Ok, so I've started out running, and now I'm up to the point where I can run 3 miles, and feel like I'm 7/10ths of the way towards my physical limit/exhaustion. Meaning I COULD run father if I had the incentive.
Anyways, how often is too often to run?
Like with weight training, it's recommended to have a rest day...so at my level, how much/many days per week should I run?
First off, good for you! Running makes the body feel so good!
It's recommended to not increase more than 10% per week to be on the safe side. I guess your body would have to tell you the limit from there. Even most people who train for marathons only have one long run day, though, and they still have at least one rest day.
I would sprinkle extra days and distances in up to a max of six days per week of running. When I ran competitively our "rest" day were spent swimming in running position on Sundays, but at least we rested our bodies from the impact.
I hope that helps. If you have more questions, feel free to email me. :)
