a day! So excited to be back! Have a great weekend everyone :D

FO-TI... also known as HE SHO WU... here's a link with some info...
http://www.herbalextractsplus.com/fo-ti-root.cfm?gclid=CPa-q-y8so4CFRW3hgodrTkdyw
basically it's amazing - here's a very short synopsis -- but there's a whole lot more that it does...
Fo-Ti Root is considered an excellent tonic that has been used for centuries to produce longevity, fertility and vitality. It is also believed to rejuvenate the body, relieves stress, prevent premature ageing and counteract fatigue and exhaustion. The herb is also considered a key tonic for the elderly, alleviating pain in the knees, replenishing semen/sperm in men, countering impotence and darkening gray hair in both sexes; in other words, all the problems associated with ageing. Lady Green Jeans- one of my favorite easy sweat treats is chocolate pudding:
2-3 bananas
1/2-1 avacado
1-2 TBL. agave, honey or soaked dates (optional)
1-2 TBL. raw cocoa powder and/or carob powder
Put all in blender and blend.
this takes less than 5 min. and is perfect chocolate pudding. My kids love it.
After I eat all the pudding, I take the blender, add afew ice cubes, a bit of water, maybe some soaked nuts or almond butter and blend. It's a milkshake.

My sassy feisty alter ego self!!
As far as food intake - I've mostly been having the Master Cleanse drink, and several teaspoons of coconut butter throughout the day -- just an experiment. The coconut butter seems a bit heavy - and I actually had a sense of nausea a time or two (it only lasted a second then left)... I wanted to see if I could tell the difference between taking the coconut butter verses the coconut oil... and I think I'm GAINING WEIGHT eating the coconut butter! ACKkkk !! ... that's okay - it will come back off... I needed to see what would happen - now I know. So - tomorrow I think I'll be back on the coconut oil ... when I take that I lose weight!
Tonight my bff is coming by with my nieces so I think i might indulge in a kale salad! I'm also making them a coconut, apple banana and strawberry pie. I'm not much in a pie mood... as yummy as it is ... I think kale salad will be just perfect !!
I'm not too hungry lately --- I just realized I think its stress from work -- things are really REALLY intense right now -- and my tummy is all tight .... (and not tight as in toned and wanna show it off look at my gorgeous tummy tight!! lol....) no I mean - tied in knots tight... sigh....

Starfire - I soak the sunflower seeds during the day (for approx. 8 hours) and then dehydrate them overnight until they're dry. Usually by noon they are. I store them in a jar in the fridge. Then, when we want them warmed up again, I just pop little glass bowls of them in the D for about 20 minutes, salt up, and enjoy! HTH!:D
Don't know what was up with me today. I had another salad, then took a short nap (I had been up since 4:30 after going to bed late). Then I went shopping when my man got home. Had a few bites of the apple pie I picked up for him (raw, from Life Grocery), and now, I'm just wanting something, not sure what. Maybe I'll have some more salad!;)

I just wanted to say hello...I am going to try to "pop" in...life is pretty crazy these days with the addition of grad school and other groups and nonprofit projects that I'm working on...oh yeah and then there's work.
I just wanted to say hello and check on all you beautiful people. I miss posting on here...I'm still traveling along on my raw journey. I don't have any good stuff to post, just been keeping it plain and simple...I eat stuff that is stash-and-dashable; I gotta be able to stash it in a bag and dash out the door in the mornings. You know, simple fruits and veggies, nuts and easy salads....maybe I'll be more creative by next month.
I've got some spiritual things going on right now...another reason why I haven't been posting...try to get to where God needs me to be. So...blah blah blah....don't wanna bore you guys with all that...just checkin' in to say "HI!"...

I love checking in and seeing how well everyone's doing!!
I'm still 100% raw, really really really wanted to mess up today because I got stressed and just felt like doing something bad, lol.. but got around it by pigging out on sprouted flax/hemp/poppyseed crackers with salsa, whew! I thought I was over those cravings, they definitely pop up when I'm overwhelmed and don't know exactly what to do first.
Starfire, I thought coconut oil and coconut butter were the same thing, no? Different kinds of oil from the same nut? I'm confused!

oh my, that's what i'm drinking now! however, the taste is so......uhm.....i'm not used to it- i put it into my water with lemon- is this ok?
yay kombucha! (this word makes me want to dance some strange raw dance hm)
Yeah i shouldn't have used the word "like" i should say it's the only one that I don't mind, and can actually finish in a day. :D

I just wanted to tell you how proud I am of all of you for being so in touch with your health and your choices to do the best you can.
Life is proving itself as incredibly fragile ... if you've ever had unresolved issues with someone, please do what you feel you can to set things right. If you haven't spoken with a friend for a long time, call them... write them... let them know that you still love them.
I read an article the other day about how people tend to put things away and not use them because it's the "good" china, or their "good" clothes. They never use the fancy tablecloths or their expensive crystal because it needs to be "saved" for the right occasion.
I do this.
Who's to say that you're not worth it today? Why shouldn't you feel spoiled and use your nice things? Why shouldn't you wear that expensive outfit? Why do we even keep things if we don't use them? Love yourself, and let yourself BE loved. Live every single day the very best you can. Don't just exist. LIVE.
I'll be back in a couple of days when I have sorted some things out in my head. Keep rawking, always. xoxo

Vegan Princess,
Thank you for pointing me to RP's Brownies. Have not made those yet. Will do a search. Remebering that it was a fairly easy recipe. Will follow up after I find recipe and make them.
It's actually Jennifer Cornbleet's recipe. http://goneraw.com/recipes/935-Raw-Walnut-Brownies
1.5 cups walnuts
10 dates (equals 1 cup)
1/3 cup cocoa
1/2 t. vanilla optional
2 t. water optional (for moisture)

I thought coconut oil and coconut butter were the same thing, no? Different kinds of oil from the same nut? I'm confused!
A lot of people seem to use them synonymously, coconut butter has the oil and the meat blended into a butter.

Well my breakfast smoothie was great, but then went to workout
Well, my workout was not so easy today...maybe b/c I'm taking meds....yuk, but unavoidable...
So then I ate 3 humongous hunks of cold watermelon...yum, read in the sun for 1/2 hour.
Afternoon, 2 glasses of almond nut milk.
Evening...Thai cabbage salad w/ green and red cabbage, 5 bean sprout mix, shredded carrot and cucumber, cilantro, (didn't have peanuts so used chopped almonds) and Raw Thai dressing.... MMM very satisfying...great crunchy texture, lots of flavors...
Jules
Munched on some soaked and beginning to sprout oat groats and small banana.

Hey this is a bit late into it, because day seven is yesterday for me. Here's what happened:
I decided in the morning when I was packing my food that I just wanted fruit. All well and good, had my greens and fruit smoothie, packed a canteloupe (yeah, a whole one all cut up in a container), three oranges, a mess of grapes and figured I'd be good for the day. I ate the whole thing by noon!
This is how easy raw is - I walked to a nearby Walmart and bought some grape tomatoes and a small bag of pecans. Way cheaper than going to Taco Smell. (c:
I had a nice guacamole for dinner. Yum!

I have a busy day planned and the plan is to stay raw! I'm packing apple slices, grapes and some raw nuts to take along J.I.C.. My plan includes a trip to the mothership Whole Paycheck in downtown Austin, so hopefully I'll eat lunch there. It's easy to eat raw vegan in Austin as long as you stay away from the barbeque places.
Also, today was the Saturday weigh-in (the official record keeping weigh-in) and I am down 7.6 pounds for the week. I'll have to say that it did bounce up and down the last few days. So we must never get discouraged by the numbers on the scale.
I'll post later as to what kind of trouble I get into at WF. I'm planning on getting some staples, more coconut butter, raw cocoa, some nuts, that kind of thing. And they have a raw bar as well.

I just wanted to do a quick post. I am going to have, yet, another busy day. One of our local towns has a street fair....and I am planning to meet my mom and sister there and walk around a bit. My sister is also having a surprise b-day party for her hubby at a local chain restaurant. I dread going, but know I AM NOT GOING TO EAT!! I am going for the fellowship, and the support. I know my kids will eat, but I will eat beforehand. I would rather FILL UP on a great green smoothie...than to be tempted by JUNK!!
I hope everyone has an awesome day.
I don't know about ya'll, but this new positive board lay-out, is WONDERFUL for me. I didn't realize how much I put into OTHER people "making" it. If someone I looked up to "slipped" it's like, it gave me permission to slip also. I am happy to report that I have not had one single slip this week. It's been a long time since I could report that, and NOT crave anything either!!!
OK....enough. I'm off to wake the kiddo's to go to the street festival....have some herbal detox tea and smoothie:D
Ya'll have a blessed day!

GOod morning to everyone!
Woke up rather sore and still tired today. Plan to move and always very busy on the weekends with catching up housework, etc. It is a dreary
day out but will make the best of it. I am so tempted to weight myself (usually do so after 7 days) but do not want to be discouraged. Goal is to stay off the scale until October 1st still.
Good luck and enjoy day 8 everyone! I really like the way these threads are broken up into days - it is motivating to see the number going up (each day).

Morning...morning!!!! Happy Saturday....Let's have fun and celebrate another healthy Raw day...
For breakfast, made my green smoothie, but my fresh greens froze in the fridge and looked like slime...could'n't handle it...so I added some hemp protein and spirulina and at least it looks green.
So, my smoothie had plum, frozen banana, 1/2 mango, nut milk kefir, coconut oil, hemp protein, spirulina, and 1/4 cup barely sprouting oat groats. Yum...
Going for art walk around Fort Worth this afternoon, so my plan is to eat my crunchy Thai salad before and take an apple. Then everybody is planning to eat sushi...maybe they will have a great salad or seaweed salad, for me. I will have to be careful...

So some fruit for breakfast, a peach and banana. Salad at lunch (we are going out), and then later today I plan to make Mock Salmon Pate and Donut Holes.
Have a great RAW day everyone!!
